I think it comes from Elliot's realisation that WhiteRose only wanted to fuck up with the United States conglomerates and didn't really care if innocent people died during it. The rich are the ones who controll how the economy should be or are the ones that pay others to determine it, so it explains in a simple way how implanting austerity policies towards the people is the best way to mainting society the same way it was before the hack but in an even worse way for the ones who had the debts. So Elliot decides that undoing the hack is the best option to protect the people he was trying to save in the first place. He thinks that undoing the hack will destroy WhiteRose's plan to make things even worse by turning things back the way it was at the beginning. In conclusion, I think Elliot is making a hard choice, and probably his last choice, trying to ''save the world'' from the problems and deaths that he helped creating.

Compared to what they had before, it's a relative shitshow just like with everyone else. Extremely obvious.

This is the writer talking. It means each and every single one of us is to blame for the way the economy is growing and we need to stop blaming others. This monologue has little to do with the story line.

If the revolution is televised and turns a profit for the 1%, they bought and paid for it, they, sanctioned it. Simply a new paint job.

Fallout of violent revolution will not damage the system and the corporations as much as it will damage the everyday people. While the corporations will be bailed out, survive and turn profit by the end od the crisis, the everyday people will lose the little they had. They will lose money, they will lose property, they will lose prospects and they will get scared enough to be willing to sacrifice even more of their freedoms to the system just to feel safer. Then the politicians paid by corporations will consolidate their powers more than ever before and the revolution will just end up reinforcing the system it was designed to bring down. You will be able to watch similar process unfold now in the real world, though of course the cause is not 5/9 but Covid 19.
