Another "mod" that I did inside the tent was I installed one of those TV LED strips that is meant to be adhered on the back of your tv. I have it installed inside above the main door. This gives me the option of color and dimming. So far the adhesive backing hasnt failed and its a better option than the LED that came with the tent.

I did the same! My issue with the light being at the top in the back was that I had to crawl in to turn it on. What I did was put one in the entrance so when I go up the steps I can turn it one right away

My son is still too young to climb the ladder so the wife and I have been holding off on a roof top tent. Interested to hear your long term thought on wind noise at night with this hard shell. I have the full front runner rack on my 2015 Rubicon and love the cargo space. Hesitant to lose all of that space for a fixed mounted tent but I will keep watching reviews on them to learn more. Thanks again for the awesome reviews and the Jeep is looking good!

I have the kargo safari ones but they have since been bought out by metal cloak. They don’t have this particular model anymore (and good thing because it rusted easy. I had to get the rust off and then used POR 15 to make it like new again)

I recently added the metal cloak steps and they are amazing. They also allow you to Mount in a fashion that takes into account the alignment of the door. Meaning you can Mount two bolts at a time and not screw up your door alignment. Awesome product and great customer service.

Did you move the factory rails under the tent to center it more to be able to attach it to your roof rack? I see the extra whole so was wondering. I have the pioneer platform and am trying to figure out how I’m going to attach a rtt. Better option I think then drilling into my platform. Was it hard to move the tent rails.
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 года назад
Actually didn't need to do anything! The rails go through the tent long ways but the front runner rack has their channels going the other way. I just needed the to get the brackets from front runner as it's sized to go from one of their rails to the other. If both were going the same way, yeah, I would have to make some adjustments under the tent.

I don't actually. Weird. Have you brought it up to them? That was one of the things I actually looked for and fortunately never had the issue
@brianrodriguez4075
@brianrodriguez4075 2 года назад
Yeah I brought it up to Sherpa Equipment Co since they are the rack manufacturer, since it’s so large they said it might jiggle slightly. They said if I didn’t have the tent risers and rest it on the crossbars then all that jiggling would’ve been noise transferred through the rack into the vehicle. Dude I love your build btw! Super clean!

I’m getting this tent. I have a question, considering the length of the tent do you believe it is stable on a short rack system such as yours? I’m looking at the Rhino Rack Back Bone system with cross bars and don’t know if I should go with a two bar or three bar system. Love your channel. Just subscribed.
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 года назад
I had the same concerns and did a LOT of measuring before I made the decision. The length of my rack is pretty much the same as Rhino Back Bone platform and the rack pretty much covers 3/4 of the tent base so yeah, stable. And when we sleep, we pretty much sleep in the area where the rack is- not where the overhang is (which isn't a lot). Also as far as mounting, you'll notice my tent also somewhat goes OVER the rear of the rack a bit so that helps center it even more. I haven't had issues at all. Hope that answers your question.
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 года назад
Just for security, I would go with the 3 bar if it concerns you. Might be overkill but better overkill for things like this than not feel secure about it.

@@BaptismOverland Thanks for your great video, i enjoy all of them. I'm in the midst of choosing roof rack (Front Runner, ARB Base Rack, Rhino Rack Platform), with the plan of buying Hard shell RTT eventually. Hard shell RTT are quite heavy (above 70kg), after some comparison, Rhino Rack barely can handle that weight with their backbone system, it's already hitting the max weight. A few questions hope you can help me: 1. The front runner rack seems quite tall already, with the RTT rails + RTT install kit, it seems even taller? Wouldn't it be better to use just cross bar, so that easy to install, and lighter weight, and lower profile? 2. Without the Front Runner RTT mounting kit, will it be a lot harder to install. I'm trying to minimize the height. 3. Can you expand your Front Runner Rack to full length easily, so that you have more cargo space? Would you recommend me to go for full length rack? 4. do you know if the full length rack allow me to install a snorkel to JK too? Thanks.
@BaptismOverland
@BaptismOverland 2 года назад
@@jasontan822 1. Yes. Cross bars would be easiest and lightest. I didn't go that route because I wanted to mount other things to roof rack like awnings and such. You can't really mount awning to tent rails because there's a slight angle pointing downwards. I know rhino has the crossbars with adapters to put an awning on the side. But in the event I move the tent I wanted use of the rack still
