Benjamin Aguilar there are children on the internet, please try to calm down. There’s no point in blatantly insulting random people on the internet. It won’t do any good. You could seriously upset people, and children.
Everyone in Hollywood loooooves gay people. They would not do that. Conservatives, on the other hand, like Roseann Bar and Tim Allen...they will happily pull the plug.
Headas Snigga yea but I really feel like a good portion of them are denying their past. For example my best friend constantly thirsts over Priyanka chopa and complains about how, she’s too pretty for Nick Jonas. More so, she tries to deny her past lesbian relationships as something of the past. I mean she is totally into men as well but she continues in denying her bisexual past. More so, when she suggested that, we’d go out to a strip club, she clarified that she would only go to a female strip club.
Haha, I didn't realize "lebanese" refers to lesbians until I started reading the comments, LOL :D I was like, "there's not a single word about Ellen coming out here!!!" Anyone else out there that just didn't get it?
She had a 1million dollar surgery to make her look like i think it said like 10 or 20 years younger thats why shes 61 and looks like shes only 40 or 30
@Alqu001 ! Back in the day when I was working a fax machine was a faster way of commumicating in businesses who didnt want to deal with the company by phone. I hoped this helped in clearing things up!
@BNO97 ! it's like a scanner. That sends what you can to another fax machine that is then printed out by the people you sent it to. They had phone numbers that you would dial in.
SteLenaFoster, lol I know. I used to watch Rosie's show every day after school with my friend haha. I just laugh at old technology references like this.
Cartoon vocalist typically make all the facial expressions they naturally would make if it were real and Disney/Pixar's animators are known to make the character emulator more like the actual vocalist sometimes. There's another movie that I can't think of off the top of my head, but they specifically made the characters look very similar to the voice actors.
Jade The Messenger my point was that she was using examples of things that aren't used as much as they used to be, insinuating it's been that long since Ellen wasn't a household name and people actually cared about Rosie O'Donnell. Don't care if you think it's funny. It's clever and no doubt more clever than anything you might convey.
Because they hate each other now. Had a HUGE falling out and now they cannot stand each other!! I think it was over parenting or food... can’t remember but it totally happened.
That was so fun to see after all these years! Little did she know that she would have such a rough road ahead of her before she found such success again.
Janaka you know what blows my mind? When a person lives like 14 lifetimes in 1...first you own a small store, then you get discovered and you model, next thing you know you can sing...who knew....then suddenly you're selling the number 1 sock in the world!!! I cant even win 1 dollar on a scratch off...im pretty sure this is what rod Stewart meant....some guys have all the luck...
I'm not Lebanese but I respect all foreigners. Good for you Ellen. I'm sure it must have been hard for your character to drop the act that you were an American. Sincerely, a man that doesn't drink 24/7 but pretty damn near it.
@@ktkee7161 i remember watching a 90s thingy and the singer Melissa Etheridge came out in like 93, Friends had lesbians and the wedding in 96 and Ellen came out in 97. Besides the political feminist fighting for gay rights and lesbian novels there was nothing else publicity out there and that's why it was such a big deal ❤
I remember when this episode aired. My Mom and I watched Rosie a lot. I was a little girl and I asked my mom what she meant by lebanese and she said "It means that they are from Lebanon". Silly mom!
Guys! DUH! She just wasn’t ready for me to understand what lesbian meant when I was like 7, so she made a joke and I didn’t know it was a joke. That was roughly 20+ years ago and now I’m a mom. So now I get her joke.
Both of these women are hilarious and amazing. And the back and forth with them right now about the Lebanese and the baba ganoush is so witty and hilarious. And I can't believe this was before either of them had come out.
An introverted comic ! Smart , generous , passionate , and funny , So glad she hung in there after being cancelled really for who she was because her ratings were high , now she is set financially for ten lifetimes . She uses her current talk show yes for humor but not humor at the expense of any one . She uses it for a platform of love and tolerance . A mighty fine human being in my book .
