Eleven Mile Beach in Esperance is considered by some as one of the more scenic beaches while also being a lovely family beach. It's located at the western most point of the Great Ocean Drive ( roughly the half way point ) and is site # 20 of the Esperance's Great Ocean Drive . Although the beach is named Eleven Mile Beach it isn't actually 11 miles ( or 17.6 kms ) from the town of Esperance, it's 21kms.
The view of Eleven Mile Beach is stunning from the moment you you pull in to the car park however to get down the water's edge you need to walk down a set of long wooden steps.
Take your time and enjoy the view on both sides of the walkway as you make your way down. To the left is the calm open beach and the right you are treated to a rugged coastline as it gently enters the Great Southern Ocean.
If you're not up to the trek down to the beach you can take in the view from one of several rest areas thoughtfully placed at intervals on the way down, don't forget your camera!
