10:37 What would robot technology look like if Elon Musk and Boston Dynamic cooperated?

Elon Musk LEAKED BIG Rival "Tesla Optimus Gen2" - Boston Dynamics Atlas! Will Hit Market Soon!
With the Tesla Optimus, Tesla has come a long way in a short time: 3 generations of robots in just 16 months, and each generation is a promise for the successor product. If the Bumblebee prototype is the initial foundation that brought Tesla into the field of robot development, Optimus Gen 1 is a demonstration that Tesla has a long-term strategy to produce this technology. Then, at the end of 2023, Optimus 2 was released to the surprise of the fan community, and questions like whether it could compete with Atlas Boston Dynamic were discussed quite a lot. So if we had a robot Olympics, what do you think the winner would be?
Let’s find out in today’s episode of Tesla Car World! Welcome back to our channel. Before we begin, With all good wishes for a brilliant and happy Christmas season. We hope things are going all right with you and your family. Thank you for accompanying us all this time. Now, let’s get started with today's content!
Comparing these two technologies is in some ways quite disadvantageous for Tesla because Boston Dynamics has more than 20 years of experience developing robots, while Tesla has only entered this field for less than 2 years. However, even if SpaceX catches up with Nasa, it is completely easy to imagine a new Tesla robot technology that is more advanced than its predecessors.

Tesla doesn't need boston Dynamics, and I'm saying this as a long time Boston Dynamics fan. everything in the BD robots is programed. Tesla can easily do the same if they wanted to but their robot is leaning with A.I.

One huge difference is that every part on Optimus will have been designed to be easily mass produced, and every iteration will improve on that part of design, so when it’s ready for production it’ll be easy to do. Atlas is more of a proof of concept platform.
@mrlemm2030
@mrlemm2030 4 месяца назад
I don't think Atlas is just proof of concept, Atlas is literally leaps ahead of all it's competitors, and no doubt they will have a version available to the public in the near future, like Spot....Tesla isn't even in the top ten of companies that produce advanced robots, Musk has is own platform to show it off, they don't, and lets face it, just looking like something from the future doesn't mean it's any good, it can barely walk....it's taken years for Boston Dynamics to learn how to do it properly. Tesla has a long way to go, like their self drive cars have.
@Yosser70
@Yosser70 4 месяца назад
@@mrlemm2030 Spot is a fantastic bit of kit for preprogrammed tasks and remote operation but that’s the difference here, Optimus is being designed to work on its own, with minimal outside input. Atlas is fully programmed at the moment, it knows how to walk and balance but doesn’t know where to go without being told. They are aimed at very different markets, Atlas will be for manual labour, whereas Optimus will be more of an all around helper robot, with much more intelligence.
@mrlemm2030
@mrlemm2030 4 месяца назад
@@Yosser70 yes agreed, the ai in the Tesla bot may be so called cleverer than Atlas, but being able to move completely freely like a human is more important than what it mentally can achieve, it's a robot first intelligence second, Atlas is a very complicated and advanced machine even without programmed intelligent AI of what your saying the Tesla bot has. A bit like Dr Steven Hawkins then .... To be the best robot it needs both these abilities. The Tesla bot hasn't and it's not a case of just programming it to make it function like a human. All the micro movements of all the actuator's Atlas does have come from year's of understanding how not to do it, unless Tesla copy someone's else's research, how will they know...?Come on when they showed it, you could see they were all hoping desperately that it didn't fall over....lol...its not even halfway there ...

The most important piece of this whole equation to consider is that Boston dynamics is using barcodes on boxes. Tesla is teaching their AI to understand the world around it. They could once they perfect this, which appears to be happening quick, literally just scale the robot up and make like a 30 ft tall Optimus for work on construction sites or something. This evolving Optimus being alone is going to replace just about everything.

It _shouldn't,_ partially because it USES the FSD dataset, which is being debugged AND re-bugged by millions of drivers daily. Once a solid link between the functional process - steering vs walking, hands and feet vs tires, the rest is just time for users to train the system.

The issue with Boston Dynamic robots is mainly the fact they are not using AI/neural networks for self-learning balancing and movement actions. This is the reason why Tesla bots will become more and more fluid in motion near human-like perfection.

Boston Dynamics has stalled out on human robots for the last 8 years. They haven't really made any massive improvements in that robot in a long time. Tesla is proving that with hard working people better robots can be built fast. Boston Dynamics is simply doing tricks on youtube to keep the money rolling in so they can have a pay check. Tesla is trying to make a real product to make money.

