I was once friends with a girl that honestly changed my life. I was 17, had bad social anxiety, introverted, awkward. To try and help over come it I joined a musical theatre group, performing in musicals during school holidays and doing workshops on friday afternoons during school term. That's when I met her. I don't remember if I talked to her first or she talked to me, or why I even did end up talking to her, but we hit it off, fast. eventually we were hanging out after school outside of workshops, on the weekends, messaging each other all the time. I started going to youth group after workshops with her just to hang out more. She had me star in her short film for a school assignment. We spent so much time together and were slightly more intimate than "just friends" that people thought that we were dating, which we both denied, and while deep down I wanted it to be true, she told me that she had a crush on this guy from her school. No big deal, she would still steal my jumpers regardless. However, once I graduated high school we drifted apart. She was just going into grade 12 herself, and I was too old for the youth group and couldn't afford to do workshops anymore. I eventually let her know I felt, but I was rejected. Oh well, I've been rejected many times before. I eventually started going on dates with other people but no relationships came about because I wasn't over her. No matter what something in the back of my head would ask "but what about her? you still love her don't you?". It really broke me for a while. It wasn't until a few years later when I finally realized that she had some really bad views on certain political issues that I finally said to myself that enough is enough and I need to finally move on. I haven't talked to her in nearly 2 years at this point. I've found out that after 5+ years and multiple rejections she finally started dating the guy she liked. Good for her, but I would've given up much earlier than that, and I did. I thought I'd share my story of love and heartbreak on this song in particular because the title sums it up very well. I was tired of pining for her. I was tired of having potential relationships fail because I couldn't get my mind off her. I was tired of feeling that way for her when she didn't want to have anything to do with me anymore.

Today I walked my dog just as usual. Listening to songs like this one and I realized how carefree she is whenever we walk the same path day and day out. She’s always the most excited she can be once she realizes it‘s time for her walk but once we get into the woods she’s as calm as can be. She just enjoys the moment, stopping every meter or so to happily take a smell of plants she’s smelled like a hundred times before. From time to time she looks up and just smiles at me with a huge grin and then proceeds to enjoy a peaceful moment in nature. No matter if it’s starts to rain a little or if it’s a little late she always finds a way to enjoy the simplest things in life. Even though she sometimes stops for a Milli second to bite her tail, she always goes back to happy mode and keeps on going. This made me realize I should also take a walk trough the a woods as a peaceful moment and that I should also enjoy the small things in life more and just turn my mind of any negative feeling for that moment in peace with nature and a carefree dog. I don‘t know you but you could possibly need moments like these. So go out there and just start enjoying the things around you even if it’s just for a little while.

I'm not sure how to describe my so called "love" for him.
