This guy has so many good songs, it’s insane. To judge him on his lifestyle is ignorance. Thank you for what you did for the music industry, you definitely will be missed.
Does any one actually do that anymore?... lol... the best way to get rid of racism is to QUIT FUCKING TALKING ABOUT IT!!!... lmao...I don't think any fan of Sir Elton John are worried about homosexuality moron... retarded comment... you might want to retract that...🤣...
I don't care what he does in his private life because people only need to know about his professional life Music. It's no ones dam business what he does in his private life. He deserves privacy. If Elton wants to tell people about his private life ... Fine.
@@Brandon-fb8nf Me aswell. I am 18 and love him. I only listen to him billy joel and the beatles really. All similar genres but so different in ways they present their music!
Bringing Bernie out was a nice touch. I saw one of Elton’s pre-COVID Farewell shows at Madison Square Garden in 2018 and he dedicated “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” to Bernie and his family.
@@vinmirarchi Definitely. As Elton said at MSG when I saw him there, “Without Bernie Taupin there would be nothing, because I write to lyrics and the lyrics come first and that’s how everything starts. The little seed that he plants springs into trees or dies into unborn bushes. And as I said earlier, fifty years together is something else.” By “nice touch”, I meant insisting on having Bernie come on stage. Bernie tends to shun the limelight and has been quite content to leave that to Elton.
Hoping to see Bernie was the main reason I bought a ticket to Sunday night’s show (I had seen there Saturday as well!). I breathed the same air as Bernie Taupin. I am happy.
@@GavinLiamLogan I don’t get a lot of perks from being visually impaired, but at every EJ show I went to, his team was very kind to me, making sure that I had a chance to see him up close. I even got an autograph from Elton during a solo show in Denver 11 years ago (he touched his hands to mine when he gave the signed CD back to me) and I got to stand next to the stage for the last half hour of his first farewell tour show at MSG. Knowing that Bernie and his family were there too made that night extra special. I’ve been very blessed
1970-1976 he made some of the greatest music in history. His later work was good too but in the early 70’s he was pure genius. When I hear one of those songs it takes me back to where I was, what I was doing and how I was feeling. A very special place in my heart for those songs. Just like a certain smell or aroma it carries me back to my youth. If only for 3-4 minutes.Makes my life much more enjoyable and meaningful.
Could not agree more the run of album s from The Elton John album through to captain fantastic only let down by the disappointment of the Caribou album is probably only matched by the run of albums by Springsteen from Born to run through to Tunnel of love twelve years later .Perhaps my own disappointment with the Caribou album comes from it following the superb Goodbye Yellow brick album.
100% agree, although he wrote "Your Song" in 1969. I know that his self-titled "Elton John" album wasn't released until 1970, but I'm guessing most or all of the songs on the album were written in the late 60's. Lots of great songs on that album including "Border Song" and "I Need You to Turn To". He did have excellent songs after 1976, but his best work was released in the 7 years from 1970 to 1976.
Must have been hard for Elton to say goodbye to all his fans and to play his final concert in The Dodger Stadium where he got his start!! He is an amazing talent and very humble. But you can't fault him for wanting to spend more time with his family!! Bless you Sir Elton John!! Your music will live on forever!! Thank you for all your beautiful songs!! Love you!!😙😚❤❤
He never started at the dodger stadium,he played the troubadour club a few times and then as he got more popular,he did the stadium,s ,you don't think he arrived in the states in 1970 and sold out the dodger stadium with no hit singles or albums in high demand
@@sharonsiwicki9228 lol,not a major in your life I,m sure,he didn't play dodger stadium till 1975, at the height of his career, the album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy had earlier in the year become the first single or album ever to debut at no1 in the billboard charts ,the Beatles and led zeppelin had albums that debut at no4 in the sixities, and the fab four had singles to debut in the top ten,but no one had been popular enough to debut at no 1 and then he did it again in October of 1975 with the follow up album Rock of the Westies so he became not only the first artist to debut at no1 but first and second, long before the debuts of today which occurs almost weekly now in billboard under the neilsen soundscan system, Elton did it first and did it the hard way
@@robdykes3659 But what a way for Elton to end his Good Bye Yellow Brick Road Tour though!! And I was watching a few of videos of interviews and stuff, and he is about the only entertainer that I know of that really connects with the young and upcoming singers of today, and they connect with him as well!
