I am VERY pale, and the "fair" shade in the Elf product is quite dark. But, it still looks really nice under my foundation! I LOVE it!

I own both products. Honestly I like the elf better. Under my foundation it does give a nice glow and for the price you basically can get 3 bottles of it and it comes out to the Charlotte Tilbury after taxes. After finishing my makeup I couldn't tell the difference. I'm definitely going to finish up the Charlotte Tilbury. But I'll stick to the elf and I had no problem finding my shade. It's a nice product. Also it's all about how you prep your face

I only own the elf one but it's good to see the comparison because I now know the elf is more what I'm after. I don't highlight with it, I more use it as a luminous base (is it still a base if I don't wear foundation?) it just makes my 50yr old face look more hydrated and soft. I hadn't thought about how not light the lightest shade is but it definitely works well for light olive skin tones.

I think the L’Oréal Lumi glowtion is a closer dupe to CT… I haven’t heard much about it in a few years!!! Weird.. Those elf budgeproof eye pencils? Absolutely amazing!! Just move quickly-it’s hard to remove if you make a mistake… really nice!!💋♥️💋♥️

I have fallen in love with the Milani Soft Focus Glow Complexion Enhancer in its lightest shade (I think it only comes in 3, but it's pretty sheer but buildable). I've never seen anyone talk about it though. It might be a best kept secret! I'll have to try the Elf out since I'm sure it'll be easier to get my hands on. Thanks for another great video 🤗

Thanks, Catherine! It's why I'll probably always film with a dSLR camera. So many of the newer/smaller cameras have software filters turned on that you literally can't completely disable, and for purposes like this where I want to see details and exact reality, not some glossed-over blurred interpretation of perfection, old-school is the way to go!

For the same effect, the Missha Bb boomer can be mixed into foundation. That’s what I use. I’m positive the Elf would be too dark for me as well.

I never tried the CT one but I do like the e.l.f. one, I mostly use it as a base to get a more glowy finish, I think it looks really nice 👍 for what I've seen not exactly a dupe, but a good more affordable alternative... hugzzz 💜

It took several months but I finally managed to get a bottle of the elf Halo Glow. I just happened to be shopping at Target the other day and they were stocking it while I was in the cosmetics dept. It is so gorgeous on the skin! I love the glow it gives my skin rather than a highlighter type of glow, aka/no shimmer. ☺

I have a mini Charlotte Tilbury & I ended up buying two of the elf ( fair) halo 😇 because I knew it was going to sell out again ! I like them both. I think the Charlotte Tilbury is probably a little bit better color match !

Totally agree with you!! And it looks really nice under foundation. Because it has more coverage it looks nice on it's own for days when you don't want to wear foundation. I think it's a dupe most definitely for the CT!

I can't afford the CT. I got my hands on the halo glow just before Christmas and I LO-HOVE it soooo much. I have the wet & wild pf foundation (not dewy one) and I wasn't happy with the shade and I didn't like that it was matt. With the halo glow under it the shade is perfect and it's dewy and I will now use it up. Next on my list is one of their O Face (weird name) lipsticks. They're supposed to by hydrating and long lasting according to other youtubers.

I agree the elf one should have lighter shades. I have both products too. They're both amazing in their own ways. I can justify having both. I have shade 2 and 1 in Charlotte Tillbury. I really can't get a highlighted effect with the elf like I can with the HFF. but it's beautiful as an all over base, which I don't do with charlotte.

I use this as a primer all over under foundation. Huge Charlotte Tilbury fan. A couple of years ago, Essence made a great dupe. Why did they stop? I just got the elf as well, but will still always have the CT in my arsenal! PS... I like L'oreal's Glotion better, just sayin...

Thank you so much for being honest. Personally I feel the CT side looks almost oily. Probably because I am a shiny shiny skinny 🤣. I get free highlighter from pores within an hour of applying foundation 🤔.

I have both, and I like the Elf version better. Plays incredible well under makeup and I think it provides more coverage. Great product, and you can't beat the price. I did have to buy the lightest shade, since the light was too dark. Elf has just become incredible. Shelly, my foundation guru, since I can't find the NYX Born to Glow, can you recommend a similar foundation, that is cruelty free? Thank you. ❤❤❤

Have you tried the Purito Cica Clearing BB cream? It's very, very similar to the Born to Glow in how it looks on the skin (and you know how I love anything with centella asiatica!) If you don't require it to be drugstore, the LYS Triple Fix Serum Foundation is also similar (though at $22 it's not really prestige pricing either, considering some of the drugstore brands have breached the $20 mark with their foundations). Both are also vegan.

Shelly, I was thinking of maybe using as all-over cover with the Elf. Over 60s with lines and super dry skin. Do you think the Elf would exaggerate stuff on an older face? I’m looking for very sheer coverage, just something to even out the skin tone and add hydration. Thank you!

I think it would work since it doesn't have the same shimmer that the Charlotte Tilbury does. This is an example where I think the Elf would work better for an all-over application.

The main reason why I never try the elf version is because I’ve heard their “fair” shade isn’t fair at all. Whereas the CT fair shade is actually a fair shade. Unfortunately the CT fair shade was sold out for over a year 🙄 but I finally got my hands on it and love it 🙌🏻

I use the Beauty Pie equivalent. The overall problem with that one is that it only comes in one shade. Luckily, it's the right shade for me. But if I didn't have that one, I'd absolutely by the Charlotte

I haven't gone international yet as I am not yet able to consult tax professionals on the legal requirements of selling internationally, and the soap and cosmetic-graded products are more complicated when it comes to international regulations. So it's something I'm not ready to get into yet (both legally and financially). I hope to get to that point someday!
