My ex-wife sent me this song and said no matter what happened between her and I, I'll always be their dad. I was also 25 when I met my future family. The youngest was 5 and her sisters, 13 & 14. 25 years later, that 5 year old is 30 and these girls have blessed me with four wonderful grandchildren. Made my life complete. Thank you for making me a better man!!

This song reminds me of how lucky I am to have had a wonderful Dad. He died 2 years ago at the age of 80. He was married to my Mom for 54 years when he died. I wish more young boys these days could have a Dad like I did.

I cry every time I hear this song. My husband and I had children from previous relationships. Together we have 4 sons (2 from him, 1 from me and 1 we had together). My son calls him "Daddy" and his sons call me "Mum". We both raised our boys together. This song hits me all the time because there is so much love within our blended family.

This is such a beautiful song. It reminds me of my cousins husband. Her sons biological father sent him a letter at age 8 saying he was CHOOSING to be absent from his life. Her current husband has been in their lives since little man was almost 2, and thank God for that.

This hits me hard! I’ve been blessed to have Dad and Pops. When mom remarried, Pops stepped up and treated me and my siblings like one of his own. Then I found out he adopted all 4 of his other children! Seven of us and he never treated anyone differently than the others. He always introduced me as his son and told people how proud he was of me. At an awards ceremony where I received several awards, Dad and Pops stood up and said “That’s our son!”. Dad crossed over in March 2017 and Pops crossed over December of last year.

I listened to My Girl and now My Boy. This is the anthem for foster care and adoption! Wow. Beautiful. My heart sings listening to this song. Love has no boundaries.

I met my son when he was 12 and adopted him when he was 14. I raised him mostly by myself and have never regretted it for a moment. The line of Elvie's "My Boy" that hit me the hardest is "The first time he called me Dad it hit me like a train." WOW, for me that first time was like nothing I had ever experienced before. Even now many years later when he calls me "Dad" it still sends shivers up my spine. He is now a dad himself and is an amazing father. He is truly MY BOY and I am so proud of him.

They’re both fine men in their 30’s now, and I have two grand babies and love them all more than life itself. I can totally relate to this being a father of 8 children, one of my sons isn't mine and I met him when I was 30 years old before he was even a year old, and I married his mother who I've known since I was in college. I'm 31 and a father to a beautiful four year old girl and walked into five stepkids every time I sing this song to my stepsons they get teary eyed and so does my fiancee this hits home

Elvie Shane is AMAZING I met him this summer. He refused to leave until all his fans met him. We had a beer with his dad and got some amazing pictures together. The back story is kinda amazing on how I met him. So I was adopted I never knew my real father but the man who adopted me, I call dad he served in the military and never missed a day together when he was home and to this day we see and each other and talk everyday I found out when I was 15 he sit me down and told me but it changed nothing he's my father put the roof over my head was there and supported me when he didn't have to I thank God for such an amazing father. So I was telling my partners dad about my dad and everything growing up and I tear up cause I had the greatest dad that didn't have to be. Anyways my partners dad and me shared many conversations about it and his dad called and asked if we would like to go to a truck show outta state we said yes its about a 6hr drive, his dad asked when we was leaving the event to head home and we said probably about 6pm. His dad asked us out to dinner so we went and he took us back to the truck show and we was gathering our stuff and talking about the great day we had his dad Said I have concert tickets I got you guys if you would like to attend said it was Tony Justice we kicked it back and fourth said it was a long drive back and should probably head home and he walked up and hugged me and his son said I never ask for anything but would love if you stay and attend with me so we did. Tony played all his songs he was amazing . Then when the stage was being reset which I didn't know there was another singer his dad looked at us and let's get a beer together before Tony comes back out im all like ok. We come back and his sons and their wife's all stand back and say cheers this is for you and I'm lost at this point I have no idea what just happened or what the hell they are even talking about and here comes ELVIE SHANE AND HIS DAD walking past me I'M LIKE OMFG NO WAY jumping and yelling did you see him guys look its ELVIE and his Dad at a Tony Justice concert omg I wanna met him but i dont wanna be that guy to invade on someone enjoying their time. They are all smiling at me cause I'm freaking out. My partners dad says isn't that the guy that sings that song you always play and talk about meaning so much to you and wanting to meet I'm like YES THATS HIM OMG THATS ELVIE. I was just excited to see him. His dad says wow that's really cool my partner looks at me says that's so crazy and then I heard Elvies voice on the mic I turned around and Said Omg no way this isn't happening my partners dad gave me a hug and said I LOVE YOU like your my son I know how much you like him and how much the song my boy means to you so I made sure you would see him. I was like wait what, yes my partner knew they played it off seamlessly, I'm like I love you all so much. We waited in line to meet him got his signature talked a few minutes and had a beer with his dad which I can say was the most fun crazy convo I've had with someone. Elvie and his dad are amazing down to earth good people and put on an amazing show. He's a must see if you like his music and he smacks down the politically correct shit its so funny when he talks about it. Such a great time. Now I can't wait to see him again lol dream came true tho.

I didn't have kids of my own, and 15 years ago, while coaching a youth football team, I had an amazing young man come into my life. He was 11 then, he's 26 now and we are so close and I truly love him as my own son. I could care less that we are not blood and of a different race, I am so proud of him! God truly blessed me and made me so much of a better man by giving me the responsibility of raising a child. This song really brought tears to my eyes when I heard it.

Beautiful song! As a father who unfortunately doesn't live as close to my son as I'd like currently, I have the utmost respect and am so thankful for step dads. I'm still fully involved with my boy's life just don't see him in person as much as I'd like, but I'm thankful he's got someone there for him when I can't be.