I rember Sleeping out on our front porch with all the neighbor kids, we had the biggest porch, and after midnight we would hear ROCKET MAN COME ON, LOOKING UP AT ALL THE STARS ON A HOT SUMMER NITE. THINKING WHAT IT BE LIKE TO BE A ROCKET MAN FLYING UP TO SPACE..!!❤❤❤❤ GREAT MEMORIES! ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS!!!!!!!
Took my bride to say “goodbye” 3 times…last at Soldiers Field in Chicago, August 5th… We’ve seen him a cumulatively 7 times throughout his career and 44 years of marriage and 49 years of being best friends. We have seen many, many artist of all manner of genres. Even backstage passes to a Dead concert, assisting swinging “Mr. Bones” out over the crown and meeting Jerry Garcia & Bruce Hornsby. I can honestly say…he is without a doubt the most talented and prolific musical artist of our generation. His generosity to all peoples around the globe is unmatched. We wish for him all the happiness he has so deservedly earned.
Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote a few of the best songs of all time. Elton being the amazing performer and musician that he is made the music come to life! Cheers to the Rocketman!
What a great ending!! I saw Elton in concert twice. The first time at MSG in NYC. Elton was at the peak of his outlandish costumes and antics. His guest performer was John Lennon (it was John's first appearance in 5 years and sadly, his last. That is really poignant for me since I saw the Beatles in concert in 1964.). It was obviously the show of a lifetime. The second time was with Billy Joel. Two musical geniuses playing hit after hit together without missing a beat, or a note vocally or instrumentality. They were great together. He was a pioneer, not hiding his homosexuality. His talent was so huge that it overshadowed the prejudices of that time. He and Bernie Taupin created volumes and volumes of music that will be remembered long after we are all gone. Truly the end if an era...an unforgettable era.
I started seeing him in 1981, i believe. Easily one of the finest songwriters in history. The very definition of a star. Cool he brought his family out. God Bless you, Reginald. Be well. Thank you for for half a century. My Lord, I can’t believe it has been that long.
He doesn't write the songs,Bernie does and Elton put,s the music to them, could play the piano by ear at the age of 4, if your going to post then get it right buddy
I seen Elton for the first time at the Long Beach arena in 1973, I was 12 years old and my brother took me to the show. Over the years I have been to many more of Elton John shows and never ever left disapointed. Now at 61 I feel like I took the ride with him, it’s like he’s a part of the family. Thank you for a wonderful journy Elton, for the memories and the music. Enjoy retirment and the time with your family, You’ve earned it Sir, you are a legend.
Some things are just so special aren't they? Going with your brother. It's all lovely. I hope he's still around for you? My first was in Wellington New Zealand somewhere in the 2nd half of the 70's. Can't remember the year. I was so excited.
@@Mcfreddo cheers mate this will be my 10th time sitting at Elton,s table, and 15th overall, seen him Australia, america and the UK,lived there for 5 years so had the opportunity to see him 3 times, earls court, wembly stadium and the royal Albert hall, to think l won't see him again after January 28 in Auckland is freighting,he as always been here in my life,so glad my two teenage children will get to see him, they listen to today,s shit, but brought them up on Elton, Elvis, and The Beatles
I bought Every Album by the Incredible ELTON (and Bernie!) since his First in America, , and yes it Completely SUCKS that this day has come 😢 but I Applaud him for bowing out with his amazing Voice and Piano Skills still intact. We Love you Elton, , Wishing a wonderful life ahead for you however you choose to spend it ✨
I was there and he sounded amazing; what an incredible performance, especially considering he is in his mid 70's.. I also saw Bon Jovi earlier this year.. NIGHT AND DAY.. Jon is only 60 and can't hit a note anymore, super sad.
Thank you Elton John for all the awesome music that you have brought in in America we saw the beauty of your talent but the whole world sees it now You're awesome and your music will live on as legend
I was 12 years old when crocodile rock came on the radio in 1973. I became a fan right away . Your song, Bennie and the jets, Philadelphia freedom, Rocket man, Nikita, Daniel, Candle in the wind. Don't let the sun go down on me, Don't go breaking my heart, Goodbye yellow brick road. Hit after Hit, generation after generation, Elton had hit songs. I have basically spent my entire life listening to his music. I am now 61 and will always be a fan. Farewell Elton and thankyou for the music❤️
The term Legend is used to often, but Elton John and Bernie Taupin, are both Legends. Their lyrics and music will live forever. There will never be another combination like them again. Elton, and Bernie, thank you for 50 plus years. Your music will truly live forever.
