Elephants - Back to the Wild: Part 2 | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Elephants - Back to the Wild: Part 1' here: • Elephants - Back to th...
An entire year of the life of orphan elephants is captured on film, where we witness them grow up and be reintroduced into the wild. The film showcases the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its breeding and rehabilitation station for elephants. In two episodes, we are taken to two unique locations in Kenya and tell stories of the breeding, release, and conservation efforts of elephants. We use never before seen footage that perfectly shows the coexistence of elephants and the highly emotional relationships that elephant groups maintain. The result is a spectacular look at the wonderful animals and their habitat.

Thank you to all that made this documentary. Sheldrick’s needs the wonderful publicity. The more people that know about them the more $ will be donated. Taking care of these babies from rescue to the age of 10-13 when they return to the wild is an enormously huge expense and the only way the get $ is from us. So please donate whatever you can. Even $5 or $10 will feed a couple of babies a bottle! That milk is expensive you know because they have to add supplements and coconut oil to it.

Elephants r smarter than humans but if patriarchs r dead then history of finding water died also! So wish humans could be loving as elephants r! Thought huge male was looking for some action, not water. Around too many tomcats. Wonder if lack of water is why calf was abandoned like that? Spunky calf!🐘💜🐘

So to love an elephant to let him/her go to the wild is true love. So Dame Daphe has to keep diff keepers shifting for the elephants sake also. They can die from a broken heart & missing the bond with just ONE keeper would hurt too much. Dont know how keepers let them go, especially when u find that true bond. Is this why only males r keepers bc they know it is best for the elephant to be free?
@mamaboocee
@mamaboocee 2 года назад
@@spicyirwin5835 i think it mostly men because of two reasons. The men have more muscle mass to deal with these powerful animals - they can be dangerous even when just being playful and i think their indigenous society prohibits women from having these kinds of jobs although there are some women there in this kind of work. And yes, the men might be more psychologically equipped to actually let the elephants eventually go - although women also want their "children" to succeed in life without them. I know that is my wish for my children - to succeed without needing me.

Fantastic news that the wild ones are coming back. Juvenile males without adult bulls to mentor and teach them how to behave can wreak havoc and they also go into musthe too early. When they were showing Korah (sp) sparring with the other young orphan bull, he shouldn’t be that aggressive at his age. If adult bulls were around, they would temper this behavior and their mere presence would stop young bulls from going into early musthe.

I too agree that the poachers need MUCH tougher penalties! I understand life is incredibly hard for the people who have to try to survive on nothing, and it must be tempting to try to get some money from the elephants tusks. It’s hellishly hard to watch your children go hungry, for anyone, but the price is just too high. Besides, I think most poachers are professional murderers, not starving villagers. We need elephants in our world, our children need to be able to experience these magnificent animals too! The best way to deal with poachers is for absolutely no one to buy, use or sell ANYTHING with ivory in it!
