Mr. Jerry. 1st let me tell you I am a Georgia peach. My mama taught me that you only have one Pan that is used for corn bread nothing else is cooked in it. Plus you had one cast iron baking Is Pan for homemade Biscuits. Love your videos. You and miss Susan are enjoyable to watch. And I have a feeling miss Susan was a better cook than she let's own.😊
What fun you send out for us. My grandson and sons and hubby always request my special deviled eggs for Thanksgiving and any holiday for that matter! 😋
I usually finely dice the jalapeños and add to the cornbread mixture, but LOVE the look of the jalapeño rings on top and will try this next time. Thanks! 🤗
We are Native American so Thanksgiving can be dicey discussion for some native families but we do incorporate several native dishes into our meal to get the best holiday meal possible
It is. I just prefer this homemade sauce and it too is fantastic on cold Turkey sandwiches!! Which for me is why you have Turkey in the first place - THE SANDWICHES
Yes, Susan, everyone loves jelled cranberry sauce.. I eat it with cottage cheese, during the year, not just Holidays! but I love Pap's recipe! Enjoy your Thanksgiving day ! Thanks Belle, you are the Best!
Lol you two are a lot of fun to watch! I can imagine Belle has a great time editing your videos! I always save my bacon grease so I can put a spoonful in my cast iron skillet to warm up with the skillet and mix the excess in my batter before I pour it in the skillet. Love the flavor it gives to my cornbread.
Add ½ tsp of cinnamon (or to taste) to your cranberry sauce. It warms things up just a wee bit. Also, use the knife or can opener trick to get some air into the canned pumpkin. Your pumpkin will slide out of the can.
I like cornbread a lot but someone made it with a can of creamed corn was so good that's the only way I make it now little sister liked it to now she has her grandkids making it that way
I loved when Sue said she's your Sue Chef!!! 😂 And I kept saying Cracker Barrel!! Cracker Barrel!! Lol!! Thanks for the laughs and the yummy recipes!! Hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!! 🦃❤🦃
I LIVE IN GA,I AM GOING TO MY GRANDDAUGHTER'S HOUSE,HER HUSBAND IS GREEK SO WE WILL HAVE OUR TRADITIONAL FOOD AND ALSO THE GREEK,IT IS SOOO GOOD.I HOPE THAT Y'ALL WILL HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING,GOD BLESS AND STAY SAFE
See, we grew up with the canned cranberry sauce from Ocean Spray. That is what I now serve my family. It's just a tasty tradition for me so I have never been interested in making homemade. It just won't be the same to us on Thanksgiving without it. Yours does look delicious, and it would be fun to try for a non-holiday meal. Every year for Thanksgiving, it's just our little family of 3. Our son is young, so he doesn't eat a lot of the offerings. But, we order a ham and turkey from Honeybaked Ham and then I make all of the sides myself. We eat earlier in the afternoon, usually around 1-2. Then that night, we make turkey sandwiches for a late night snack. Our turkey sandwiches have to be on soft white bread, lots of mayo, white meat turkey, and black pepper. So good!
Great traditions. Thanks for sharing. You made me want to invite myself to your place and share a sandwich later thanksgiving night 🤣. There is nothing in this world that quite as good as Turkey sandwich on soft white bread. Use Dukes mayo or for a crazy switchup try Miracle Whip
we always made a cranberry relish with uncooked cranberries, two apples one orange and 1-2 cups ground walnuts. Everything was ground in an old fashioned meat grinded and mixed together with 2 large boxs of cherry jello prapared. We had this for Christmas, Thankisgiving and Easter. Goes great with all three!!
We’re in bed with the flu…this my friend is without doubt the best medicine thank you both for making us feel a little better….stay safe well and happy x
Well Papa I love the canned cranberry sauce both whole and jellied. BUT I have never had home made to compare it to. I will make your recipe this holiday👍
My grandmother taught me to mix up the pumpkin, sugar, and spices for our pumpkin pies up to three weeks ahead of thanksgiving. The mixture would strengthen in all those good flavors and then we would add the milk and eggs right before we baked the pies. It’s been a tradition in our family since the late 1800s. Great video today!
