★ 2022 UPDATE! PLEASE READ! ★ As of 2022, the Elgato Game Capture HD software is no longer compatible with newer Mac computers. Because of this, OBS is likely your best option for recording and streaming using the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+. I am working on an updated tutorial video series that focuses on using the Game Capture with OBS. You can download OBS Studio for Mac at: obsproject.com
Thanks a lot for your tutorials that are definitely helpful. The solution / answer may have been already shared by you somewhere, but as I would like to play on my iMac only and without a second monitor, how do I manage this ? Thanks in advance for your support
Glad it helped! You can technically use your iMac as your gameplay monitor by opening OBS, Quicktime Player or any other software that allows you to view/record video capture devices (webcams, etc.). Then, you can use the "preview" window as your gameplay monitor. While this does technically work, there is going to be a very tiny bit of delay which might not make it good for very accurate games (like competitive first-person shooters). But it is possible!
My problem is I need to change the audio to analogue in the cards own software, to be able to use party chat. but the game capture HD won’t recognize my card😩 I get video on streamlabs but I can’t find any way to change it there. I’m going crazy!! Please help😭😅
Game capture doesn’t see my hd60S+ device so I can’t change it. I’m on the Mac latest OS Monterey 12. 0 0.1. Do you have a workaround. Can’t catch my mic audio and game audio. Thanks in advance 💯
In that case it could be because of the Mac model that you're using. Be sure that your Mac has a USB 3.0 port. And if it's one of the newer M1 Macs, the Game Capture software does not work with the M1 Macs unfortunately. So you would have to use another software such as QuickTime Player or OBS.
Hmm, the Game Capture software seems to be working with MacOS Monterey. It could also be the device you're capturing. If you're using a Playstation, you will need to disable HDCP in the settings.
I got my headphones with a microphone attached to it plugged into my MacBook but I always hear my own voice as I record. I want my voice to be over the gameplay but I don’t wanna hear myself. How do I fix this issue?
Everything is setup like you have but for my Game audio I don't get any frequencies in the Game Capture HD. It stays at 0 no matter how loud I put it. Therefore going onto OBS, I have 0 sound as well. How can I get that fixed? Please help
Mine isn’t working :(. I just got a YahimaSound 2.0-3.0 converter to plug into my late 2011 Mac but after plugging it in and turning on the Switch, it was just black.
I recorded like an hour + recording on Game Capture and now the clips are just frozen shots playing for 26 minutes. How do I get Game Capture to actually capture my gaming footage and output those videos?
A year ago, I made a video talking about setting up the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ with a Mac. After getting a bunch of comments on that video, I thought I would take you through a complete step-by-step tutorial for a basic Game Capture setup! Be sure to check the description for links to some of the things you'll need!
@@walybox If you have a camera with HDMI, you can purchase an Elgato Cam Link and use that with your computer. Or you can get a webcam that can connect directly into your computer. In fact, I just posted a review video of Logitech's StreamCam: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PgEwf-ZjMF8.html
I have the 2021 MacBook Air with the M1 chip. I’m trying to record on the elgato software itself because obs recording isn’t as good but when I save videos on the elgato game capture hd software, it saves as a folder and separates the game audio, voice audio, and the video itself. Is there anyway to fix that
Hey there! I'm trying to connect the switch but it won't go on the computer, it's just on the switch screen which is on the dock. Can you please help? (Btw I'm on the Mac Laptop not Tabletop)
Thanks for watching! If you have the HD60 S (NOT the HD60 S+), it depends on what type of Mac you have. Unfortunately, the HD60 S is no longer compatible with the newer M1 & M2 Macs (You can read more about that here: help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052527791-Apple-Silicon-Compatibility-M1-Chip-?_ga=2.182292647.1694578710.1681872740-1257211974.1681872740). But if you are using an older Mac, you can try downloading the OBS Link software which will let you use your HD60 S with OBS on Mac. You can download the OBS Link software here: www.elgato.com/en/downloads (Just press "SHOW ALL" and scroll down to the Mac section). Hope this helps!
hi! i’ve got everything all set up but the elgato keeps saying “USB 3 is required for this device”.. my friend gave me his HD60 S+ but lost the cord so i had to buy a different one.. is there any way to fix this?
Sounds like you may be having an issue with the cable? Since the HD60 S+ requires a certain type of USB cable, you’ll need to get one that is supported. This one from Amazon seems to be a good option: a.co/d/09IG3ip
Hi! Thanks for the video- this might be a silly question, but do you need both your MacBook and your console hooked up to ethernet directly? As in two different ethernet cords? Or does one just go into the console or hub for the laptop? Thanks for the info!
Thanks for watching! If you're talking about ethernet to connect to the internet, you'll need 2 ethernet cables. 1 into the laptop, 1 into the console.
Love your videos, quick question, whats the best way for example to setup Elgato with the following My iMac playing World of Warcraft My MacBook Pro for Streaming. The iMac does not have any HDMI cable output so what is the best way forward here?
