Heads up everyone streaming/recording from the PS5 with the Elgato 4K X. If you have PC with Windows 11. PLEASE READ!!! After spending a week trying to get my audio to work and capture. I had to go to Sound settings. Scroll down to Output devices. Click on Elgato 4K X and make sure you Disable (Turn OFF) windows audio enhancements and/or spatial sound. NOTHING BUT LOVE FUTURE STREAMERS!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

I have a 2019 MacbookPro 6 core intel i7 processor. I’m using it to stream on twitch through obs. Right now I’m just watching RU-vid videos on my 2022 IpadPro 4th generation. And video capturing the iPad and using my iPhone 14promax as my webcam. When I record it looks perfect and I can edit and post on RU-vid, BUT when I stream it is incredibly laggy! I don’t use a capture card and was wondering if that would take the lag away. And if so which one should I buy for my MacBook. The hd60x or the 4kx . I do have my ps5 and was also thinking about streaming that as well. Your videos have been very helpful since I am trying to stream with all Mac devices. Please let me know how I can get the most out of my MacBook to get rid of this lag. I was going to to Best Buy tomorrow to buy whatever else I need to make it run smooth.

Okay @MidnightMan I’ve found you recently and you’ve been a big help. The Mac streaming game is a struggle. I have a question no one has an answer to that you seem to have no problem with. Bear with me. My setup: Xbox Series X, Astro A50X, LG C2 Evo, 2022 M2 MacBook Pro. Currently using a HD60 X. Was researching and planning on getting the 4k X. Until I started seeing multiple people online having issues with the 4K X on macOS. People are reporting the 4K X is being identified as a 5Gbps device by Macs across the board instead of a 10Gbps device. Causing it to only capture at tops 4K 30fps. No HDR either. I’ve heard this from people using M1, M2 Ultra, and M3 MAX believe it or not. In your video this doesn’t seem like a problem for you. Unless I missed something. Please let me know what you think about this, if there’s a solution or if there’s not. Looking forward to a full setup video from you utilizing this card on Mac for some clarity if you don’t respond to this. Thanks for the content.

You don't need it trust me. Current gen consoles tend to only play 4k games at 30fps which the HD60X already covers. Also the HD60X is already capable of 120fps passthrough

Just bought it last week using it with my PS5! Thanks for all your help and the dozens of videos I watched of yours. With my PS5 steaming setup I am using: - Elgato CamLink 4k - Elgato Chat Link Pro - Elgato 4K X - Beelink Mini PC, Ryzen 7 Ser5 Pro 5700U (because my MacBook Air wasn’t powerful enough) THANK YOU FOR THIS SUGGESTION IN YOUR AMAZON LIST! - Basic Tonar USB microphone (not best does job) I am new to streaming and based everything and settings from you. I am also part of discord and thank you for that also it helps me and I help others. When using PS5 people should remember to turn off “Ebable HDCP” in PS5 system settings

@@Troyjl_3 Should've stuck with the HD60X based on what you have. The only real benefit of the 4KX is recording 4k120. The HD60X can do 4k30(the highest that ps5 games output), 1440p60, and 1080p60. Not to mention it will allow you to play your games at 120fps.

Looking to start this next month. Going to use obs but capture gaming footage from Xbox series S. I am planning on making RU-vid only content, mainly long form, with commentary editing. It seems like the 4K is the way to go at this point. I think I tried the 1080p capture card a few years back and notice a major downgrade in picture quality while playing my game from the Xbox one x.

Hello, do you know if having this capture card will solve problem with obs stutter. I just have one pc with RTX 4090 where i play and record and 4k tv with 120hz and vrr but my games runs at 4K 90-100fps so when i record videos on obs at 60 fps it makes video stuttering i guess because of out of sync frames, but when i cap my games to 60fps I don't have video stutter anymore... I heard its VRR problem with obs...I want smooth video at 60 fps and want to play on 120 fps. What should i do? How you manage to record 120 fps games without stutter? Thanks a lot in advance!

So the hdmi 2.0 difference with other bad hdmi cables will bug out so use a good short one atleast in the input that died it from disconnecting and reconnecting

EDIT: I have 2560x1440 144hz monitors, and i am not considering going up in the near future, maybe not even in 10 years quite possibly... So my computer is very old. Hitting 6 years soon but I have a laptop. My question is. I want to use my laptop and this to capture my media from old computer BUT using the laptop to record via a TB2 connection hard drive external hub. It should be possible but I do know some times software won’t allow external connections and need to be on the main HD. Currently rocking a dual 7200 rpm hub set up. One with 24TB storage and other at 6TB to off set SSD degradation on main HD.