Another great vlog. Susan knows those can tricks, lol. I found a cranberry mustard for my turkey sandwich. Very good as well. Bet you will never pass another Cracker Barrel without laughing, I’ll be laughing with you! ❤❤
It's Cracker Barrel...lol. My husband and friend drove my Mom from Florida to New York one time and they kept telling her if she didn't straighten up they were going to buy her a rocking chair and put her on the roof..... Well she passed away in September and our friend sent flowers and the card said to our Cracker Barrel Momma..... such a nice memory every time I hear Cracker Barrel. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
If you open the bottom of the can of cranberry sauce just a little bit with the can opener, after taking the top lid off, it releases the suction and slides out. I like the knife around the edges of the opened can too!! Thumbs up! Please keep the videos coming! I absolutely love Papas Kitchen videos! Especially with Susan on camera and clean up crew!
We are going to our daughter’s home. We grill turkey breasts- seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and herbs such as thyme, rosemary, oregano, and on a bed of citrus slices- oranges, lemons, limes, etc Is extremely tasty and juicy Cornbread dressing- my family recipe, mashed potato’s made with butter, salt, pepper, sour cream, and blue cheese, green bean casserole, sweet potato soufflé,gravy, rolls and my special apple nut Bundt cake, mincemeat tartlets, and pumpkin pie
This looks delicious 😋 I finally learned how to make homemade gravy 3 years ago after a decade of cook Thanksgiving and I feel like it makes the whole dish come together.
For me one the best part after the Thanksgiving celebration is the leftover turkey sandwich! I put turkey, some stuffing, cranberries on rye bread. Both of your recipies look really good!! Pretty sure it was Cracker Barrel, would you believe I went there for the first time in South Carolina!! I had the most delicious chicken pot pie!! I loved the gift shop too!!
I love watching you cook your recipes, you are very thorough with your instructions which helps a lot. Both of these look so good, I want to try the cornbread for sure. Thank you
Wonderful video Papa and Nana. Both recipes look so yummy. I am going to try both. Thank you for sharing these recipes. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to the both of you two. Take care. Peace. My favorite dish is stuffing. Thumbs up to the video.
omg we were just talking about the cranberry sauce out of the can and the debate if you like or not. I grew up with it and still like it. I have to say my favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is my mom's homemade stuffing (like Jill made one year at her house for you and the tribe) or the pumpkin pie.
Thanks for your video, not only informative but also so much fun to watch! Keep up the great cooking for as long as possible, you are an inspiration to me and I suspect many others. Have a wonderful thanksgiving holiday, I had mine already as I am from Calgary, Canada.
Every year I make my famous turkey in a bag and it comes out perfectly, I also make the glazed ham, green bean casserole, sausage sage stuffing, candied yams and this year I’m making homemade cranberry sauce. My sisters bring the other things but they basically come for my cooking so I do the main dishes lol
Cranberry sauce is the best with Camembert cheese on toasted granary bread, absolutely delicious 😋 wishing you a very happy thanksgiving to you both and family, with love from the uk xx🥰🇬🇧
Hey, I love the canned jellied cranberry sauce! My family would riot if we brought anything else to the table.😊 It is not Thanksgiving without my mother’s southern hot pork sausage dressing and baked macaroni and cheese. Even though she has passed away, this is still enjoyed by my siblings and I every Thanksgiving. I wish you two and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday (even if you don’t have the canned cranberry sauce).
Sounds wonderful. This year we decided to NOT do any appetizers - - - we all felt we get too full before the main course. We'll see how that goes over :)
We always had the canned jelly cranberry sauce especially for turkey sandwiches later. My Mama’s stuffing and my beer glazed carrots are must haves but my Mama would make turnip, creamed onions, candied yams, broccoli corn casserole, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, she’d have so many she say everybody doesn’t like everything so she wanted something for everyone. We all loved my Mama’s stuffing and even made stuffing sandwiches she’d say you know your making a bread sandwich know one cared.
I’ll bet Mama’s stuffing was great!! I have a Mashed Potatoes (with an easy twist) and baked Mac and Cheese coming out Saturday then Green Beans and Brussels Sprouts next Wednesday
Just watched your cranberry sauce and corn bread utube. Thanks so much my husband loves the sauce and will make it for him soon. You explain the recipes so well. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
One of our favorite sides is green rice, it has spinach and cheddar cheese, eggs, evap milk, onion, cooked in the crock pot. Never give cranberry sauce to cats, it can cause urinary problems. Your recipe looks yummy. I love it with turnkey and stuffing.
Cranberry dish is delicious! I do a similar version that included walnuts. Looked delicious with the added jalopenos. Here in Grayson County Virginia, the old timers corn bread always had a nice crust on it. Tradition to me.
