The power of acting is about believing the story you see on the screen. Every dialogue, every actor´s smile or frown. Her scientology membership kinda decreses the viewer´s experience. It brings a lot of prejudice especially when it comes to the show that is trying to shed a light on these religious cults. I cant really believe her anymore on the screen.

How the hell is not relevant when there are so many parallels between the show´s story and scientology cult ? Its funny how she dodged any scientology question on her promo tour for the show which is about the resistance against the made-up religious bs orders. After finding out she is a scientologist, I cant watch the show anymore since it became unrelatable for me.

Just because she doesn't support her religion doesn't mean she can't support her as an actress. Like wtf? Chelsea has ALWAYS had people on her show that she hasn't 100% agreed with, that's what makes her great. She can have a civil conversation (and enjoy herself) with a person she has differences with. That's called being an adult.

This isn't a simple matter of petty differences. Elizabeth is part of a totalitarian organization (falsely called a religion) that frequently abuses it's own members in numerous and horrific ways, harasses ex members and critics by stalking and intimidating them, and have even been involved in the mysterious deaths of several people. (Look up youtube videos about what happened to a woman named Lisa McPherson) It's especially important because not only has Chelsea spoken out about how terrible and disgusting Scientology is and what it does to people so she should be able to stick to her guns when talking with someone who is part of it, Elizabeth stars in a show about a cult that abuses and subjugates people. How are people supposed to take the message the show tries to convey seriously when it stars someone who is part of an organization that does just that? Scientology is not something to be passive about. It's hurting people and has been doing so for decades. There is plenty of evidence for it out there, all you have to do is take a look.

It takes time. Eventually she will. It may take 10 seasons. And even then, she won't be able to leave if she can't bear being permanently separated from her parents. As long as she's not trying to convert other people into Scientologists, I have no beef with her.

In terms of the irony of her being a scientologist, my guess is: there are so many strings attached that she couldn't just quit scientology in real life (being permanently separately from parents, etc). So producing and staring in this show is her rebellion (she is actually one of the producers). Maybe Moss IS June in real life, who wants to leave the organization but has to stay, who wants to tell the truth to the public but can not. June had to act cooperatively with Gilead in front of foreign ambassadors and national TV for suvival and she stayed in Gilead for her daughter. Maybe Moss has to stay being a scientologist for her family or for other reasons as well. I mean it's a wild guess, but I honestly can't think of another reason why she would want to work on the show given that she's a scientologist

I am suprised that Chelsea wanted to invite her. Let's not forget that Moss recently played in "Top of the Lake" with Nicole Kidman, who is obviously the enemy of scientology. In Cannes they seemed very friendly to each other. so maybe Elisabeth Moss left the scientology church?

Woah, her and Nicole K? I didn't see that. Must've been interesting on set. That would be awesome if she left that "church". She is INCREDIBLE in this new Hulu show, guys. Truly amazing in this role. Outside of her excellent acting skills, I wanna be a bigger fan. I'm becoming one. I can't be down w/that "religion" tho. It's demented what they do to folks outside the "celebrity center". James Fitzgerald i don't have much time to do research on internet. I hope you know that all scientology organizations in America are tax - exempt. The IRS decides which organizations deserves to be tax - exempt. They have to prove that scientology orgs are non - profit, so all financial records were given to IRS in the 1990's. The IRS decided that no one person was getting all of the money. The money did not go to only a few people, but went right back into the organization. In cults, only one person or a few people at the top benefits. The IRS did not find this in scientology organizations. There are a few definitions for word, religion, in English. Because, sooner or later, scientologists understand for themselves that people are immortal spirits, it is considered a religion, sort of like Buddhism. Not interested in proving anything, you will have to find your own answers.

According to scientologists they heal themselves and make themselves younger, so right there that logic proves anyone who is in Scientology including Hubbard are frauds. Honestly I've fallen in love with this show. She is lovely, and acts so good in the situations that her character goes through. For some reason this show resonates a lot with me. This thing about being opressed in many ways, by your economy, your goverment, or society. It's lovely. Her acting doesn't look forced. It's just natural. And her character becomes so depressed, she does a good job bringing that to the screen.

