Thank you so much for this! I am one of those people who keeps punching the wall until it breaks, but I realized that doesn’t work for learning fighting games 😅. I am a beginner but having a lot of trouble learning Tekken 8 and looking for effective strategies to learn.
There are middle-aged people who have been driving daily since they were 16, and they still can't reverse or parallel park. You need to actively seek improvement in an efficient way.
Been playing competitively for awhile! These videos always feel like pep talks from a coach! It's refreshing and reinforces what I know and to double down in working smarter and to not get caught up in just trying to win all the time. Love videos like these!
@@TrickyEileen 🫡will do! I mostly play Smash Bros and now transition entirely to Rivals 2! The concepts that you lay down are universal. Can't wait for the next video 🔥
The cpu will let you know the holes in your string that a real person will just let you finish your string up until you reach a mad man that knows the holes
My computer keyboarding teacher in middle school always said "Perfect practice makes perfect." And it's very true regarding Tekken as well. It's not just about putting the time in, it's making sure you're practicing correctly and not developing bad habits. Recognizing you have bad habits can be tough starting out, but you'll figure it out.
To your question, Professor, I’ve found it helpful to watch high level players and focus on (replay) one or two sequences/decisions that I understand and need to incorporate, then lab it, then take it to rank to perform it live. The thing I really struggle with, which you and JWong have advocated for, is to be okay with losses in ranked when I’m specifically trying to develop this new weapon in my arsenal - understanding that I’m training to improve a specific skill and not to get a w.
I love the advice to only make one change at a time. It's extremely effective at problem solving. Making multiple changes at once may make it hard to identify the effectiveness of any variable.
Hey Eileen! I don't play the same games as you, I'm mostly a Strive player (I know, trans girl that plays Strive, *crazy*), but this content that you make speaks so strongly and resonates so deeply with me, I really appreciate you for it. People who teach me stuff are great, but someone who helps me become better at thinking and teaching myself is worth their weight in gold to me, so thank you 🙏you're really making content that makes a difference. As an aside, I didn't know you were trans until the video you made about it recently, and I just want to say it's crazy how good your voice is, I aspire to voice train to reach the kind of level that you have, it sounds so effortless and lovely and natural. If you *happen* to have any tips for how you went about achieving that I'd love to hear it, but regardless of that thanks for the content you make 💜
Hey, this is my first time intentionally trying to learn Tekken/any fighting game really and I chose to fight the computer opponents in arcade mode/fight ghosts to learn buttons specially because I wanted to avoid issues in online ranked like occasional bad connections, BM, and fighting players who beat me that I feel like I don't get to play the game. That kinda environment can be a bit frustrating when I'm trying to learn buttons/moves for the first time nah. I also feel like not waiting in que for matches helps you play more games faster, but then I guess the counter argument for that is you still get to press buttons in que.🤔
Fighting ghosts in Tekken 8 is a really good way to get comfortable with piloting your character and how the game feels overall. Good luck and have fun!
@@TrickyEileen I just checked it out and etudes was a new concept for me to learn, but I felt like I understood your point. I'll be incorporating some of that into my que times for sure.
I play couple of rank and player matches and using the replay it does help I was able to beat some of the blue ranks players for real😂 but yeh I'm improving and have to keep improving. With Xiaoyu
