About Parker, this seems to be more like making a silk purse from a sow's ear, to me. IMHO, he's still the underhanded, self-serving spendthrift. Elvis was a big hearted person since childhood who would give away whatever he had, even as poor as he was, and there was no Parker in his life. Parker was greedy (as shown by his "egress" signs) and vile (serving lemonade to unsuspecting people). Elvis would have made it, without Parker eventually, because Elvis was already skyrocketing on his way up before Parker injected himself into his and career.

I wonder what's true now. Billy Stanley wrote in his new book Elvis wondered what would have happened if he would've listened to his mom. She didn't like the Colonel. Elvis said : Sometimes I feel like I sold my soul to the devil. Elvis felt an obligation to him for getting his career started, even though he knew the Colonel was taking advantage of him.But Elvis was loyal to a fault and preferred to avoid conflict whenever possible. Elvis didn't have the heart to say no. Maybe Billy is right and it's got nothing to do with love for the Colonel. 🤔

Yes I heard about the gospel tour. JD Sumner said he and Elvis had a gospel tour planned. JD said he and his singers and the sweets were going to do a gospel tour. JD told someone Elvis was going to fire colonel parker then do the tour with them.

I don’t know who this guy Greg is but the guy they are describing sound like the guy Ed balagia thst was Parker’s nephew, there were two of his young nephews that traveled with Parker all the time doing allot of stuff. I’ve read all those thivgs and also parker married the second wife which had been with him in Las Vegas and all the tours. She was the secretary. She tells a story about how she was his confidant and secretary and his lover. I’ve heard her say it and read what she said.

I just bought your book in Amazon, just now, while i am listening- 10mins in your interview!! I’ll admit am not a big fan of The Colonel, I have a hard time warming up to him.. But as an Elvis Fan, i have all Books and Magazines written about The Colonel, Except this one - all of them i have yet to read. I was planning to read all books written about him last - to think i have close to 400 books on Elvis. My book collection on Elvis is my pride and joy! I have read your Books with Sonny West and Barbara Leigh, both I loved and enjoyed so much! I am a fan of yours! looks like i’m gonna make an exception on this one and read it as soon as I get it tomorrow, coz i love how you write and your Books. I can’t wait to read it. I remember in Sonny’s Book, that he said nice things about the Colonel. He mentions and recalls him fondly. He even thanks him in the last part of his Book that you guys wrote together. That was News and a First to me coz He is someone so hated by most elvis Fans. Sonny had really said nice things about the Colonel And he was Truly Fond of the Colonel. I never assume to know the whole story or truly form an opinion based on what the MSM spoon feeds me. My opinion of the colonel is he was good enough for Elvis so why should anyone really second guess that? People do generally look for someone else to blame when bad things happen. I'm sure they had some disagreements but don't mall humans? Great interview and I will be purchasing the book! Great job Trey!! (as always)

Nobody blames Charlie Hodge.He was a real friend to Elvis, one of his exceptionally few confidants.Others around were associates or friends..not confidants, a big difference.

This was a good discussion to listen too; I pride myself on keeping an open mind. I read, listen & watch everything I can Elvis to see things from different perspectives and sometimes I actually change my view. I'll have to listen to this interview again because I think I missed a couple of things.

Thank you, Trey for bringing this new book to our attention. You reinforced what I always say...people on the outside don't know what went on inside. We all need to remember that they were just men...human...not the perfect image we created of them. As Elvis once said in an interview, "The image is one thing. The human being is another. It's very hard to live up to an image." I hope people will extend some mercy and grace to all those involved...and to their family members still living. Sorry, but you're wrong Trey as you can't excuse Colonel taking 50%, while Elvis also paid for the orchestra, etc, when we know too, that legally this was looked at, and Colonel Parker was found guilty of double dealing and worse. While he also knew of Elvis' drug problem and NEVER did a damn thing about it and he also, never in his entire life, told Elvis he loved him. So, and I have written on Elvis for 20 years, you're sadly losing a lot of credibility, Trey, though I do think you're a good person!

