Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics and Elton wrote the music and performed - they were together from the very start and for over 40 years - one of the best if not the best partnerships in the music industry
Bennie and the Jets was supposed to be a futurist rock band. This was also Elton's first hit on black radio...so technically this was considered an R&B hit.
When I was 13 years old, this was my first Elton John album. Given as a gift and I've been a fan ever since. My favourite album is Honky Chateau and Madman Across the Water, but Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is special. It's a classic.
3 Elton songs 1st Empty Garden He and John Lennon lived next foor to each other in NY and was supposed to hang out with John And he hadnt heard from him and he heard the news across the radio that John had been shot and killed He sat down and wrote Empty Garden 2 Philadelphia Freedom 3. Little Jeanie
Like Most of the others have said "Funeral for a friend/Love lies Bleeding"! Also "GoodBye Yellow brick road", "Daniel" , "Philadelphia Freedom", "Levon"! Also Check out "Cold Heart" (Elton remake with Dua Lipa)!
Daniel, Your Song, Crocodile Rock were all major hits in the early 70s. And you are right, no music decade has ever come close to the 70s. There is good music throughout but the 70s was special.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Really like to see your reaction to ELTON JOHN 🎵 Funeral for a friend/Love Lies bleeding 🎵 🎶 The original sounds tracks You gonna adore this song ❤ 🎵 Keep the GOOD WORK Biz ✌
Elton would get a packet of Bernie Taupin lyrics. One of Elton's bandmates said Elton would write the music to lyrics one song after another with amazing speed.
@@yockfromoz All my friends at that time didn't like the album, and indeed it has peaks and valleys, but that song will always be special to me. Something magical was happening there.
Funeral for a Friend/ Love LiEs Bleeding was one I use to request a lot a couple years ago but it took a longtime for it to catch on and many have requested it here.. Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting another great one also.. Burn Down The Mission , you gotta hear that one .
Actually the Piano Man is Billy Joel's nickname. But it could apply to Elton as well. Elton didn't really write any lyrics. He had a songwriting partner named Bernie Taupin. I've read that Bernie would write lyrics then give them to John and he would create the music for it within an hour many times. Genius. Check out Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Honkey Cat
Reg is one talented M/F'r singing and playing... there has been great music in every decade but undoubtedly the 70's reigned over them all IMO. all 70's all month and then just keep going;)
To be clear, BT writes the lyrics, but the music and arrangements are all written by EJ…I think you know that but just n case. Anyways, it’s an interesting mix because BT writes very intimate, puts-you-there lyrics and EJ sings them with such style and sincerity you’d swear he was singing from the heart. I think that instrument you were thinking might be a harmonica is actually an Italian electronic keyboard whose name I forget.
Hi I love ur reaction I request Daniel please. Even though it has to do with the war it makes me think of my mom she fought cancer which was a sad ending for me
He has a life long music partner that writes the lyrics and Elton writes/creates the music around it. They are a team. Don't remember the partners name.
@@watchbizmatik lol takes me a while to sub Biz , i gotta like the content and the person producing them . lol you met my requirements , im loving this channel . great job mate . and i appreciate the fact you've noticed my comments .
Sometime soon you gotta do Good Bye Yellow Brick Road! One of my first favorite songs ever (age 5). Very melancholy song but catchy too, I would LOVE LOVE your take on this song , its on this same album. At age 5 to me it was like a good bye to innocents Will you do it for me bro?
Well ,for me ,the cartoon that I'd place it with would be Josie & The Pussycats ... however this whole album is about his trip through life. The next album you may wanna check out us Madman Across the Water ... Levon is my face cut 😎
Elton doesn't write the words they are written by Bernie Taupin his writing partner for over 50yrs. Elton writes the music and they have never been in the same room to write a song.
Boy howdy you have your work cut out for you because he has soooo much music. He was in concert in Chattanooga, TN. Several years ago and he didn’t have an opening act and he performed for at least 3 hours .
Elton John before drugs messed with his mind. Bennie and the jets is the song that introduced me to EJ. Song had no low points. The piano solo makes you go WTF did I just hear. Review Tiny Dancer