I'm surprised Elisabeth was allowed by Scientology to go on to a show who's host has criticized her religion up and down lately. Scientology labels all critics Suppressive Persons (SP's) and Chelsea could and would be labeled an SP, especially due to her being friends with Leah Remini who is currently trying to "take down" Scientology. I am actually surprised Chelsea practiced restraint and didn't put her on the spot with at least one Scientology question. Normally she is such a brash person and vomits uncomfortable questions.

LC T scientology does not label all critics "suppressive people". That is false. You MUST HAVE 12 SIGNS TO BE SUPPRESSIVE. IF YOU HAVE ALL 12, then you are a suppressive person. Being critical is not enough. LEah Remini admitted to a producer that she is being paid a lot of money to attack scientology. It is rare to kick someone out of the organization. She must have had all 12 signs.

James Fitzgerald my understanding is that she had all 12 signs of a psychopath, someone who does not understand right and wrong. They seem normal and can be friendly and charming, but it is an act, and they have no conscience. Because of this, she was kicked out. She then started the t.v. show and told one of the producers that she was getting paid to attack scientology. I saw a short video and the producer himself said this. Also, when someone goes on her t.v. show, none of the lawyers on her show will verify if the person is speaking the truth or not, and Leah said it was because the lawyers all work for her. She was at a round table with other actors and actresses when she said this.

The fake news stories about scientology on RU-vid and television are there to get your attention, make people thousands of dollars, and to destroy scientology reputation. Some people are paid $ to lie. If people understood what scientology could do for the world, some greedy people would lose a lot of money. Pharmaceutical companies would lose a lot of money too. Most scientologists understand that intelligence has nothing to do with gender. Men and women are equals, except for their physical bodies. Most of the leaders of scientology organizations all over the world are women. The most highly trained scientologist at my organization is a woman.

James Fitzgerald she decided not to talk about scientology. It is a waste of time. Some people will twist your words, will think you are lieing, that you can't think for yourself. Many people already made up their minds about scientology so what is the point of answering questions. They do not want the truth, they just want to use something you said to attack you. If you want to know about scientology go take a free on - line course or get the book "what is Scientology?".

Read the book. Written in 1987. Atwood wrote about the rise of Gilead, “ at first we blamed it on the muslims.” Chilling considering the attitudes of many people today.🥺😷🇨🇦🇺🇸

NO Chelsea!!! Her show is not the scariest thing on T.V. right now. The scariest show on television right now is Leah Remini's: Scientology and the Aftermath!!! And that thing on your show is one of those hideous people who believe in Xenu, alien Thetans. She's one of those sick cookies!! Ask her about it Chelsea. Why do people care so much about her religious beliefs? She is allowed to believe whatever she wants and just because her beliefs go against yours does not mean we can bash her aboit it. She is a brilliant actress and is very good in her work and deserves all the recognition for it. I couldn't care less about her religious beliefs.

A lot of very smart people are in Scientology. Elizabeth could be in a very high state of denial and choosing to keep the blinders on or she is very aware of the criminology, but wants to keep the personal benefits without guilt or pressure taking over. We don't actually know how she feels about her own personal beliefs bc she won't publicly share, however she may publicly share how she feels about the cult in which she performs in character. I'm sure she's seen parallels without others pointing them out. Good luck Liz! You may be torn and maybe you're waiting for the optimal time to leave scientology. Personally, it would be kinda cool to see you denounce it right there on Chelsea show!

This amazing womans job is an actor, and she is damn god at her job! She is a person of power. And there is the value that not using your power to prevent bad shit ... is bad shit all in itself. And the gist seems to be: Scientology does really bad stuff to people. There is no disrespect in calling out power. It's more like a moral duty. I respect the actress. And say: that she's a respectable actress cannot be the point as long as human trafficing and basically slave labor happens in her backyard; which is a "religion" that gained its label (as a religion) by harassing, terrorizing, scaring the shit out of thousands of IRS employees for years (a.k.a. blackmail).

It's honestly pretty funny reading these comments as an atheist. Because I feel the same way every time any public figure talks about their Christanity or Catholicism. To me, all these groups are just as insane as the other. A cult is any religion that isn't yours. Elizabeth is an amazing actress and deserves full respect regardless of what she believes.
