Eli was born with osteogenesis imperfect, but it was a long journey to his diagnosis. Only after repeated visits to local emergency rooms for treatment of fractures, which typically led to the family being investigated for child abuse, did they land in Dr. Amy McIntosh’s fracture clinic. Dr. McIntosh took an interest in Eli’s story and spent the better part of a year ordering various tests to find a proper diagnosis. Thanks to her out-of-the-box thinking, Eli no longer has to spend time in body casts and has more time to be a kid as he learns the tricks to staying fracture-free.