Trey, I very much like your channel nut I believe your logic and facts are lacking on at least two or three points.First, it is ludicrous to believe Sonny and Red wrote their book to help Elvis.How does it help Elvis to have a salacious book for fans to read which would damage Elvis' career and popularity? In other words, knowingly realize Elvis would feel betrayal and disloyalty,, a deep hurt, and at the same time, realize that his image and career are greatly tainted..just creates depression and dejection .not conversely ,gee whiz, I had better change or I will have no fans and no career.Sonny and Red on a RU-vid video admit they wrote their book out of revenge and for money.They admit the publisher pushed them to embellish and lie to sell more books.The ghost writer of their book worked for the National Enquirer.That is all anyone needs to know about the veracity of their book...that truthful, factual National Enquirer, right? Of course not!.Recently Billy and Jo Smith state their book was written for revenge and money.And just why was Red recording Elvis'conversation with him without Elvis' knowledge? Just to help Elvis? That betrays logic to believe that.And Try, what about Sally Hoedel and her book Destined to Die Young.You seemed to understand when you interviewed her that his prescribed med use was not recreational but rather he had nine medical conditions that required treatment.Charlie Hodge and Kathy Westmoreland stated Elvis told them he also had cancer.Rather painful condition cancer which required pain killers.Elvis confided in precious few about the extent of his medical issues.He was private and had an image to uphold.Please explain how you can have two opposing views about Sonny's veracity in his false exposures and Sally's highly sourced book? By the way I spoke to Dean Nicopolous who said Clovis was not addicted.I know he is your friend.

How many times ive tried to tell online idiots how , for ex. , the Colonel did NOT take 50% across the board..that he wore many hats, that it was only from merchandising and part of touring. That he tried to tell Elvis NOT to tour in75 because he Elvis was ill,,etc,,

this isn't going to make me love the colonel or buy the book.

I did read a book that Parker’s family wrote and he did kill a girl who recently good married in a robbery while a man was selling candy at a school, the man had a business and lived in the back of his store that Parker was robbing

I was waiting for a corrective to "Evil Colonel Tom" for a long time. My Aunt assumed that Parker came between Elvis and Gospel music. And an acquaintance of mine lamented that after Elvis did the '68 special and "rediscovered who he was", the Colonel "put him back in the box". Er, Elvis only did some of his best albums after the special, and the excellent concert film THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. Even if his post-Chips Moman work was less inspiring, Elvis was still basically recording what he wanted-no "Old MacDonald" or "House of Sand". My friend probably assumed that "Jumpsuit Elvis" was something Parker forced on him. These accusations were boggling my mind. Wasn't Elvis a lot more than "50s Rebel" or "68 Special" Elvis?

Hey Trey! This was such a great interview and I'm going to buy the book to learn more. I've always heard such bad things about Parker, but Elvis did keep him around for a reason! Both your and the Spa Guy's Elvis videos have educated me so much about the true history and life of Elvis. Thanks for all of your great work! One question I do have is, there have been so many books, movies, articles, interviews, etc. about Parker over the decades that have all painted him in such a bad light. Do you know why Greg McDonald didn't come forward with all of these fascinating stories years ago so they may have helped describe Col. Parker's character in a positive way? Thanks!

Trey, I didn't watch the entire interview as I am a busy man. However, thanks for posting! Also, this guy you interviewed, from what little I watched is trying to make money writing a book on Elvis/Parker from a different point of view. Yes, Parker (not real name) was great at promoting (scammer) and getting top dollar for Elvis (cash cow). The bottom line, it's no wonder Parker could help some of the Memphis Mafia members out financially after Elvis's passing. Duh, he got a 50% cut on all of his Merch including all his earnings. I've only just started reading this book. I bought it because I wanted to get someone else's take on Col Tom Parker. I'm only on chapter 4 but it's quite interesting so far.

They didn’t have any mention of the colonels snow man’s club.

This whole “Aloha” segment, wow, great, but this was 1973. Elvis died in 1977. What exactly did Colonel do to save his “friend” in those 4 years??? Asking for a friend. 😊

Put there by the questionable political leader in the area at the time? -I'll read this with the knowledge that every non-fiction book, like every documentary, has a slant to it. -As for being the first in mass-merchandising, corporations were selling Popeye and Disney clothing in the 1930s!