Not introverted. She called it quits on the show. And never makes jokes at people's expense? Tell that to the girl she publicly shamed on her show for taking free merch
How could Ellen have done this and then some years later go on Larry King and say she doesn’t know Rosie and that they are not friends. Something’s just not right with the person she has become 😢
Without having seen the King episode, maybe the context of this statement is misleading. Just because you go on someone's talk show for a major moment in your life does not mean you're hanging out and having beers every weekend. And it depends on how one defines friendship. These people are in a business, they are friendly and polite. But they are doing business with each other. That's what it means to be a guest on a show. It doesn't mean you're friends or that you know each other well. Look at Laurel and Hardy. They were not exactly brothers. Audiences read way too much into friendly banter.
She's always been one of the bravest women out there. The haters on this comment thread are just that, miserable haters. Ellen is nothing short of a hero, hysterical, and awesome.
Arabella S, go to your local bar and see how many married straight people are sleeping around before you look down on lesbians. Or I could put you in touch with a straight, married (at the time), youth pastor whom fondled a 15-year-old in front of me while his young, pregnant wife was one room away.
And even though everyone knew Rosie was gay, it would take her another 5 years to come out herself!!! #whataworld These jokes were amazing though, she all but outed herself!
Did she not come out until 2001? When did her show end? I used to watch it every day with my friend, good memories. I remember being shocked when she came out (I was young and naive, okay?! lol)
I still don't fully understand, but well what you said makes sense. She didn't say I am gay y'all. . but basically did with homosexual humour and mannerisms.
I witness this in real time. I was so excited. I watched Ellen Show from the start of "These Friends of Mine"....this was everything to me inside.....I wasn't ready to admit to myself or family just yet, but representation is everything! I love seeing not only Ellen and Rosie out and living with careers, but Wanda Sykes is so so important to me. As a black gay woman coming out later in life.....to see her thrive and be free; is so very freeing to me. Let ppl live!
I am a celibate heterosexual. 2 marriages w/divorces, 10 yrs. apart, and 1near mistake. Retired from anything physical since 1986. Anyway, I think Ellen is one of the greatest people to ever grace the Earth. I have adored her, like I would a family member, since she first hit television. She has done so much for people/the world, yet she has never acted prideful or uppity. Everyone, should be lucky enough to have a friend like Ellen. Thankyou for sharing this humorous, and friendly interview. PS. I also like Rosie and I am happy she had Ellen on her show.
I'm so fortunate I've never known a time it wasn't complete bedlam to come out as gay, but I can certainly admire the courage it must have took to become the face of a whole community overnight. It just seems ludicrous to me that this was such a focal point at one time and one of the most talked about and riveting moments of a decade. I just love Ellen for the person who she is ♡
I think Ellen is hilarious. She I sunny, smart, intelligent, and I would love to have her as a best friend. She seems to be an awesome person that would make an awesome friend. ! !!
cathy smith, you wrote a lot of stuff there, to which I say, you don't know God or Christ or any of those folks. I happen to know that Ellen is good people. Why not look for the good in people?
In my opinion god and all that lot of a load of to say it nicely rubbish. It’s scientifically proven that the Big Bang happened not a frigging magician making the Earth, it just sounds like a child’s tv program
infinitydreamzz this whole paragraph just told me “peoples clothes give my prejudice personality stupid clues to thinking I automatically know someone’s sexuality and since I think that it’s a fact”
This is cool to watch. How far she’s come..... she really paved the way for celebs to openly come out of the closet today and be proud and embrace it more. Back then it was a lot harder for gays to come out. Bless her heart. I love Ellen
I remember coming out to my parents just right after this interview. I was 12 years old and really brave. My father slapped my face so bad I can still remember the metallic taste of blood inside my cheek. He stopped myself being myself. I was then able to come out to my bestie only when I've turned 36. Nowadays I am living abroad and go home only for Christmas once in a year. I started living just when I've left my family behind. Families can be humble and some families can be corrosive. Unfortunately I ended up in the second category.
Thankyou for sharing this. You are loved and perfect just the way you are. Thankyou for being you even when it’s costly to your life. I’m sorry if life hasn’t been as kind to you as it should be because of your coming out but I just wanted you know that you’re amazing. I hope you never stop because you’re beautiful and amazing just the way you are🤍
