ELITE THEORY : HAVE WE AWOKEN THE GUARDIAN AI? 

The lack of guardians is a sad thing because their stuff is way cooler than the Thargoids. I wish guardian stuff sold for more too. Oh well.

The "Pilots Federation" we work for is controlled by the guardian ai.

First off, welcome back! Glad to see you making Elite videos again. A few theories I have; the Guardian ruins aren't Guardian per se; they're Construct. Notice how they only appear on lifeless worlds that aren't large enough to hold an atmosphere. No one lived or worked at the ruins or even on the planet for that matter. They're giant computers purposely placed on bodies where they would be, by in large, protected from the passage of time, i.e. erosion. Due to the proximity of Guardian space to Sol the Construct would have quickly found humanity's ancestors; 1 million old years ago we would have been a fledgling cave dwelling simian race that they would recognize as the precursor to intelligent life. The Construct, already at odds with the Thargoids due to its Guardian origins needed witchspace to become intergalactic but like our ships, machines have trouble truly navigating witchspace. Unlike the Thargoids, our ships (machines) can only traverse witchspace for a brief time from point A to point B. Since the Thargoids have been truly navigating witchspace for untold eons they are quite adept at defending witchspace even from a hyper-intelligent machine consciousness. That's where humanity and project Seraph (as well as other technologies) come in. The Construct has, from the shadows been protecting humanity and feeding us technology to combat the Thargoids so it can take witchspace and finally leave the galaxy. I think the ancient Mars artifact was left by the Construct to guide us, once we became space faring, to "Guardian" space where we would find the ruins. The ruins that sure seem to hand us a lot of weapons specifically for combating the Thargoids. Why would the Guardians leave the blueprints for a bunch of weaponry for a species they likely didn't know existed? And even if they did we would have been no more advanced than the Mudlarks we eradicated. The Construct would also know, from its own experience with the Guardians, that humanity would be leery of cooperating with a machine intelligence so it tends to be ambiguous with that fact; letting us believe we're uncovering technology from the Guardians. I also think Salvation, for the time being is merely being tolerated by the Construct as he was the one feeding us a lot of their technology but if he lets his ego take over too much the Construct may delete him. Finally... where is Jaques? Why, unlike the engineers, is Jaques absent from his station? Is where he ended up an accident? Being a machine himself, did he run into the Construct on his journey? What's in the permit locked sectors Hyponia and Froadik? Could the Construct be in those sectors? Maybe Jaques is out seeking the machines? Maybe compelled because he is a machine; either willingly or unwillingly? Or is it just an FDev oversight that he's absent?

The premise of humanity's war with the Thargoids going poorly hasn't really stood up to the past few weeks of even some Spire sites being conquered and shut down by human forces. But there could always be a new development or change since the Spires could be hiding something, and that point aside your theory is intriguing. Especially the part with new behaviors as seen in the Sentinels, that is still an elusive mystery. I really hope there's some Guardian AI out there. A friend and I took a vacation from running medevac in the war to scour the Wregoe, Col 132, Col 173, and Puppis Dark Region B sectors for further new ruins after CMDR Marina Oatmeal's discovery in Wregoe BU-Y b2-0 system. But all we found were parsecs of brain trees. Instead of finding some jewel of new Guardian technology or a Construct itself, we had wandered into a Guardian corn field. There's something still out there waiting, I can feel it in my bones, but nobody has found it.

I still maintain that the Guardians and the Thargoids could be the same species. Reading the history of the guardians, some embraced tech and others rejected it. They are (Were) a highly advanced civilization and so those that decided against tech found ways to form bio connections to ships and space faring. Whereas the faction that embraced tech met their demise at the hands of their creation, the AI construct. This in my opinion is the reason why the Thargs so vehemently dispise anything Guardian. They know the end result. We may in the end be joining with the Thargs in the battle for biology to continue in the cosmos vs. everything being simulated in a construct. This is one of the last things I hold on to playing the game. I hope to see the final outcome before it all goes belly up. (I think the Odyssey focus on 1st person shooter play was poorly executed. Even though it may have been getting us prepared for personal battles with Tharg soldiers or possibly even Guardians).

I hope that frontier developments recognizes the massive potential here and also brings the guardians into play. Elite dangerous has so much massive potential when it comes to the story or the gameplay with the tag talk and the guardians.

I have to admit... Being stuck between the Guardians and the Thargoids - being forced to pick a side - could be incredibly cool!

Thanks for this, currently in a system far out with ancient ruins. Maybe I'll stay here for a while now.

I had this theory for a while about the guardian constructs being conscious within the monolith network, similar to the domain from halo lore, and given physical forms by their makers. When they destroyed their creators, they were disconnected from their physical forms and trapped within the monolith network for a millennia. Perhaps when Jasmina Halsey was contacted by those “angelic beings” it was the the guardian Ai reaching out to her unconscious mind from the network to lead humanity to the beacons so that we can activate the physical connections to the network. I wanted to explore the implications of a rampant Ai trapped with no physical form and in complete solitude. - edited my spelling error

I'm down for the Guardians returning to fight the goids and humans. It'd be an interesting change.

In these times im reminded of the dynasty sites. It feels like the humans will loose the bubble, and the 3 major factions will separate and go to these premade sites. Maybe if it all gets so bad the pilots federation will be a thing of the past, and their permit locks with them...

I have spent a lot of time exploring the Guardian sites. As far as I know, I have explored 100% of the main Guardian space. I have approximately 50% discovered outside of said space. I have also spend quite sometime exploring Thargoid sites, as well as AX Combat. I have also studied the origins of our current FSD, which is a Human/Thargoid hybrid. (Kinda reminiscent of BattleStar Galactica, with the Humans and the Cylons! LOL) And I have to wonder of the similarities between the tow. I mean, they both look like "crashed ships", so to speak. So what if The Proteus Wave woke up the Guardians, as well as the Thargoids? Excellent work as always, Sir! Have a great day! And God Bless. o7

Sometimes I wonder if the Dynasty sites will ever be brought up in the story again. I wonder if the Guardian sites changing will eventually lead to some kind of neo-Guardian species that fights humans as well as Thargoids. I doubt it, but it would be a cool thing to see.

What kind of guardian different behavior are we talking about exactly?

I cant say for sure but i swear i hear the old mans voice at every guardian ruin site now. Maybe that stuff about Caleb being a brain in a jar is true

I am not convinced that all guardians are dead. It is virtually impossible to wipe out a Type later type 1 or early 2 civilization.

"kill them all" isnt that exactly what the guardian sentinel's did .. the strange signal that decimated the magaship and now a whole squadron of pilots apparently... a strange signal from a passing planet .... could well be guardian Sentinel

Do you think the spires are related to the signal and the returned thargoid abductees?

Some fresh content other than Thargoids would be welcomed, in fact it would be very welcomed from me. Maybe we can't find more Guardian artifacts and relics as we can't land on the planets that these items are on. We need some fresh content and I mean more than Thargoid content, new lanadable plaents to explore otherwise the game that we all enjoy will become stale and dull. Elite is anything but that, it just needs the right people on it.