Hey 1st off thank you for your videos, very informative!! Question tho?? I have the HD60x and using it on a xbox series x. Anyway I went into the xbox settings and set it to speakers and headphone to capture my party chat. I use obs with streamlabs plugin and it did not pick up my party chat. I then downloaded the elgato software to switch the audio from HDMI to analog and that did indeed work, but the audio is super super low with everything turned all the way up in obs. My question is, can I just avoid downloading the elgato software, am I doing something wrong, idk can you help please??

You can add a gain filter to your audio source in OBS for the HD60 X, that way it'll be louder!

I have a Mac book 12 Farley new from Best Buy I have a el gato hd60x ever day it’s a battle to try and have my mac see the monitor screen everything works but my Mac itself isn’t picking up the game it’s just black the screen my webcam and myself are there but the game isn’t on the Mac it’s on the tv and everything’s running well but it’s always a battle everyday in plugging and plugging redownloading the one studio and deleting to redownloading what am I doing wrong. As I said I keep doing everything restarting computer powering off computer some times random techniques get it but it’s EVERYDAY. Please help anyone

That appears to be so from the tests. I think there’s room for flexibility in those numbers, but either way it’s practically the same

You forgot to say that the 4K is not able to record 4K60fps on M chipset Macs, since those systems are only registering it as a 5 Gpbs device and as such, maxes out at 4K30fps. Elgato knows about the issue for a while now, but still hasn't provided any solutions, so anyone who is planning to record on a M1-2-3 Mac, should stick to the HD60X.

What's weird is that yes, for me it's also coming in at 5Gbps but yet I can still choose to record in 4K60 and even 120. I'm working to get more info as to why this is. I could have possibly been shipped a card with updated firmware as I got mine sent directly from Elgato.

Well i bought the HD60 X last year to start streaming my PS5 from Obs with my M2 Mac 16" and my only issue is that i am limited to 1440p if i wanna play at 120Hz... Definitely can get behind this and has been good enough so far, but i do see myself eventually buying the new 4K X to get the higher 4K res my LG C2 supports at 120Hz. it's just that entry price tho lol... super expensive upgrade ! you can record in that, not stream because streaming platforms don't support inputting that quality. The benefit of this capture card is to play games in super high refresh rates and resolutions while recording in those qualities. Stream quality will not change.

If I play my games at 4k 240 and want to capture at 60 hz 4k will this still be an issue? I have a 4090 and have used AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 but had issues so I returned it right away.

4K240 is not a supported resolution, as per the chart it only goes up to as high as 4k144 MAX

Not something crazy actually. A 6core processor either from Intel and amd and maybe a Gtx 1650 or preferably something from the rtx line like rtx 3050 up. You can also try the rtx 2060. Preferably 12-16gb of ram. Dual channel of course.

Are you playing in 4k on your pc or console? It’ll be hard to play in 4k new titles with a budget - mid range GPU. If you are playing 4k on ps5 it should be fine to record and edit with.

@@JusH25 I play in 4K on my PS5 when i use my TV. However, when i stream, i run the feed through my Elgato HD60s+. So the quality is knocked down to 1080p :/ I'm getting a new computer setup soon, and just wanted to know if it was worth switching to this card or not.

@@Just_Biscuit_Gaming if you’re okay with the 1080p quality, then Yh it’s totally fine. All the specs I mentioned above should be more than okay to do the capture. Even specs lower than that should be okay.

May need to drop your bitrate down some, and make sure your using the hardware encoder. My M1 max was able to handle 4K60 pretty well

4K is clearly better, but what's better for you will depend on the resolution your playing your games. If you're not playing your games in 4K120 for example, there's no need to get the 4K X, even though it's the best capture card.

I didn't like it. Digitnow is better. 4K elgato lags when playing on screen. Same with the 60HD Digitnow Capture 4K Pro doesn't have the problem. But the color does come out better on Elgato. I've been using Digitnow 4K Pro for 3 years and I'm not leaving it.

The 4KX seems like the most out of place, if not useless capture card yet. The only real practical thing it has over the HD60X is 4k60, which already rules out the console userbase. As for recording in 120hz, I don't see how that could be used in any way. The only way to really watch vids over 60fps is by self consumption. RU-vid, twitch, etc don't support it.

120 can be useful for creating smooth slow motion shots, but the biggest thing is the ability to play games in 4k120 with the 4K X, that can't be done with the HD60 X

I would not get that card. HD60X is great for low resolution displays, but if you're doing 4K120 absolutely get 4K X
