For some reason it doesn’t work. I’ve reached out to Ellipal about the issue as it’s suppose to be permanent.. Hopefully will hear back this week and I can let you know
Bought the original wallet in July 2022 I took all of my coins, threw them all there and maybe use the thing 3 or 4 more times and put it away for about a year. I took it out last week. It won't charge… I contact support. They told me to charge it for 24 hours, which didn't help. Then they told me because I purchased it on that date. The warranty has expired and I must purchase another one and it is my fault. Because I didn't charge it for over a year. So if you forget to charge this, it will die and it will be a piece of trash. They told me I have to buy another one. And they have some good sales going on right now. I can easily swap everything over with my pneumonic coperiod.. I guess I will have to buy this 2.Give it another shot and not forget to charge it at least once a month. Even though I only plan to store it long-term. Pretty dumb
Dang. I’m sorry to hear that. My recommendation would be to get a different brand of wallet. The Trezor Safe 3 doesn’t even have a battery, so you don’t have to worry about it failing. Or if you’re looking for another airgapped solution than I recommend the Keystone 3 Pro. Then just import your seed phrase into the new wallet. I’ve reviewed both of these wallets on my Cold Wallet Review Playlist if you want to check them out: ru-vid.com/group/PLcf_x896LiWP5A_BkcIBEkpflQhThbJ7x&si=CD8LJSu_3QtWSB0a
This exact same type of thing happened to me. They sent me a $20 code for a new one. WTF. After getting gruff with them I bought a charging cradle and it's back again. Did you try that? I didn't charge it since it came out (was using as cold storage). It forgot all the keys so I have to refresh it. Hmmm
Same here switched to arculus but not open source and gave them out for free at bitcoin Miami then eventually switched to tangem. No seed phrase. Open source. No battery. . Just three cards. Don't lose all of them and you're good.
The same thing happened to me, but the device never worked from the start and never charged even though I had charged it for 24 hours. Ellipal said I had to pay the return shipping costs for the exchange, which I find cheeky. That's why I don't like Ellipal!
Thanks for the new review. As always straight to the point. Appreciate it. How does it compare to the Keystone Pro/Keystone 3 Pro? Which one do you prefer and why?
You’re welcome, thanks for watching. The 3 Pro will always be my vault for my crypto, it’s security is unmatched. But the Titan 2.0 is more user-friendly especially with the native Ellipal app.
Thanks for the update! Well done and to the point. Unfortunately, not too much of an upgrade for the price point IMO. I own a Titan Mini and still waiting for Ellipal to integrate the mini to metamask. There are better options out there. Will not get the 2.0.
Thanks for the answer. Appreciate it. For me the keystone pro is the best out of the bunch with the Keystone 3 Pro coming in at second place. I like that the KS3Pro has a longer battery life and can handle 3 seed phrases, but the KS Pro has a removeable battery pack (and can handle AAA batteries - plus it has a bitcoin only firmware. May I ask what (companion) app you use as your hot wallet with your KS Pro/KS 3 Pro? What can you recommend? And last question: how long will the current KS companion app supported for the use with KS Pro? -@@cyberscrilla
Are there any fee's with withdrawing your coins from the cold storage wallet? And can I attach my bank account to the wallet? Im curious how this part works!!
@AugustBoy36 The only fees you pay are transaction fees. These are fees paid to whichever blockchain your crypto is on. And no, you can’t connect a bank card to your cold wallet. But with some wallets there is the option to buy/sell crypto directly in the native app.
Great review! Just got one this past week and it says examination failed after attempting to update it. Am I missing something or is my device already updated? The device’s version is V3.12.1, system version V1.5.0, firmware is 0.0.9.
I actually think the tradeoff of removing the charger and put the reader and stuff in there is brilliant... Ellipal is doing a great job here, prob the safest hardware wallet out there (If the firmware is legit ofcourse)
I bought the Ellipal Titan 1 two years ago, but I've never even taken it out of its packaging because I bought a Keystone Pro instead. If I want to use the Ellipal 1 now will it still be good to go?
HI @CyberScrilla, i just discover tour Chanel des day ago. Good content. Elipal titan 2.0 is not open source. Dors this mean that i can't import my private key ( titan 2.0) into another hardware wallet? Can i only import my private key info another Elipal wallet?
Open source refers to the code and its transparency. It has nothing to do with importing keys. You can import the Titan 2.0 seed phrase into other wallets no problem. And thanks for watching the channel!! - Alex
I try to update my usd card. I put the new update on the card and when i try to update my ellipal 2.0 it says . Examination failed, please check the microSD card or update it. When i check my version its v3.9.0. but the update on the card says v3.12.1 and when i try to update it wont work
I don’t think much of it because I don’t know much about it tbh. As far as a wallet that can store it, I know the Ellipal 2.0 lets you store and swap it.
That firmware update wouldn't have actually worked, as you had the Green Light of Death. Did you want to just test inserting the MicroSD into the dock, then connecting power, and seeing if you can get the status light to turn blue? (Indicating that the MicroSD was successfully mounted) You don't need to have the Ellipal itself in the dock, as the issue is in the dock itself...