So there is an interesting 2 part discussion with Joe Krein & Loanne Miller (Col's later wife). She stated many things that I actually checked with Alanna later. Alanna's view was that Loanne was lovely, but extremely loyal to the Col. She implied that Loanne would not say anything negative, publicly. Many things you've stated in this video goes along with what Loanne states in the audio recordings. Specifically when he came back teary from Graceland where Elvis wouldn't see him, basically she stated Elvis told her 'we've lost him, he's gone, I can't believe it'. She stated he was really upset about it. The movie paints the Colonel negatively and I knew straight away it was a load of rubbish, my family was sick of me saying it. In my view that movie would have never been made had Colonel been alive, he'd have sued and won for defamation. I thought Priscilla saved Elvis mansion cause,She went through all kinds of channels to get a lot of people invested in that. So it just must not have been the colonel. It must have been Priscilla too. Because there's a book out about how Priscilla saved graceland um know how his granddaughter is going to put more into it and how Lisa saved graceland 2 so I guess a lot of people saved graceland which was really nice for the Presley family. Riley is granddaughter, is putting a lot into graceland too.

Colonel Parker’s second wife when she was his secretary told the story a lot the Hawaii concert thing as she was in the car with the colonel when he thought of the satellite concert. So I’m not sure who was in car with him but maybe both of them were.

I have always defended Parker. None of the nonsense I read about him ever made sense. Elvis and Vernon were not morons, and everyone who actually knew Parker had nothing but nice things to say about him.

So the story out there where the Colonel had Elvis touring so much so he could pay off his Vegas gambling debt, would not be true, or is?

I’ve always been a big fan of Parker . What a marketing genius . He shaped the public’s image of Elvis and protected it . My understanding was 50/50 was of the merchandise . Parker invented and pushed the merch . I thought it was fair considering he did all the work with Elvis’ like and image . Any chance this will end up on audible or kindle ?

That was a great interview and thank you for doing it and shedding reason on the relationship between Colonel Parker and Elvis. I can see after listening that Colonel Parker had Elvis's best interest in mind throughout his career and it was mentioned that Parker was trying to plan new exciting situations for Elvis like Aloha in Hawaii. A question still is however, why then did Parker not plan and encourage concerts in other countries out of the U.S. like Elvis wanted.... Guess I will have to read the book to find out.

Sorry Trey don't agree with you on this one I always thought that the colonel was a great promoter but a lousy manager. Assumed you didn't take 50% only 50% of the merchandise what about the 25 percent he was making off of Elvis as a so-called manager. The average commission was 10 to 15%. So he was ripping off Elvis from the very beginning do they mention that the colonel had a serious gambling problem and he needed Elvis to keep working to pay off his debts? That mentioned in the book? I doubt it. Also the colonel had to leave his home country abruptly that doesn't sound like someone saying oh I was more mature and people didn't understand me so I got on a boat I left. I don't buy that at all. I don't know if you killed someone but he certainly left abruptly. Also the colonel never spoke to his family and barely stayed in contact with him. Why was that? And if the colonel was trying to keep Elvis busy so he can stay off drugs why didn't they go overseas? I don't want to hear about Elvis's drug problem or guns because he was on prescription drugs and the Beatles were traveling with street drugs. Then I heard something like that wasn't the right venues there they were all outdoors. This is bull crap other musicians went to Europe and perform. There are plenty of venues in Europe there was definitely something the colonel was hiding. What about the time of the colonel got rid of Larry Geller and had his spiritual books burnt. That's probably way too much in his personal life. And I've read somewhere that the colonel claim he didn't know about Elvis's problems. And sunny and West I'm sorry they didn't write a book to wake Elvis up. That was a Revenge book they were pissed off at getting fired. Who in their right mind thinks writing a book making someone's problems public is a way to get to them to stop being addicted to medication? That's all hogwash I respect the colonel as a great promoter but he was a lousy manager

I used to watch your channel, but with this interview you proved that you are not really knowledgeable about Elvis, before giving such space and CREDIBILITY to a book that was written by a relative of Parker who is clearly only interested in defending him, (and of course make money with Elvis name, in fact if Elvis wasn't involved no one would be interested in reading ), when reviews on this book are negative and so many people in the years proved how much bad Parker had been for Elvis, makes YOU lose all credibility! Sorry for you fallen in this crap!
