It's way harder to play music with other than loop on yourself. and loop tools help more than they increase difculty.

@@s1pierro Not really true. It's harder to play with new people, but once you've played together for any decent period of time, it's much easier than trying to loop everything together yourself and build it up LIVE

The fact that there's a single bar of each instrument that repeats over and over like 200 times without any change is a pretty good clue that it's a loop, lol

Usually looping-musicians are showing off skills and tricks - but the magic here is that the song is incredible. It's not just a bunch of solos trying to impress people - it's an actual song and a damn good one. I'm jealous of all these skills!

totally! ive always found looping pretty boring until i seen Elise and a couple of similar artists. I started looping after seeing them and basically always aim to create a song that doesn't sound like it's looped...

It is a visually stunning performance, too. In the parts of this video where she is focused on the vocals, she is looking into the camera so intensely that you can feel her reach through the screen and grab hold of your very soul as she is pouring her heart out for you with her lyrics. She absolutely nails it.

As a musician who used to play with loop pedals a lot - this takes skill and she nails it! If you’re out of time or make a mistake anywhere you have to stop the loops & start again.

I agree with you. I made the same type of comment on another video of her's, and of course there were people who were downplaying her by saying it takes no talent, anyone can use loops, etc. But I guess haters gon hate, regardless. I think Elise is a fantastic musician, she's absolutely beautiful and she creates awesome, catchy original music by combining her talent with the latest technology. She might just be my favorite artist right now.

She is absolutely incredible. She has spent a lot of time mastering this craft, and it really shows. If someone were to just build and build on a loop, it doesn't sound as good as the dynamic looping she does. So many of her songs have her recording a few different loops (live) and she will turn on/off the loops at will to get the texture and dynamics that she wants. This one here is still very incredible, but she has some really powerful songs out there that really show off what she's capable of. At the end of the day, it's music...good music. The methodology behind it almost doesn't matter. But as a musician watching this...it just adds another level to the music that makes me appreciate it so much more.

@@jc3drums916 Not quantized, it's not *that* perfect. I asked her back in the day, and she said she was using a click/guide track with cues, which is very impressive. Makes sense though, she's a drummer first, before anything else, so, her sense of time is real good and everything stays locked in because of that.

What a blast. I've listened to it a hundred times last year and I can listen to it a hundred times more. I hope to hear more from Elise in 2024. I know she has some more in store. '23 has been a bit too quiet. I can even hear an Elise inspiration in my latest work. It's meta. Something about approach.

she uses triggers in ableton to start and stop loop recordings. she’s a very talented musician.

usually looks like she hits a C note on the piano, and that starts a loop recording for 8 bars. then she moves to the bass where and F triggers the start… etc

@@scuevas1 im not 100% certain but i don't think there is any triggering, but rather all preset loops. I use a similar method in ableton arrangement view. can be done in session view too but its a bit more complex (imo) to set up

@@deathmilkshakemusic Yeah, you're right. The timing is all pre-programmed in Ableton. It still takes a lot of talent to get everything timed perfectly with the program during performance. I wonder how many takes this video took to get perfect. Maybe not too many since she does a great job live.

Following and supporting her for around 6-7 years now...?! Don't even remember, she is an unique part of my life for a very long while now yet never gets old and always feels fresh. I have been playing music live for years and this is the kind of stuff that sounds great live or studio produced. With Elise, you can't tell the difference--it sounds the same either way. She is that good! So enormously talented. So pretty too, but I am glad she prioritized keeping the focus on her music and not just marketing her looks. This song is a perfect example of what she can do.