I know it wouldn’t work, I made the video before the firmware update was available on the site (as stated in the video). It was simply to display how to update the device. 👍
@@cyberscrilla I understand that, as I also received the device prior to launch, but the issue is that when you inserted the MicroSD and powered the dock on, the MicroSD failed to mount. (The light on the dock staying off for 5 seconds and then turning green showed this, and it has nothing to do with the actual file on the MicroSD card) There is actually a firmware update available now, so I'm curious as to whether you get the same behavior when attempting to update the firmware, which would actually prevent from from successfully flashing it. Basically, when working correctly, the dock light should turn blue with ~1 second of powering it up with a MicroSD inserted.
@@CryptoGuide My apologies, I understand what you mean now. It seems like the micro SD card shipped with this device is subpar. Here's how i got it to work. 1. Plug in the power cable to the adapter 2. Insert and hold the micro sd card all the way down until the blue light turns on, then release 3. Then the firmware update should work This worked for me. - Alex
Yea the interesting thing is that while it will sometimes work if you power it up first and then insert the MicroSD that seems to be very unreliable, so the workflow you have suggested should be avoided. If you power cycle the device, with the MicroSD inserted, does your come straight back to the blue light or sit with no light for 5 seconds, then turn green? @@cyberscrilla
@CryptoGuide the main way I get it to turn blue is by plugging the power in first, and then inserting the micro sd card (again, you have to hold it all the way down until it turns blue). It seems to rarely work if I put the micro sd card in first, then plug in the power chord. Definitely buggy.
Hello When you purchase these wallets they don’t explain that they won’t send to a exchange without a upgrade, I’ve currently experience this at the moment Can you please cover this .
I mean. Firmware updates are crucial not only for usability, but to fix potential security vulnerabilities. Not that there are any at this time, but if there were, you’d want to update the firmware
I bought the Titan 2.0 and unfortunately was not able to use it because I couldn’t update the firmware. The card and dock worked, but the device just kept saying “File copy failed.” I tried multiple times and even tried different cards. No dice. It stops after a few seconds at 1%. Probably spent 3 hours trying different downloads, cards, cables, etc. I’m done with this.
@@cyberscrilla Yes. Quick format first. then I did the long format. Nothing is working. Bought another card and that one won’t even get the light to turn blue! It’s unfortunate because I liked the idea of this unit over my tiny Trezor Model T. I think I might try a Tangem next if I can get my $ back from Ellipal.
@@maseongreen770 Bought one and that card won’t work at all. It won’t even turn the light on the base blue. Ellipal said they are sending me a new base. That was a week ago. We’ll see. Shouldn’t be soooooo f-ing hard. About ready to smash this with a hammer and go with something else.
@@cryptozzzcryptozzz2294 you got it. I also compare the two in this video: Best Air-Gapped Crypto Wallets in 2024 (Complete Guide) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Gf8oVB8ROaQ.html
Mine died all the time. The battery only changed started charged for ten minutes tops and the device to charge it sucks. Absolute crap and you will freak out and possibly lose your crypto because the battery will die. Simple as that. Prefer something with no battery. Never tried ledger which everyone loves but tried a few and honestly the titan 1 sucks strictly because of this. Everything else was cool but that is a deal killer for sure
im trying to update it. i put the update on the microsd card and the holder is blue but i van not update it. found alot of people with the same problem cant find a solusion anywhere . anybody got some tips?
Yesterday my crypto dealer and I were unable to scan my cell phone QR code with my cold wallet. It worked in the past but this last time it would not work and it is very stressful. I would never ever buy an ellipal again. It looks cool and state of the art, but there are problems when trying to sell your crypto. I left my crypto dealer empty handed after wasting an hour of trying.
Hard to believe you are hosting this site and have no idea what a crypto dealer is. A dealer is someone that will buy and sell crypto for you. Someone who will cash in when you want to sell and who will have crypto available when you want to buy.
Your ignorance and lack of understanding as a host is shocking. Not everyone is technically savvy, and your assertion that only those who do it your way, are legitimized is an abomination. I suggest that this platform is not for you. Your asinine comments truly reflect how scummy you are inside. It's sad that it took this for you to look in the mirror. Even sadder that you seem to relish who you are.
@@cyberscrilla that entails some type of baccdoor access imo to seedphrases... I just personally wouldn't get this model .I would also rather be able to sign transactions with fingerprint like on the keystone as opposed to having to type in a password each time.just imagining if im out at a btm(I dont purchase with credit card cash only) I wouldn't want the surveillance having a chance to have my passcode and fingerprint signature ensures safety on that matter for me.
incorrect. you said the ellipal titan and titan 2.0 require the dock. the titan comes with a charging cord adapter. the dock can be used with the titan but isnt necessary
Also, people forget that those secure elements are proprietary. So even though a device may have open source software, the inner workings of the secure elements are closed source. No way to confirm whether or not the manufacturer has created a back door or not. We just have to “Trust” that they didn’t lol. That’s why devices like the Blockstream Jade and SeedSigner are growing in popularity. They don’t use Secure Elements, but rather alternate methods that make them truly 100% open source.
@@cyberscrilla yep! I think the best way to mitigate how much you trust is simply by using multiple wallets from different manufacturers. My collection of hardware wallets is starting to rival my wife’s shoe collection lol
Don't waste your time on this piece of junk if you want to use it with metamask. It does not work even with latest update. They lie if they say it does...
I have a quick question I did order off of the link you provided for my Ellipal but when I received the item the package said it came from Julia 2756 Virgina street Chicago I’ll 60609 which kind of concerned me, I just want to make sure no one has tampered with the device before I use it please respond with something that could ease my mind thanks!
