She's singing a Divinyls song. She is the lead singer of the band Killing Heidi that you did a reaction to which you weren't a massive fan of haha.

A much older and more mature Ella Hooper compared to her in Weir - where you thought her voice wasn’t strong enough. Here she is singing a Divinyl’s song and is very much singing in the style of the lead singer of the Divinyl’s Chrissy Amphlett. Chrissy passed away 9 years ago from breast cancer (with complications from MS). She was extremely well loved in Australia. They did break into the US market with a top 10 with “I touch myself”. Definitely worth checking them out.

RockWiz was a music quiz show that had musical guests singing covers each week. Vika and Linda often appeared as backing vocals for the guests. In fact that is where a lot of people probably encountered them first.

I love Ella. Here she is doing a straight copy of Chrissie Amphlett's song with the Divinyls. Chrissie was a one off indeed and this is a nice tribute.

The Bull sisters were working on the show Rockwiz, they were part of the house band for each episode. So they would back up whoever was singing on the show that week.

RockWiz is/was a musical game show which had a musical celebrity guest on each of two teams. At the end of the show the two quests usually collaborated on a cover to close the show. That is what this performance is… Its a pretty good cover of a Divinyls song.

Ella was staying true to the original as a tribute should be and not trying to make it her own. Ella is not a power singer, however, has unique rock voice that suited this song. (Yes, you pronounced my name right 😊)

Yes, I remember when you did the Killing Heidi song, you said she was ok, but not a singer. So glad you you gave this a listen to. First impressions are not always spot on, but shows you have an open mind. Oh, and Rockwiz, Count Down and Spicks and Specks are all music shows....

V & L started out doing a lot of backing. Bit of a right of passage in Australian music, tons of top tier singers did a lot of backing jobs. James Reyne (Australian Crawl) did a song called Hammer Head and Olivia Newton John did backing vocals, years after Grease and a huge solo career. Aussie performers don't seem to be so precious about being the star as much as supporting each other and getting great music out there.

The band formed in 1996 (when Ella was 13) and also featured her older brother Jesse Hooper. Killing Heidi broke up in 2006. Ella has always been amazing, ever since she burst onto the scene with Killing Heidi. I recommend watching some episodes of Rockwiz if you can find them, there was so much talent and humour on that show, never a dull moment.

Ella has amazed me for almost 30 years. 'Kettle' way back from Triple J unearthed in 96 was just some unbelievable vocals for someone so young and like fine Wine Ella has only gotten better with age. On this song here I can't think of too many vocalists who could channel the late great Chrissy Amphlett as well.

I love Ella Hooper! She's my favourite singer. I love her voice, especially since she's grown as an artist and done a lot of different genre's. She's overcome health issues with her throat at an early age that could've damaged her voice and adapted

my dude..... Ella Hooper hit the stage in her teens with her band Killing Heidi. She's been a known talent in Australia for decades. RockWiz is an Australian music trivia show. The RockWiz Orchestra is made up of Australian Rock Royalty. Every one of those musicians is amongst the best Australia has to offer. Vicka and Linda Bull are also Australian Rock Royalty in their own right as well as providing backing vocals to some of Australia's greatest musical releases. Glad you liked it.

Vika & Linda are indeed stars within their own rights but in the established music industry its not unusual for artists to swap roles with other artists to support each other. Maybe that's one reason our live music scene is so vibrant, It's more of a community.

Ella and Jesse Hooper are virtually locals to me, having lived on a farm just down the road from here (Marraweeny) before moving down the hill from here in Violet Town with their mother who just recently passed. Their old man who still lived on the farm at Marraweeny passed a few weeks before their mother.

This is interesting. You’ve reacted to her before with her band Killing Heidi and you seemed luke warm on her voice in that reaction. The Killing Heidi song was an official video rather than a live track like this, so that may have something to do with it, also she’s have matured as an artist between these two performances, so as I say, interesting. Linda and Vicka are (amazingly) mostly used as backing singers in Australia despite their undisputed talent. They pop up all over the place in the background.
