Elton John VS Metallica - Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding! 

Ive heard this Metallica cover masterpiece dozens of times, James is a huge Sir Elton John fan. i saw Eltons live version and I think this is one of the best songs of all time. It truly is a great song. Metallica is playng at their best and they sound truly awesome. Lars is playing like he means it. Props to Robertos bass on this one, kirk was just spectacular and the Riff Master was just singing with passion and the guitar like always is his forte. Just might be one of my top songs from these titans...AND THEY HAVE SO DAMN MANY!! ...GARAGE INC 2.0??? Good reaction my friend.

Had the privilege of seeing Elton live in Vancouver in the early 80s, when he was still “crazy” Elton, full costume, huge glasses, playing piano from all the unplayable positions (on top, underneath….). Best concert I ever saw. Pure showman and performer…..

No piano on the Metallica version. Love both Elton’s original and Metallicas metal version. I will say that to see a definitive version from Elton maybe dip into young Elton. Lots of 70s/80s concert stuff on RU-vid. Elton in Central Park Love Lies Bleeding is as hard rocking almost as Metallica’s.

This should be one of the best rock and roll songs of all time. I’ve seen Elton live three times and this song raises the roof.

Kirk was on fire on this one. I wouldn’t be surprised if he played a role arranging it for Metallica.

Metallica should be invited to do a song for Elton’s 50 year celebration of Yellow Brick Road, the Yellowlist album!!!

Elton is a legend but Metallica took this one. Just like Jimi Hendrix's johnny b good is better than Chuck Berry's.

Best song off his best album. It's great when he starts the live show with this. Berzerkely Greek Theatre summer 1983. Only F----n $20😎 "I wonder if those changes left a scar on you, like all those hoops of fire that you and I passed through. You're a bluebird on a telegraph line I hope you're happy now. But if the wind of change is coming down your way girl, you'll make it back somehow." No offence to Metallica fans, but NOBODY can do justice to this MASTERPIECE. FWIW I'm not too fond of what they did to Bob Segar's "Turn the page".🙄

Elton has had problems with his voice since the 2000s. Also, Elton is tired of playing this song for 50 years 😂so I wouldn't pick this version because his singing style and voice are just as important as anything else.

And yet, Sir Elton will win here

Never heard Elton John and didn't surprise me as to why from most of his songs.. but Metallica?? The greatest band ever!! Not only played it but made it theirs period
