ELO - Standin' in the Rain | REACTION | EXTREMELY Exciting. 

This whole album is a musical masterpiece made even the more impressive by the fact that Jeff wrote it in 14 days!

Jeff is the absolute master of using music. He can not only eliciting emotions but memory and /or imagination. I would think most people would understand being court in a down pour. Mine was taking the dog for his walk on a very dark, stormy looking day but not raining yet, so take umbrella and of we go. We get halfway home when it absolutely pours down and thunder and lightning are happening simultaneously, so I can't put my umbrella up ( great lightening rod!! ) and have to stand under some bushes with dog and get drowned . That's what this song does to my memory whenever I hear it. So powerful.

Concerto for a Rainy Day is a frickin’ masterpiece. This whole album is. I almost wore out my vinyl, I played it so much! Jeff Lynn is a treasure. One of my first concerts ever was ELO back when this album came out - I was in awe at how great they sounded live. More ELO please!

Great reaction Sal, the whole concerto is a masterpiece, basically it tells the story of a man slipping into depression going through a whole lot of emotions coming out of the other side being happy, hence mr blue sky ending the concerto when everything is cool with the world again, you’ll love big wheels👍

Back in the olden days the best albums tied the songs on one side, or the whole album, together. I've played this album hundreds of times since it came out (kept the cassette in my first car at all times).

Jeff Lynne's ELO won't disappoint, especially with this two-album masterpiece. I bought this album twice, wore the first one out. LOL!

I love Jeff Lynne! ELO is my all time favorite band! While Jeff admittedly is heavily influenced by The Beatles there is absolutely no other van that comes close to sounding anything like ELO! Happy energetic danceable melodic joyous music! All over the world is my current favorite. Please do more ELO! ❤

This song is a masterclass in sonic production and all done before the powerful tools available to today's composers and mixers were dreamt of. So many layers and transitions, so much energy. And its a great song so works on everything from a humble mp3 player through to top end audiophile gear.

Good reaction. At the beginning of the song where it sounds like thunder, if you listen closely it is saying "concerto for a rainy day". So many cool hidden effects in ELO's music.

Standing In The Rain is my favorite E.L.O. song out of their entire catalog. Amazing how many hits Lynn cranked out of a Swiss Chalet in gloomy weather. Ultimately giving us the happiest rock tune in history Mr. Blue Sky. But personally I like listening to the whole suite in one go. The editing and sound engineering is amazing as they transition between each song. Seems almost a crime to separate them individually. 😂

ELO are superb. A much missed out album that I love aside from this superb album is Time.

Hi. Just for the "record", Standin' in the Rain is the first song from the Rainy Day Concerto followed for the rest of the songs (3 more) on the same side of the record. I may suggest you to consider to do a review of the hole Concerto. Anyway the Out of The Blue album is another Jeff Lynne's testimony of his genius and he constant creativity always in motion. ELO shows usually open with this song. It's my favorite track from this double-LP.

I remember their first hit couple hits. Like the Chuck Berry classic Roll Over Beethoven. I didn't take them very seriously until I later bought their album. Jeff Lynn is heck of a musician.

You should listen to the follow-up cut, "Big Wheels," if you haven't already.

The whole album is ear candy……the whale is another track that takes you …into the ocean

"Standin' in The Rain" bleeds into "Big Wheels", which is possibly my favorite song from the album. Try that one next.

Very theatrical! This shows us how wonderful deep tracks can be! Not all deep tracks are that good though.

Check out the song Jungle off the same album. It a lighter side type of song.

Love ELO! I have a request/suggestion. Could you do a back to back reaction to Papa Roach’s song “Last Resort” & then Falling in Reverse “Last Resort (Reimagined)”. Both are SO good!! Falling in Reverse did their version with the blessing of Papa Roach & their lead singer loved what Ronnie did with it. I think you’d love both!
