The voice of the majestic British Empire echoes through time in this historical document Elgar conducting his own masterpiece, ENIGMA VARIATIONS. Bravo.

Interesting to note how this is played at a much faster pace than in performances by other conductors.

Well, that's pretty much that. As an aside, can you imagine if Mahler lived until 1940? I think we'd all be broadsided by his tempo changes. But who knows?

Having got a copy of this 1926 Recording Reissued in 1957 by His Master's Voice for the Centinuary of Elgar's Birth on a Red and Gold label Record Number ALP-1464 I feel that this Recording is far better than the 1920-21 Recording as it's more full Bloodied and clearer and it's Coupled with the Serenade for Strings and the Cockanage Overture and all the Recordings were Made between 1926 and 1933:and the Violin Concerto ALP-1456 is the famous 1932 Recording with a 16 year old Yehudi Menuhin and the London Symphony Orchestra Originally issued on six 78rpm Records:Record Numbers DB-1751 DB-1756 and I've been Collecting Yehudi Menuhin's Records both on Pre war 78rpm and LP Vinyl for over forty years and I've got a copy on Pre war 78rpm in the Original Pre war album and the Falstaff BLP-1090 has been Transferred from four 78rpm Records

I'm not a violinist but I notice a distinctly different playing style throughout many of the passages. It's like a glissando effect that I haven't heard applied on any of the modern recordings.

Come to think about it this 1926 Recording is a lot different Compared to the earlier 1920-21 Recording and on this one Sir Edward Elgar was able too express himself a lot more than in the earlier one and one can hear it more so on the 1957 Red and Gold Reissue Record Number ALP-1464 and it was such a shame that we the British Public had to wait until the 1970's to hear the LP Transfer of the 1928 Recording of the Elgar Cello Concerto on(EMI)World Records Record Number SH-175 and it was such a shame that he died before the 1935 Silver Jubilee Celebration's