I was at Elton's Thanksgiving Day Concert at Madison Square Garden in NY in 1974. He was phenomenal. He was at his prime and was standing on the piano bench and doing all kinds of antics. Then, when everyone was already pumped up to the max, he brought out a guest performer...John Lennon!!! The place went totally crazy!! It was Lennon's first public appearance in 5 years. OMG!! What a night!!! Years later I saw Elton in concert with Billy Joel. Two incredible talents complimenting each other, serving up hit after hit from their careers. It was a completely different experience, but to see and hear two giants of music was an experience that touched everyone and had them rockin'! Love Elton. Thank you, Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin for music and lyrics that the world will never forget. Many blessings. May your retirement be long, healthy and filled with joy.
What's really cool too is it seems Elton loves America and loves New York City. We know Billy Joel loves New York. Even though Elton is from the U.K., to have two great songwriters with incredible songs share a stage in the city they love sounds wonderful. What an awesome night!
@@Kurt77777 Elton and Billy Joel performed together a different night, but in NY! Thr "Garden Party" ( as Rick Nelson referred to events there) was unbelievable and of course no one realized that it would be John's last major performance. For me , personally it is very poignant . I saw the Beatles in concert in 1964 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NYC. AWESOME!!
I bought my first car in 1973 for $200. I spent almost as much for my 8 track player and speakers. The first 8 track i ever purchased was "Don't shoot me I'm only the piano player" one of my favorite Elton albums! It' still one of my favorite albums of all time. Elton and Bernie gave us the soundtrack for a generation. Music to fill our souls and bring us joy. Thanks Elton, Bernie and the Band for a half a century of timeless music! Enjoy retirement and enjoy your family. Peace and love.
Was fortunate enough to be able to work the floor for 2 of his shows earlier this summer in his unofficial hometown of Toronto. What a show and what an icon.
... just realized watching him go that another great singer, an amazing one, will not be performing...well, he is a good man, hope he will be happy with his husband and kids! Dropped a tear, to be honest...thank you for posting this! Best regards from Paris France !
One of the best when it comes to music. Farewell & thank you for the decades of music. I grew up singing your songs with family & still to this day, it’s wonderful.
A friend of mine that lives in Az went to this show with a friend of his. I would have loved to go but money is tight. Thank you Elton for your many years of great music. Enjoy your retirement and time with your family. Best to you and your loved ones today and the days ahead. stay true to who you are!
Wow - that was so touching watching Elton walk off into the sunset. Beautifully done. Such a talent. I wonder if we’ll see him doing more or if he’s truly retiring. Bless the man and his family.
I saw the October 26th show in 1975. My neighbor invited me after his friend couldn’t make it. I was 13 years old. The 70’s were a great time. All the great bands in their prime. And this one one of many concerts that I would attend.
I have followed and loved this magical star since 1973. What a gift!! His talent is timeless!! Will listen to your voice and instrument playing for the rest of my days. Thank you, Elton John. Blessings upon you.☺️
I worked that show... left field next to the camera. It was good to see him play and go out on his own terms. My grandad Mr Bongorock, Preston Epps, who was the first to implement the bongo drums in Rock n Roll music. He got everyone in to it in 1959. Played until he couldn't play anymore. He passed 3 years ago at 85, a few years after he stopped. So it's good that Elton went on his own terms.
I can't believe all the years that have gone by. Every person gets those feelings of course. Tough times in there too... I discovered Elton first in the 70's with Benny and the Jets. I was 14. I remember buying each album, finding the previous one's too when I perused the record shop. Over 50 years- wow. The shop's long gone. The first concert I went to.. What can I say. Got my last concert to go to for his, in Auckland in January. It's summer here.
I was way at the top and snuck my way in at the front it was a great night it was my first show ever seeing someone from the 70s especially on the farewell tour greatest moments ever and I was all alone thank you Elton
My first album that I thoroughly enjoyed was Elton Johns Greatest Hits. I got it from my brother when I was 14(1975). He is the best and always will be. God Bless you Elton and your wonderful family. I live about an hour away from Toronto. You will always be one of my favorites. Love and Prayers from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦❤️🙏🕊📻🎵
Of course this made me cry 😂 I was listening to Elton John at 6 years old. My mother had all of his albums. Discovering him on Vinyl was one of the greatest experiences of my life
Did you all know (I didn't) that when he went for the audition as a young fella to the music academy, she played a classical piece he hadn't heard before and he with one listen, could play the whole thing as original on the piano? A huge natural skill. He was destined.