Yes - - I've done it that way - - - maybe I used too much but I get some in the family (those with little to no sophisticated taste) who think the OJ makes it too sour
I wish you guys the very very best of thanksgivings and the upcoming new year your grandchildren are all just marvelous and I enjoy watching the joy that you find with each one thank you so much for sharing your recipes papa
I always like the cranberry sauce I have had the one you cooked but my preference is the cranberry sauce and I a 67 years old. If someone cooks it I will eat it but otherwise I don't cook it. But I do love your channel and I gleam your recipes and your way around the kitchen you are very good at showing how to cook and you make me laugh. I like the way you and Susan interact very nice.
I'm definitely trying that corn bread recipe, it looks fantastic! And I'm all in for trying the cranberry sauce too. I remember my mother having that canned stuff too that I never ate. Your looks yummy! Thank you for sharing
Great recepies! Babies and very old people also deserve the natural non additive added food...even the cat does if there is any leftovers. ☺️ For Christmas we have fish and veggies, mostly!
Hello y'all my family and I r having our dinner.I work for a church and cook for everyone in our neighborhood to come and have a place to eat.I prepare all wk cooking to make sure I have enough food for at least 150 people.I love putting a smile on my peoples faces.I have been doing this for 21yrs.God bless.
Canadian Traditional Thanksgiving, Turkey,Stuffing, whipped mashed potatoes, home made cranberry sauce, Gravy,glazed/ carmalized brussel sprouts, butter brown sugar/ honey glazed carrots, salad, fresh buns. I've noticed Americans love their mac n cheese and cornbread for the holidays. Happy American Thanksgiving to you and yours🦃
I love pretzel salad. It’s a staple at every holiday meal. We make it with strawberries, raspberries, or whatever berries are available in our freezers.
I used to make the whole meal by myself, including appetizers and desserts! But I’m no longer able due to health issues! Everyone loves my macaroni and cheese, as well as my potato salad! Cooking was my passion. I miss it so much!
My favorite thing to eat for our holiday meals is the dressing/stuffing. My grandma always saved the heels from loaves of bread, any biscuits or cornbread leftovers were saved in the freezer throughout the year and she’d make homemade dressing. It was always so delicious. I’m not as dedicated with my cooking so I do boxed stuffing but I add cranberries, sausage, apples and extra onions and instead of adding all the water it says to use I add some of the drippings from the turkey. (Not much just enough to add that deep rich flavor) I spoon it into a muffin tin (Rachel Ray did it ages ago and my family loved it!) My husband’s favorite thing is “cheesy taters” like his mom used to make. She would use big potatoes halved in the middle and stand them up on the flat end and they would look so pretty. I quarter mine and stretch them a little farther so they’re still around for leftovers. For me dessert has to be pumpkin pie, but for him it’s pecan pie. I haven’t added apple to my cranberries yet but I think I will have to try that next week. I’m very thankful for you all (and your kids and grandkids) God Bless you all 💕
Lol, is it Cracker Barrel? I wish we had one near me in Sandy, Oregon. You two are too cute. I bet you have a wonderful marriage. I lost my Dad last December and my mom this last August. They had a marriage like you two. May the Good Lord bless you both ❤❤
We make ours similarly, with the addition of either cherry, raspberry, or cranberry jello (depending upon what’s available), and drained, crushed pineapple. We pretty much have a traditional meal, though I hate green bean casserole. It still shows up somehow. I’d rather some roasted balsamic Brussels Sprouts, corn, or asparagus even.. my favorite side is my Sweet Potato Casserole With Oat Streusel. It has a sweetness to it, has the butter and brown sugar and seasonings but it’s not that sticky sweet, gooey marshmallow stuff..plus, bonus points for being a little bit healthier. There isn’t usually much, if any left.. I’d be happy to share if you’d like the recipes. Personal favorites are the desserts. I make 2 different Bundt cakes that everyone asks for….Chocolate Chip Dump Cake, and one called The Good Cake. It has a surprise ingredient in it, and the aroma while baking will drive you crazy. I know you’re a scratch cook mostly, but I have to tell you, these cakes do. Not have that box cake taste or texture. Both are very moist. I’d be happy to share these recipes as well. Just let me know!
My most favorite food at Thanksgiving is my momma's oyster dressing. I make a cornbread dressing and she cooks her bread oyster dressing which is fabulous with homemade cranberry sauce as well.
