The great Elio Pace and his brilliant band perform a truly awesome version of 'Sweet Inspiration' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, April 25th 2010.
Elio hands over lead vocal duties to his three fabulous girl singers, (from L-R: Kirstie Roberts, Sue Acteson and Chloe Buswell). As a sax player myself and having played this song with my band for years (nowhere near as good as this) I was interested to hear the new horn arrangement in this version which is absolutely brilliant and so well played by the guys in the band, Adrian Fry (trombone), Paul Newton (trumpet), Pete Effamy (alto sax) and Adrian Revell (baritone sax). I've since listened to numerous versions of this song and not one of them feature this horn arrangement. I can only assume that Elio must have come up with it himself. That and the extended bridge section which, again, doesn't appear in any other version I've heard. A truly talented guy. (I hope Elio doesn't mind us doing HIS arrangement from now on.)
I should also mention the other three fantastic guys in the band: Darren Loveday (guitar), Bryan Hargreaves (drums) and Neil Fairclough (bass).
