-And what? You are? Is any of it real? I mean, look at this, look at it! A world built on fantasy! Synthetic emotions in the form of pills! Psychological warfare in the form of advertising! Mind altering chemicals in the form of food! Brainwashing seminars in the form of media! Controlled isolated bubbles in the form of social networks. Real? You wanna talk about reality? We haven't lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century. We turned it off, took out the batteries, snacked on a bag of GMOs while we tossed the remnants in the ever-expanding dumpster of the human condition. We live in branded houses, trademarked by corporations built on bipolar numbers jumping up and down on digital displays, hypnotizing us into the biggest slumber mankind has ever seen. You have to dig pretty deep, kiddo, before you can find anything real. We live in a kingdom of bullshit! A kingdom you've lived in for far too long. So, don't tell me about not being real! I'm no less real than the fucking beef patty in your Big Mac. As far as you are concerned, Elliot, I am very real. We are all together now, whether you like it or not.

Mr robot made this monologue, because he accidentally told Elliot that he isn't real. And then made up a story that the world they are living in isn't real either, to make Elliot forget about what he had said.

So don't tell me about not being real. As far as you're concerned I'm very real." Genius monologue, though very philosophical. Reminds me Plato and Descartes and in some ways even Zen. I mean, the question of "realness" excited us since European culture was born. Ancient Greeks didn't distinguish between reality and hallucination, but we did. The answer is, why we build terrible worlds like this, there is nothing real, and we even don't know what does it to be "real". Is it because we left something that ancient Greeks had, or on the contrary we lost it because we built a world, where everyone can escape from it's horrifying terribleness, by surfing, watching TV and using drugs? By gaining a power, that doesn't cost anything? (Like, for example, Tyrell did).

Or ask anybody else from that side of the globe where a bloddy piece of bread worth more than your iphone that you used to typing this "fact". I don't say this world is perfect, but there is a big difference complaining about human rights (or life or worlds choose what you like) by ordering a cup of coffe in a t-shirt that represents your views, or jumping up nakedto a running racehorse.

Actually I believe it all started way before than Ancient Greek or Kemet. I think we, as humanity started to bend the reality with agriculture, farming plants & animal stock-breeding. Till then the Earth planet only had wild life except us (as the only lucky and cursed genus Homo), our ancestors kept selectively breed/cross them according how they needed them, they had planted them seeds as when to need them, how could they took advantage of all at maximum efficiency. They found different ways to stock, preserve food and not have to starve to die on harsh and long drought times or winters. Population started to raise after the First Agricultural Revolution (circa 10,000 BC). Not long after we even started to find ways to use lots of different microorganisms to get yields of different products, like beer, wine, vinegar etc. That time human didn't even know what those organisms exactly are, yet we today still using most of them world wide with multiple massive scales. TLDR: I believe humanity got todays with a shitty mix of (mostly) survival instinct, greed & ego with the help of dictatorship of the majority. I would say one of the recent proof as a sample is Musk.

@@cipher3966 Most people on RU-vid discuss the video that they are specifically watching at that time. They don't expect to read more than what the video entails (hence: 'Spoiler alerts'). Not everyone is like you, and watches a show through and through, without reading or chatting about it online. Some people want human interaction to add to the show they are watching. Maybe they don't understand something, or they just want to talk about how cool a scene is. It's just best to not add spoilers on videos where it's not welcome. Or at least add a warning.

Doesn't make sense at all; It's a monologue. Cutting doesn't give "more immersion". Watch the Matt Damon's monologue in "Good Will Hunting" or the Hugo Weaving's one in the "Matrix revolution" : no cuts at all and they were maybe even longer than this one. It's just the director or the actor that couldn't handle the big long scene properly so, they decided it was easier that way. EDIT : And when I'm talking about cuts, I mean "time-cut" in which the actor have the time to re-do a small portion of the monologue without ruining the integrity of the others. I'm not talking about "space-cut" in which there is just a camera switch that just gives an other angle of view but the time is not stopped.

The cuts in the scene are intentional, it gives us a sense that mr robot is talking to elliot for a long time and what we experience is just a few of the many examples he can give elliot on why the world is shitty.

Christian Anuta It’s That way on purpose. It’s part monologue and part rushing thoughts. Mr Robot doesn’t need to take breaths or use connectives properly or anything. It’s happening inside Elliot’s head. Have you ever gotten really angry about something and had racing thoughts that you struggle to string together into a coherent idea? That, coupled with another personality present in your head, would result in something like this.

Seriously? He's one of the worst actors I've ever seen in such a big show. There's zero chemistry between Rami and him. His acting is just lack of energy and sloppy, almost ruined the show for me.
