That's the brilliance. And it seems to me to be completely genuine. I think he laughs at the end when he realizes he is also 50% of the joke. These moments are why we like going to work.
I have watched this dozens of times and it still makes me laugh! There's something so endearing about her not getting it -- I'm sure she's quite bright -- and his attempts to explain it without success. I've been at both ends of such situations :)
I think at the end he realizes it was not her not getting it. But her going down a totally different path. A fair, logical path. But so different. And that's why he laughs so hard.
I can see where she's coming from. Terms like Paleo bowl, Keto bowl etc may give an impression that theres some new kind of edible bowls to serve the food in. Because such concept of serving food was already in practice and she was aware of it, hence the confusion.

I had the exact same confusion when my friend offered me a bowl from Chipotle, "why would I eat a bowl?". So this blooper just had be dying of laughter! XD

I can't believe how many rude people were in the comments so critical about you over a simple misunderstanding which happens to everyone, just not on the morning news. Excellent discussion! I have had similar discussions with my closest friends. What seems so simple to me seems to completely baffle a few of my closest friends. Sometimes a few of my closest friends just assume I will immediately "get" the conversation and my mind might be totally somewhere else and then I get to be the Ding Dong of the Day. You both have a crazy and fun laugh. Joe was so tolerant while explaining the concept of bowls, whether edible or to only be eaten from. I applaud your persistence in getting to the bottom of the bowl confusion.

You’re doing exactly what she did. He doesn’t have to say burrito bowl because it’s not a burrito bowl. It wouldn’t be “paleo”. Additionally anything called a burrito bowl doesn’t make sense since it’s not a burrito and is gimmicky.
Remember when Taco Bell had a dish that was served in a 'bowl'? I forget the name of it but it was a taco shell in the shape of bowl you could eat. Maybe that's what she had it confused with.

In defense for Elisa, I thought Joe was talking about a new edible paleo-bowl, including the bowl. And said to myself "..that is so stupid' Elisa Raffa you are not in the "Twilight Zone"
