Tatis, Ozzie and Acuña got me back into MLB a few years ago. Now with kids like Elly and Oneil Cruz, its kept me watching. MLB has become my 2nd favorite sport over the NBA. I was into it hardcore as a kid during the Bonds, Sosa, McGwire days and then dipped out in the early 2010's. Glad i got back into it. I missed baseball.
Crazy story how he made the league. When he was used/brought in by scouts for a game to make another player look better which back fired when he destroyed everyone on the field.
@@gavinwinkler1147 aye. I haven't caught up to familiarity with Wynn yet. But I just thought it was be a hilarious yet promising bizzaro depth chart, if the infield had cannons and the outfield threw rainbow bloops. Elly, Cruz, and Wynn 3rd to 2nd in the infield. And Mickey Moniak, Corbin Carroll, and Josh Lowe out in LF, CF, and RF
@@bigfloridapimpas a cardinals fan wynn has got a hell of an arm and his base running is top notch with his speed while on top of that at the plate hes got a .323 avg
Elly Broke Statcast. Registered a throw at 106.9. The actual throw was 102-103. It shows Statcast can be tricked. Until a mathematician proves Masyn actually throws 102.5, like one did with the Ellly 106.9 throw Elly will hold the title.
Positioned at a distance 224 feet from home plate for the relay, Winn unleashed a 101.2 mph throw, per Statcast that sailed past Cardinals second baseman José Fermín and got to catcher Willson Contreras on one hop. As it turns out, that Winn rocket proved to be the fastest recorded throw by an MLB infielder in the Statcast era (since 2015).

Elly has made throws quicker. He recorded a 106.9 mph throw on statcast. Sadly the reds have a midget at first so the play wasn’t made but the point stands.
I've always considered the best infield arm to be Ken Caminiti R.I.P. and Elly is right with him. I hadn't even realized this until now. Probably because I'm not a Reds fan.
Sadly he does that a lot. Pretty much either an absolute beautiful 100mph throw right on the money as shown in the video or a rocket into an 8 year olds face that’s sitting in the stands. They’ve started calling him “Error de la Cruz” 😂
He's improving everyday. This is his FIRST full season in the bigs. Not to mention he's played short all year, so he's had to learn the position. Dude is an absolute freak. Hope the Reds lock him up for years to come.
@@toomuchtobmache is a shortstop, he's always been a shortstop. Third was the new position he had to learn last season. Why should the reds lock him up for years? He leads the league in strike outs, and is only batting around .220, and he commits countless errors. If you think the reds should lock him up for years then you're not a reds fan. I am a reds fan, and we need him off the payroll ASAP.
I played 3rd, center and left field (and a bit of SS). Mostly at 3rd though (high school, some low level college, and of course men’s league or town ball). My pitchers hated me at 3rd for my arm lol (and obviously I’m no big leaguer throwing upper 90’s). I did throw damn hard though, and from the hot corner I couldn’t throw it over the pitcher or it would sail over the first basemen, always need to be a frozen rope about chest/waste high… so I would always see the pitcher (in my tunnel vision) either hitting the deck or running his ass off the mound to get out of the way lol. When I got into my 30’s I finally switched over to softball. Every time I played with a new team the first game all my new team mates would just be “holy shit man, you got an arm”. They would stick me in left center and I basically shut down any extra base taking (like there is any in softball anyways). These days I’m getting close to 40, my shoulder is shredded and it’s painful to even play catch with my kid :/… ahh the good ole days though
The accuracy of these throws is pretty impressive. Even if he were to completely lose all his hitting ability, I think he could at least be a star closer
Elly did make a throw this season that recorded 106.9. I can’t recall who was at first but it was a little high and quick so he didn’t make the catch. Rightfully moving so. That is moving quick af.
Elly De La Cruz, a shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds, was reported to have thrown a ball at 106.9 mph . However, it was later announced that there was a glitch in the recording system, and the speed was not officially recorded. Regardless of the speed, many of De La Cruz's teammates and opponents have praised his incredible arm strength.
@@bruhziledits The fastest official pitch in baseball was 105.8 mph by Aroldis Chapman on September 24, 2010, against the Padres. However, Chapman is not the only pitcher to have thrown a pitch over 105 mph. There are reports that Nolan Ryan's pitch was clocked at 100.8 mph, but with modern-day technology, it would have been measured at 108.1 mph.
@@spencernene that was the guiness world record pitch recorded by Chapman later he recorded an even faster one but the old one is still registered by Guiness as the fastest pitch

There’s a few reasons here, one he didn’t start throwing side armed like every kid in high school thinks they should be doing, and two his arms are longer than average so he’s basically set, love this man
So im from Cincinnati. Amelia area. Im 39 and ive been in boring ardmore Oklahoma for probably 15 years. Its about 30 min north of Gainesville TX border. Nothing here really to have fun but workds largest casino. Anyways i dont ever even get to watch my reds or bengals until reventlybsince ive been on worans comp. I dont have time nor can i afford it. But its exciting times for the reds. I dont have any memoribilia for i cant afford it. But my friend suddenly messaged me and was like hey come get this shirt i got you. I ordered one and they sent me two he said. I go to get it and low and behold its a freaking elly de la cruz jersey. The black one with cincy on front. Its dope. Sorry that was a lot of blabbering
Dude I played second for the Expos organization and I had to cut off this 6'7 player from carousel island, who would throw 105-108mph from right. The damn ball sounded like a freight train coming at me. No bull.
Pro speed is awesome. Note: When it is seen that a 14 year old is throwing from 3rd to 1st on a 90' field, I have to say he is hitting 85+ mph. Maybe someone at a higher level should check this kid out. I have seen alot of athletes, and this one seems different.
Maybe if your a person who knows nothing about the history of baseball. I can’t believe I subbed this guy. Baseballs been around almost 150 years. This guy has a channel for what 2? And he has mike Schmidt’s arm strength? Or Ozzie smiths. brooks Robinson. No disrespect to elly I’m saying the game is much bigger and these people sensationalize things to get clicks. I mean the amount of infielders that came up and this one just happens to be the greatest ever, just when he needs a video to put out. That’s the truth. If he was truthful that’s what he’d say
That's why they refer to somethings as statcast era records. You'll never know unless you pain stakingly go back and watch old footage, get a distance of the throw, get a accurate time to cover that distance then calculate into MPH, then that only a estimated mph and not an official.
