Blindness being a weakness doesn't make sense...it heightened his other senses to the point of making him superhuman. Hears a cats light footsteps, smells the dirty highwaymen hiding, instinctive shooting at an expert marksman level. It's probably one of his biggest strengths.
Actually, from a religious context, prophets (of which Eli is one) are seers. So, his blindness increases the irony but at the same time reinforces the religious overtones in the movie.
Not being at to see will always be a weakness. Like would you rather be able to see and use all senses, or not see and be slightly more sensitive in other senses
@@Mercer13958 I’m a Hebrew Israelite, but I’m Mexican. Read the bible man, hopefully you wake up. How does our seed have the power to create a human being? Your gonna tell me that’s just evolution ? That’s just how it is? Tell me then, how was man and woman made ? Through evolution ? No bro, that’s impossible, you can’t develop consciousness, that’s the spirit. Read the Bible,
That 1st gun battle scene when he's shooting people off the roof is still one of the greatest action sequences in film history. I'm still amazed today. You could FEEL the danger.
A guy standing out in the open who just hits everything & can't be hit? It's one of the stupidest, laziest scenes ever. The only thing worse than this low IQ garbage is the bar scene where everyone just runs up to him to get decapitated one after the other.
Yeah but the only problem with that scene is the amount of bullets he had in that mag. No visible extended mag... It would have made more sense if it was 30 round mag SMG.
a prequel about ELI would be awesome. The synopsis would be his stages of faith. first being a non-believer into being doubtful by his faith. Meeting many people along the journey leading to the movie version of ELI. A stone cold disciple of God.
I just mentioned it would be interesting if Eli's father was a Black National and part of Eli's journey was embracing Christianity as just another of God's forms. Race doesn't mattered much to Eli but since going blind and the bombs he could care less.
In the movie he says he's been carrying it around for about 30 years & reading every single day. So I think it's possible. Really special movie with a strong message.
Weakness is blindness, but it's also his stregth because it heightened his other senses. The reason blindness is his weakness because he can't see color, light, etc... But nonetheless, he didn't let that slow him down.
I wonder why they always add more sound effects for animals in movies. As a cat person, I can definitely say that the sounds coming from the cat in the hunt scene is way overdone. It doesn't become dramatic anymore, just a little tacky. If anything, the cat wouldn't make much sound at all.
me and my friend was laughing because its so the funny .. reality fact is no Bible scholar can memorized the whole bible word by word without single mistake because bible have so many version and some of the version dont have the same message in it . when the ending of movie he remember the whole bible word by word with out a single mistake that why i laughing .
Christianity? No. Abrahamic religions? Yes. In the end the Quran, Talmud, and Bible exist side by side in a Library with about 6/700 other books. They are all just books. Just tools. Just weapons. Just medicine. Just what WE as humans make it. It's also important to note that Eli is 100% Muslim. Watch it again.
Book of Eli - a rarity in Hollywood. Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman played their characters so well ; you cannot think of any other actor in those roles. Mila Kunis performance over shadowed her pretty face. Background music - no words to describe..... A well made film in all respects.
You don't understand, God was watching over him. He's practically invincible until his task is completed . To take one bullet but destroy that gang was a bonus and was his fate.
New American Standard Bible: And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 2 Corinthians 12:9
This is one of my all time favorite movies. There are few actors in the same caliber as Denzel Washington. I didn't like the cat killing though. Even though he needed some lip balm.
