Papa, I am Southern born in S C as well my parents are from SC.. we lived in SC NC Ga and va. All of the restaurants and homes I had Thanksgiving and all holidays served mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese homemade. If we had Turkey and dressing and gravy and cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving then we had ham at Christmas orvice versa. There were so many dishes at our meals but Mac. And mashed potatoes had to be there. I am 76 and my hubby and I loved to cook these meals together. He was a papa also and a wonderful cook and even baked the cakes. I have to say I still miss my moms cooking

It's nice to see Papa teaching the kids. He is so patient with them. WE have mac and cheese at every family gathering , I know because I make it. We are from the south.

Nice job Eli we don’t do Mac and cheese but we do something from my tribe called Hulled corn soup , it’s a soup with a thick sauce hulled corn ( yellow corn not white ) and yellow eyed beans and ham
Eli is so precious his smile just makes my heart happy, not that the others don’t but he’s just great but I would love to talk with all of them and of course hugs and kisses this old grandma just loves sweet beautiful children, I know you know how wealthy you are ( not money) but the wonderful gift from the Father. My grandkids absolutely love Mac n cheese! They will eat it everyday if they could. I’m definitely trying this recipe. I’m from Georgia so it’s something that’s at all of our get togethers. Which is often. My son in law is a travel nurse. They have a fifth wheel camper. Our land is their home base. Our son also lives on the same property. We have six kids running around. It’s a blessing to have them all here with us. Definitely going to fix this at our next meal! I love the idea of frying skins and putting them on top of the potatoes. Mashed potatoes are my favorite! I love watching both of your channels!

I live in the uk, I love homemade Mac n cheese, but I make it with cheese sauce and loads of crispy cheese on top, then I put Worcester sauce on it mmmm haha
I noticed on the recipe that it says "2 - 2oz. cans of evaporated milk. Did you use two of the 12 oz. cans? Just wanted to clarify. Maybe it was a misprint on the recipe?

I normally don't make mashed potatoes but the youngest granddaughter requested it forThanksgiving. The Lord will send you what you need even when you didn't know you would. Thank you Papa's Kitchen and Eli💙💗💙
Love this channel! I made the mac and cheese but feel I need to comment. Only cook the pasta for 4 min at a boil in salted water. If you cook any longer the end product of pasta is mushy because of the baking time once assembled. I took a short cut the second time and just mixed cheese together without the layering and poured the liquid over the top then crushed up some buttery crackers and baked. Excellent dish.

All the kids are awesome. Speaks volumes about their parents and their parents parents, for sure. This is not to say that the other kids do not have a magical way but there is something about Eli. He is destined to do something very special.

I love baked Macaroni & Cheese. I do mine In a deep casserole bowl. Butter dish, sprinkle bread crumbs, finely dice a sliver of onion, spread sprinkle lightly over the crumbs. Layer macaroni & cheddar cheese like you did ending with cheese on top. I sprinkle bread crumbs over top, slice 6 slivers of butter scattered across top. Gives it a crust. Pour a can of can milk over top the whole dish. Bake 350 for 45-50 min. 'til lightly brown. In the meantime we've had a large can of peaches in fridge. We pour those in a serving dish with a large serving spoon. When we serve the Mac & Cheese casserole, we ladle a generous serving of peaches over top juice & all. We eat ours like that. It's dinner, our main meal. My Mother-in-law made this when I went for dinner at my Sister-in-laws house. Pretty good. Over the years we started serving it as a side without the peaches when we had company. Omit the hint of onoin here & there.
Wow. Never heard of that combo. What I have done in our home before is a dollop of strawberry jam right in the middle of the Mac and cheese. YUM!!Please don’t tell anyone - I don’t want anyone thinking I’m crazier than I actually am
@@thepapaskitchen this is how my mother in law made it. She served it as the main course with peaches spooned over top with the juice. It was really good.

I have a simple recipe for macaroni. Easy! All you need is half and half. Chicken broth and cheeses and noodles plus garlic with oregano and oh yum!!!!!!!
Papa you are so encouraging to Eli when he is helping you! It is so important to be encouraging to children as they are learning. I also love mashed potatoes with only better salt and pepper. No gravy anywhere near my potatoes! And I'm probably the only other person on the planet who is not a big mac and cheese fan but I might actually try this recipe of yours. It looks very easy and delicious. The only change I might make would be to add a layer of breadcrumbs to the top to make a nice crust. My mom always made homemade sage dressing at Thanksgiving. I guess cornbread dressing is southern and oyster dressing is New England.
