Without even smallest doubt, Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankulov are the greatest percussionist act in history of Eurovision. And I seriously doubt there will ever be better act of such kind.
Lmaooo Thracia was not greek land but another autochthonous region with illyrians and greeks. Its true that bulgarians have kicked out the real thracians from the land called Bulgaria today. About gajde it is not 100% greek because albanians( the descendents of illyrians use it. ( If you look carefully the Southern Albania which use fustanella and polyfonia ) Greets :D
I really enjoy the part from 1:33 to 2:13 This is the traditional bulgarian folklore which many european countries do not understand. Most people think that Elitsa's singing out of the tune - no, she is not! Most people think that she missed a part from her singing in the end - no, she is not! To all haters, try to sing like a professional beating that heavy drums, running all over the stage and singing traditional bulgarian folklore ( which is very popular in the USA ).
i agree because i am 25% bulgarian and moreover my greek village is made of 80% bulgarians so i have already heard that kind of music. thats why when i first heard it i remembered my tradititonal village music xoxoxoxox samo shampioni
The most underrates country in ESC. Bulgaria has sent so many good songs to this competition, and they just dont qualified them to the finals. The most songs of Bulgaria, should have been in the finals, as well as in The Top 10.
@@mousansour actually I love 2016 onwards too! 😊 It's just that I miss the less commercial and pop-y Bulgaria days, with their more eccentric (2008 & 2012 for instance) and folk & ethnic infused (2006, 2007 & 2013) entries 😥
During my schooldays, we were invited from Germany for student exchange to Bulgaria for some time. I liked it very much there, we got along quite well because many Bulgarians spoke German. I had tried to learn Bulgarian, which was very difficult for me because I could not even learn writing within the short preparation time. The exchange was successful, we learned a lot. Bulgaria is beautiful. I still think back to the warm and great people there. Greetings from Germany to Bulgaria❤️ Забавлявайте се и се радвайте на успех! (Не мога да направя това вече ..)
This performance is full with Bulgarian symbols - her outfit looks like the Presidential guards' uniform and the drums are in pagan shapes. The folklor choir is wearing traditional clothing (called "nosii") from different parts of Bulgaria. "The bagpipe guy" is playing a bagpipe caled "kaba gaida" which is typical for the south part of Bulgaria (mostly the Rhodopes region). Stoyan is wearing a belt that is typical for the Bulgarian revolutioneers who fought for the freedom of the country. In this version the lyrics have been changed at 01:12 where she sings "samo shampionki" in order to include women being champions too. Later between 01:36 - 02:13 we see some traditional Bulgarian choir harmonizations mixed with the typical singing from the Sofia region called "tresene" while the melody changes into dubstep to add a modern flavor of the song. After that from 02:15 till the end of the song we see a drum break which is done first on the traditional Bulgarian drum called "tapan" and later the W shaped drum which was designed by Elitsa herself you can hear the choir only while Elitsa is dancing the traditional Bulgarian dance "rachenitsa" and "the bagpipe guy" from the beginning is now wearing a traditional mask of the kukeri dancers which is used for purification of the air. Basically that's what I saw on first glance. It's a clever performance full with thought and symbolism which unfortunately was tanked by the juries :(
Bulgaria is an amazing Eurovision country :) . They sent good songs from 2007-2009 and from 2011-2013 :) They all deserved to qualify, some of them even a top 10 placing ;) . I hope they can take part in the ESC 2015 :) . Goodluck from Germany!
@@mariomm9080 This was my favorite, I love the Bulgarian language, and the way Elitsa sings the song is very familiar to Greek traditional songs. Very Balkanic music and singing!!! Awesome. but maybe unfamiliar for listeners from other traditions. Peace!
I don't know if many people realize the fact that when bulgaria participates in Eurovision they're songs are a banger!Honestly this country is not only robbed, but also unnoticed by some people, which is very sad 😢 😞
I truly love this duo, very powerful songs in both years different from the other entries, that's why people can't understand the beauty of their songs, also the traditional colour makes them even more interesting and unique , big love to our neighbors from Greece
@@DJFalcoOfficial tbh our song in 2020 wasn't that good, and as I remember, they gave us 2nd place just because Kristian Kostov (the person who was participating and introducing us)'s mother is a very well-known person in Russia. If this is actually true, I'm honestly so ashamed to be here. Knowing that this is not the actual place we deserved, I'm feeling terrible about it. I'd be happy only if we ever win first place fairly and not because one of the participant's relatives is a well-known person in another country.
The song wasn't as good as the one they sang in 2007 ("Water" which was amazing), but the performance of Elitsa gave me the chills! I totally love her! Too bad they didn't make it, it didn't deserve disqualification!!! Love from Greece.
@@robertchippett5531 i know..it's such a shame. But time and time again i've realizes that Eurovision is NOT the place where the best song wins, but it's where the most extravagant song wins. Which should not be like this at all.
Adnan Januzaj Because this song was only NOISE. Their song "Water" was much better and one the best songs in ESC 2007. "Kismet" was much better as well.
You guys should check out Elitsa’s new song that she came out with last year! It’s really good! As a non Bulgarian, you guys really need to send Elitsa back to Eurovision💖💖
This song is clever, she is very talented, the percussion is awesome and the performance was tight considering how active they were. Very traditional song, unique chords and singing... not just another Ballad that has been done over and over again. Not just factory music.
This is better. It makes you think that if Juries were around in 2007 then they may not have even qualified then either. That is where the juries have too much power. They are the difference between coming 5th overall and not even qualifying.
