Congratulations to the UniversitätsChor München for performing these songs. Elgar owed more to Germany than we realise. Elgar was a self-taught composer but not by choice. Not for nothing did he want to study in Leipzig as a young man. Not until The Dream of Gerontius was successfully performed in Dusseldorf was he acknowledged as a great composer