Thanks for watching. Depending on what kind of iMac you have, you can get a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable to output an HDMI signal to the Elgato. * Important to note: You may need an HDMI splitter to bypass the Mac's HDCP. (I use this one: a.co/d/bq5xxdy)
@@NotAnti2 I can't say for sure since I haven't used it myself. But from what I've seen, the M1 13-inch Macbook Pro might be enough to stream from -- you may want to upgrade it to 16GB RAM if possible just to be safe.
question - the Satechi dongle you put on the screen says in the second bullet that it does not support video display, does this mean it wont work? im currently using a random USBc-USCB cable to connect my Elgato to my MacBook Pro 2021 and there is terrible drop frame. Assuming it is because of the crappy usbc-uscbc cord im using and not the cord that came in the box?
"Does not support video display" just means that you cannot use it to add a display to your computer; it will still work for USB devices like the Elgato Game Capture. Yes, you'll need to use the included USB-C cable.
Thank you for the video! I followed your advice all the way. I have an HD60 S+ with a brand new 14 inch MacBook Pro 2021. I purchased the recommended GODSPIN Cable, and I have everything hooked up correctly. My PS5 is showing up on my TV correctly, but nothing is registering on my computer as far as the capture card goes. Do you have any other advice on anything else I can try? Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching! It sounds like you may need to disable the HDCP setting on your PS5 if you haven't already. To do so, go into your PS5 Settings --> System --> HDMI --> and turn off the "Enable HDCP" setting. Hopefully that works!
@@ChaseYama I did try that. Sadly, it did not work. I contacted the company and will try to get a replacement capture card, and hopefully that will work! :)
@@soccerchica91 Sorry to hear that In the meantime, it might also be worth it to try out OBS (obsproject.com) if you haven't already. I think the Elgato software doesn't play well with the newer Macs. To add your Game Capture, click the + button under "Sources," Click "Video Capture Device," then "Game Capture HD60 S+." I'll probably need to update this video because Elgato seems to have changed a lot with the newer Macs. Hope you're able to find a solution though!
Im actually going insane trying to figure this out. I got the Chat Link Pro for my PS5 so I can use headphones and have audio going to the HD60s+ (Sony decided to not have a dual audio output so audio can only go through the HDMI or headphones; not both. Xbox I think you can). Every video is see is windows based its an easy fix when selecting analog audio. When trying to select analog audio in device settings in game capture HD software, Im able to check off the box but no audio comes through. Tried the multiple controller method and tried to mess with PS audio settings as well but no dice. Anyone able to get analog audio to work on a mac with the chat link pro? Im on the M1 so obs link doesn't work. Any ideas?
Hi I have the exact same macbook pro model and capture card. I am not capturing any footage; my capture card is not being detected. I plugged it in correctly, but I am not seeing any footage. On the rare occasion that I get anything, it blacks out and never comes back! Help! This is serious!
Be sure to use the USB 3.0 cable that was included with the capture card. Also, it may be something to do with the USB-C to USB 3.0 conversion since the Macbook Pro does not have the correct USB port.
@@ChaseYama yeah I am using the USB 3.0 cable that came with the capture card. I managed to make it work after shutting down and resetting my laptop. I am just worried that I cannot repeat it. I am hoping to get a better USB 3.0 if I can.
how do i use it while looking at my tv/ monitor? i dont want to watch the laggy video on the macbook screen? do i need a third hdmi to put into the computer? or does the usb connection work? im so confused
You can technically use the Macbook screen itself. However, there will be a bit of a delay. So, I would recommend using an HDMI connection. You would only need 1 TV/monitor if you're using a Macbook. The HDMI connection goes into the Elgato and then outputs to the TV/monitor. Then, the Elgato is plugged into the Macbook via USB 3.0.
Would you know how to make the game audio work on the software for me it doesn’t work so I’m just wondering I’ve had this problem and I just got the HD60 S+
Did you figure out those issue? I am helping my buddy set it his up. For whatever reason Mac saves the audio under a different file. Not sure why you can't have them combine like on windows
While you can technically use your Mac to view your Game Capture, there is a very slight delay so it's not recommended. It is recommended to have a monitor to plug your Game Capture into. However, it is possible.
So I have a M1 Macbook Air (2020). Using OBS, I’m able to stream my gameplay with no issues. (I have a USB mic for commentary that works perfectly fine) My main issue now is that my stream can’t hear the game audio or the party chat audio, even with the elgato HD60s+ & Chat Link Pro. I’ve been scouring the internet trying to figure out how to make it work, but I’m still unable to make it work. I’ve followed all instructions I can find & still nothing. 😭😭 Do you happen to know what the issue may be or how I can fix it? I’m about to start pulling my hair out over this😂💀💀🙏🏼
My best guess is that you may need to change audio inputs in OBS if you are using the Chat Link Pro. You may also need to go into the Game Capture HD app and select the Analog Audio option (Which I show in this video at 9:25) Might also be worth it to triple check that you have all of your cables run properly. Here's the tutorial from the official Elgato RU-vid channel: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vioEEbvM50w.html
If I'm not mistaken, the Game Capture HD60 S+ only works with the included USB 3.0 cable. I'm guessing it has something to do with the grading of the included cable? But from what I've seen, the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ only works with the included USB 3.0 cable.
So I followed all of these steps but my switch game would display on twitch/Elgato software 😭 I have a 2021 Mac, Elgato HD60S+ and I downloaded the software
According to Elgato's website, it seems that the Game Capture HD software is not compatible with the new M1 Macs. (help.elgato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052527791-Apple-Silicon-Compatibility-M1-Chip-) So, you may need to use a different software such as OBS or QuickTime Player to record.
