I was at this show - it was my third weekend at college. We drove 300 miles each way, and crashed at a friend of a friend's place for the weekend. I think it was 400,000-450,000 people. It was free.
I was going to write I think this was part of Central Park’s free concert series. I went to the Beach Boys and and couple of others which escape me, if you can believe.
I was at Simon & Garfunkel's fall 1981 concert - I think about half a million as well. It was AMAZING. Nowadays it's all fences and sections and police. No fun.
I never knew that there were that many people in the crowd nor knowing it was free to all folk. I went to see Elton at Hanging Rock on Australia day this year for his farewell with up to 20,000 people but that's no where near this crowd. Damn. Learn something everyday and today, you're my teacher. Lol. Amazing crowd 400,000 - 450,000!!!!!!!
When being a ROCK STAR was a BIG DEAL. Queen, Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, etc.... Genuine ambitious talent that brought the world together.
I was at that concert. I got there the night before and slept in the park! When I woke up, there were 400,000 people behind me! It was one of the best concerts he ever gave, and it was free!
@TwinsthenewTrend Elton was a prodigy musician. In elementary school, he attended music school and could play complicated music arrangements by the time he was 10. That is why he was good as an adult.
Elton is one the the biggest pop stars of all times- biggest selling male singer of the 70s....LEGEND!! Yes, the biggest crowd ever for a concert in Central Park! He was in the middle of his farewell world tour when the pandemic hit. According to billboard his tour was the top grossing tour in the world in 2019. Check out the 2018 movie about his life: Rocketman.
"He killin that piano, brah, come on now, okay!" Bernie + Elton = soundtrack of my childhood! The lyrics!!! This song b-l-a-s-t-e-d!!!! Wore this one out. 🙌❤🥰
So glad to see you react to one of the biggest superstars of the last 50 years. So many hits to chose from. Try the song Tiny Dancer. It's one of his early works.
Have loved Elton John since I was in elementary school, I'm now 57 and saw him at Caesars palace in Vegas before he started his Farwell tour . It's amazing how many of my memories are tied around his songs, it's really great to see you diggin on his music, he's really talented...♡
Have attended many concerts in my 64 years but to this day I tell anyone who will listen that Elton John was the BEST concert I’ve ever seen! Much love twins, keep up the great work
Seen him live I in Atlantic City New York . Fantastic he was in a great mood that night and played way past the time he was supposed to be finished . Wonderful entertainer.
Yes, please. Listening to "Saturdays night is all right for fighting" and "I'm still standing" make me feel happy and want to dance. I love both of them
Ok seeing this nearly a year later after you posted this, and reading the comments, I have gotten so emotional at the memories this brought flooding back. THANK YOU for posting this video of his1980 Central Park concert. Like others here I was there and it was the MOST AWESOME Elton John concert I've been too (and I have been several and feel they are all great). We managed to be pretty close to the stage since a friend slept overnite at the park to mark our spot. How we found him when there werent any cellphones at the time I have no idea. But people respected the space he saved the four of us who joined him. There was a great atmosphere of excitment as we all waited for Elton John and for FREE! Like someone said below his Donald Duck costume was R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S. but this song and this moment was a highlight of that concert. Im close to hitting 60 years in age soon and at one of his farewell concerts at Madison Square Garden concert last October there I was screaming and jumping up and down to this man's music like no time had passed. So glad you recognized the talent and level of devoted fans he had even at this moment in his career yes to have people shouting the words to his song. Love you guys.Keep the videos coming.
EJ is my all time favorite! Grew up listening to every song he ever did and still do. Have seen him live in concert 7 times. He always gives a great performance and his songs are timeless. An incredible talent.
I've been blessed to have attended one of his concerts, in a much smaller setting (23,000 seat basketball arena at BYU). I've been to hundreds of concerts in my lifetime: Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz. Hell..I've even seen Inner Circle in Hawaii once (you know: Bad Boys Bad Boys. Whatcha gonna do?). But one concert sticks out in my memory as being the most entertaining...and that was Elton John. EVERYBODY knew the music and the words. It was a really FUN experience! Elton John delivered the best concert I've ever "been a part of". Truth.
LOL Cracking up that you find the crowd size surprising, Sir Elton John has been making number one hits since I was in elementary school. I'll soon be 58 ;)
Elton is one of the best. His music career spans decades and he’s not stopping. Not only He is an entertainer through and through, but an amazing entrepreneur, created the Elton John AIDS foundation, business man and is an incredible supporter of new music, artists and anyone that wants to do covers of his songs. He also currently has a show in Beats1 Radio. He has been through some incredible struggles and yet has come out on top. Try songs like I’m still standing (live), anything off the “Duets” album, and even “circle of life”. Lots of classic rock tunes for sure!!! He is loved by millions around the world and his concerts are legendary!!! Check out his “60th birthday” party in Central Park. One of his best performances!
Great reaction! Other great songs by Sir Elton John include Your Song, Funeral For A Friend, Candle In The Window, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and the list goes on.
Love this song, you are the only channel I have seen so far react to it....Elton normally sings emotional songs.....but this one really makes you shake your ass and want to kick some ass....love it!
I had this on his Greatest Hits album in 1977ish & know all the words( we learned from something called album liner notes , kids- or we made up Alot of what we thought Elton sang~😊 Lovin it! ( sorry abt Grandpa🌹)
You and your twin are absolutely delightful! I can't help but smile watching your joy with this wide range of music. Do listen to Scenes from an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel and Layla by Eric Clapton.
There's two more very good performances from him on this concert, one is Your Song, he sings in a freaking Donald duck outfit, and Goodbey Yellow Brick Road where he hits the notes so unbelievable good. So if you have time do them please. Thanks for this great reacting it was my suggestion by the way so very appreciated 😁👍🏻
Elton John in NYC my stomping grounds! I am from Long Island can't take Long Island out of this girl! Keith is from Sumter South Carolina. We are North and South!! Joan and Keith Bates
Elton is one of THE ultimate song writers and performers. A couple other piano man greats to check out ~ Jerry Lee Lewis "Whole Lotta Shakin Goin On" and Billy Joel "Piano Man"
If you enjoyed his piano playing you should check out his partner on a few tours together. Billy Joel Scene from an Italian Restaurant live on Long Island. Seen them both together an on their own
Hey my young friend. I just wanted to let you are the ONLY post I have ever subscribed to. You cracK me up. You fresh and honest and clean. If you want to go in a totally different direction check out Jim Croche, Bad bad Leroy Brown. God bless you buddy.
Just a side note Elton John is the first widely accepted gay performer. Keep bridging that gap boys. You make me proud to be an American again. Thank you.

He’s playing in New York so there’s probably a 40 to 50,000 in there in Central Park are used to live there so I know now but the Elton John all his concerts were sold out completely he played for over 1 million when it was live aid with queen and that I mean in summer his outfit do you play some of his other ones you see the duck Anthony wears but every every performance is a new outfit he took it from Elvis Presley but after he met Elvis years ago they all look up Davis it you’re kind of catch on after you see a couple of his concerts live
Me too. Saw him in NYC Madison Square Garden - I was in the balcony and it was shaking with all the foot stomping, etc. You got high on second hand smoke and everyone was singing/shouting along. It was phenomenal!
Did you know he's royalty? He is Sir Elton John, knighted by the Queen. Tiny Dancer, Bitch is Back, Pinball Wizard, some of his greats! He dresses way crazier than this!!