If this is the final tour ..I can only say thank you for a wonderful sound track for my life. So many memories! I hope and believe, he will stay true to take care and enjoy his family. Being on the road I imagine is fun, but finding yourself, and showing the ones you love how you feel for them is priceless. Levon would understand this.
I’ve followed ELTON since the beginning❣️ Elton may be done Touring, BUT ELTON and BERNIE’S Music will go on FOREVER❣️ We will ALL keep Passing it on❣️Keep on Rockin❣️
Absolutely! The first time i saw him live i scored better tickets than Hugh Hefner, 2nd row in Chicago, he sat behind me, those were good times for fans
🎹Beautiful Song Brilliant lyrics, vocals and music! Sir Elton John has always had a powerful influence on the audience. Awesome Family and Friends. God Bless you Elton John thank you for sharing your life n love in the music industry all of these years 🎹☝️
This was an incredible show! I was so happy to see it live streamed so his fans around the world could see it. Thank you for bringing your musical talent to America and for being such a huge inspiration in my life. Love to you always!!
I caught his farewell tour in Orlando and cried then, and crying now knowing this was his last performance. I have not missed a Florida show of Elton Johns since the mid 80s. His performances and amazing showmanship will be missed.
Elton John is a true legend who deserves that title. He has written and performed so many brilliant songs. I hope he has a wonderful time with his family. He deserves it.
We won’t ever have a great one again like Sir Elton John he never forgets where he really got big first and hope we won’t forget all he has really give to music alone
The radio played this ten minutes before I clocked in for work and I just sat and cried 💀 I’m gonna miss him. I know he’s not gone, but it really feels like the end of something incredible.
Farewell Elton!!! I’m sure every single person whose enjoyed and been touched by your music wishes you all the best in this next chapter in life for you and your family:) you’re music will always live on and continue to touch and inspire for many generations to come.
I lost my mother to cancer when I was thirteen l had heard this song before but it didn t mean anything to me. But after her death it took a new meaning to me, even though the lyrics go in another direction. Thanks Elton!!!!!
He is the Mozart of contemporary music. It takes him on average 20 mins to write a song. How crazy is that ?! From pop-rock to country, to movie score to classical to opera …. this is true genius in music of all time. Thanks EJ for all you’ve given us !
Such a great video, thank you so much for sharing this with us. He will always be such a significant contribution to my lifes memories. Thank you Sir Elton John 😘
Thanks for sharing his last live US Canada performance of yellow brick road. Great song. . I saw him twice back in high school in the 1977/78 when we He was touring western Canada. Great great memories.
genius, talent, voice, musician, songwriter, performer and inspired me to play the piano when I was a teenager and I still play EJ songs today and enjoy every second of it, very few can accomplish what he has and his music and talent will be remembered for decades and centuries to come....oh yeah, forgot one more thing....he's the modern day Liberace!
I love Elton John and his music so much I had two American Eskimo dogs that I love so much my first one was a miniature and his name was Benny after the Elton John song Bennie and the Jets and he used to dance to that song when I played it on the stereo he lived to be 14. He was a treasure. My second American Eskimo was a standard and his name was Rocket after the Elton John song Rocket Man. He loved his song as well when I would play it to him. He lived to be 10 he passed from cancer in 2021. Love you Sir Elton John. Your music is the best. My my favorite song is Madman Across the Water. It was a great time in my life and that song just made it better.
Elton has been a part of my life since my birth...1963. I still listen to him 59 yrs later!! A true showman and one of the few who truly cares about his fans!!! Love you!!
Some of the greatest music was created and performed by the greatest musicians in world history in our time. ELTON is one of the greatest. All the best with your retirement. God bless you Elton John.
My childhood (1970s) dearly thanks you so much. "Someone saved my life tonight", "Benny & the Jets" and "Blue Eyes" are my all-time personal fave EJ songs. Again, thank you for the great songs that you & Bernie Taupin wrote.🎶🎤🌈🎶
Un po pazzo, originale, geniale, simpatico, sicuramente tutti questi aggettivi in qualche modo lo descrivono, fatto sta che sopratutto per chi come me ha più di 50 anni lo ha nel cuore perchè è un grande artista.