Nice comparison, but I honestly see little reason for Elon to buy out Boston Dynamics. Atlas is a very different set of gears, with little crossover tech that could enhance Optimus. Once Optimus is finalized, manufactured and bringing in revenue, he can just scale up by 20% and make an industrial strength Oppy Prime for heavier work, STILL able to immediately use the Tesla dataset.

its like comparing apples to oranges, preprogrammed to learning, research to real-world usefulness, we need both to advance into a post scarcity world, in 10 years time, tesla will incorporate a lot of Boston research into their bots, you have to look beyond one or two years and see where labor can be displaced, tesla factories first of course, lots to do yet!!

BD don't offer much, maybe in the actuators, but that is about it. BD robots do not have Ai powering it, and the moving parts can be created by Tesla, which they are already doing it. i prefer optimus tbh based on its use. As a person that has been in the academic world, I know that research done for research sake is a thing. They may just work on things to learn about the science rather than actually develop things that have value to the world. Where as tesla is a company that will sell the product, make money from the clients, reinvest the money and improve the technology for a specific use. Which means that they will become more adapted and efficient for adding value in the area they are used. Boston dynamics will likely just stay in the background.

We're looking at it the wrong way. The way to know who will come out on top in the end is to look at the engineering and management styles. Elon is a super genius who has an ability to see beyond the horizon when it comes to technology. He instinctively knows the direction things should go. Takeaway: Both robots are amazing machines. Very impressive engineering. Boston Dynamics Atlas is more of a kinetic worker robot performing physical tasks. Tesla Optimus Gen2 is more cerebral with defined precision in its operations. Exceptional science applications on both. Question: Hydraulic fluid can be any fluid, correct? including air? which would then make it pneumatic right? Air is lighter and much less polluting than oil. Air lines are easier to replace and maintain. Is air more difficult to work with? Is that why they use oil? I have no idea. This is why I love science and technology. Experts in the field do incredible things. The possibilities are limited only to imagination and physics. Fascinating stuff!

Hydraulic fluid must be oils (mineral oil, synthetic oil, water-based oil, bio-oil, etc.) and not air; air is not a liquid, as you understand. I said years ago that to get a true android in a shorter time the companies will need to form a co-op. They should not combine their companies. The different types of bots will be needed to go to space. They will have to be sent first to build infrastructure before humans can go long term.

There will soon be a LOT of $15 per hour fast food workers with pink slips, as lines of Optimus flip burgers for 15 cents per hour in electricity.

Elon already announced a Gen3 and China has a Gen6 full humanoid. This is obsolete already.

With battery density what it was, Boston dynamics did what they had to do by adopting hydraulics. Now that energy density has improved, the immediate future is electric. Boston dynamics tech is becoming obsolete.

They might make a good team. The Tesla bot could have a Boston bot push button remote control. Together they could build and run an indoor farm on Mars. Boston bot could plant potatoes and Tesla bot could take care of the chickens and gather the eggs with those delicate fingers.

Once the teslabot starts building the other robots tesla can save tons of money and make the bot cheaper plus I feel tesla bot will be able to cook not Chef level but good enough to keep someone feed and happy

Tesla's Optimus 2 bot seems more capable of integrating into everyday life. The proof is in the pudding, what Optimus can accomplish. On practical daily task just like the Jetsons Rosie the robot. Useful tool that will elevate it beyond an expensive toy. Woo-hoo🤩 to the seniors....

You assume a lot. There is footage showing Tesla sped up the presentation. It’s still slow. And unbalanced

Those are fake plastic eggs. When Optimus picks it up, you can see it crush a little.

So in other words you can train the robot to punch, shoot a gun, and fight humans. Lovely. The best part, the more humans it kills, the scarier it will become.

Replacing workers with robots may seem like a good thing but what do you do with the people (that have families) that need a job and pay taxes? Should the companies be forced to pay the government Soto tax money to go to the people that are out of work or cannot find work? Some say let the people that have lost their jobs be re-educated. Many people out there are doing the job that is repetitive and that's as far as they can do in their life-skills.

No he lost 22 pounds. This is American company. And like it or not America became the greatest manufacturing country in the world not using the metric system.

If you are going to compare robots you may want to do it soon. When Optimus starts its AI learning it will leave all other robots way behind.
