Kurt Russell is one of the best actors, who sadly never received an Oscar. Kurt has a remarkable ability to transform himself into whomever he wants to be. This is one of his best performances.
Kurt should've . Not sure what other films he was up against. A lot more quality films were put out then. Now, a bunch a crap just hoping for a nomination. A nomination is considered a win ???? ....NOT.
@@frankg5559 I ate my own words. The words I wrote a yr ago were true a yr ago , not anymore. In this situation, someone better, named Austin Butler .... walked in. There could never be another Elvis but because of this movie, maybe now people will finally get what Elvis was about.
I'm old enough to remember - Elvis was that fast MUCH of the time. He has slower versions, but he did it this fast, too. And he was NOT smoother, when he was younger, that came with time, not age, but mellowing, just as Elvis' voice also mellowed. Kurt has done the best of anyone. Shame he got no recognition for it.
The film and Kurt was before it's time, considering how many recent biop films have been released. One actor won an Oscar for Freddie Mercury film. A pity Kurt didn't get nominated for one.
He got an Emmy nomination for this. I call that fairly big recognition (yes, he should’ve won, but he won in the eyes of the public. We don’t know who actually won that year, but here Kurt is, in the class of Hollywood icons).
I owned them on VHS and DVD long before RU-vid. I agree Kurt is over the top but here is what you are missing. The film is from 1979. The average person watching the movie then only had memories of Elvis dancing and the new audience had never seen it before. Although VCR's were about a year old in 79, the mass accessibility of Elvis performances was not the norm until the mid 80s and then not to the highest level until DVD in the 2000s. Kurt was representing the idea and spirit of Elvis.
KURT RUSSEL mejor actor impresionante ELVIS PRESLEY FOREVER GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR 💕 ❤️ ♥️ ❤❤❤❤BENDICIONES 💕 ❤️ 💖 2024 23 1 SALUDOS DE URUGUAY ♥️ 💕 🇺🇾 💙
That's Entertainment...! I am buying this DVD...! Kurt Russell makes a great Elvis...! More Elvis Movies Thanks...! Let me know when the auditions Start...!
For me Kurk Russell has his mannerisms hands down .... and Dale Midkiff is excellent and both look very much like Elvis and all 3 were and are Handsome as HELL !!! I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN ELVIS FAN ... I loved the feeling he puts into Any song ... And let me tell you EYE CANDY To the point! you just can't take your eyes off him! There are very few men I think are as handsome as these 3 men WHY? Because they are beautiful but Totally Manly ....
@@ElvisPresleyfan80 seriously you screw with my post AFTER 4 YEARS FOR this! Go away ... FAR! FAR! AWAY ... PEST ... SPELLING POLICE WHAT AN A HOLE ... IF U HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY SAY NOTHING AT ALL BAD MANNERS I SEE ... SHEESH
No one is going to be exactly like the original but Kurt's performance is 50 times better than any moron who has attempted to do Elvis in tv and movies since. At least Kurt had some of his natural mannerisms and loosness.
@@TheRealBGregz Not really. Austin was amazing but he had to study Elvis for 2 years and had the big budget treatment of a theatrical film, along with makeup and some CGI. Kurt had a natural Elvis vibe. I've seen the new movie 3 times. I'm literally responding to you as I walk out of the theater. Kurt also had a low budget made for TV movie. And how could the comment from 9 years ago age poorly? It took 9 years since that comment til this movie and from 1979 to 2022, 43 years for anyone to do well since Kurt. Of course they were both the only 2 true biopic attempts. The others all focused on certain periods
@@Price70 He didn’t “have” to study Elvis for that long, he just did that simply because the pandemic gave him the time. Kurt had the opportunity to, not only, grow up with Elvis (but he even worked with him). Secondly, makeup was also used in this movie. Lastly, there were no CGI enhancements to Austin.
@@TheRealBGregz Kurt was a little kid when he met Elvis for a few minutes on It Happened at the World's Fair, he never worked with him. And in 1978/79 there wasn't even VCRs, let alone DVDs and RU-vid. You pretty much just watched whatever the studio provided on film. When Austin is looking at BB King through the window they blend Elvis' face. Watch it again then look at his face after that. Austin looks nowhere near as much like Elvis as he did looking in the window. On the 68 special during Jailhouse Rock there are two quick glances where they use Elvis' eyes then in-between Austin's eyes, even with makeup they are different. On A Little Less Conversation it's clealy CGI, look at Austin a few moments later when they play Viva Las Vegas on the bus. Totally different. Unchained Melody, before they cut to the real Elvis, the entire moment with Austin is blended with Elvis. I'm not saying Austin's face was removed completely, but it was blended. I've been an Elvis fan since 1975, I have watched those exact moments on VHS and dvd for decades and used to stare at him on pictures and in his movies. Baz can say what he wants but anyone with common sense can see where it's only Austin and when it's both. Those who can't are newcomers or the most casual of fans.
Saw the new Elvis movie. This one doesn't even come close to this movie that Kurt Russel starred in. Applause again for Kurt. This shows that you can't just copy Elvis.
Now that i have seen the new movie with Austin Butler i have to say this sounds so stupid dont get me wrong i like Kurt Russell but that wasnt Elvis voice. they had to use Ronnie McDowell voice I have been a fan for 67 years this new movie will be the close's thing you will get to Elvis.
Kurt as Elvis still is the best movie performance/impersonation I've ever seen to this day..Austin Butler's and Shawn Klush's performances as Elvis are really good but not great as Kurt's..imo.
think you meant, take note from Baz ? and to Kurt.. TAKE NOTE FR0M AUSTIN BUTLER! (i love Kurt but no.. i can't with his Elvis.. in these kinda moments)
i seen the movie on tv and even bought the soundtrack on a cassette, they could have made the faster rock and roll songs a lot stronger, the arrangement was 5 outta 10 for excitement compared to the original.
Kurt visited vernon presley and graceland to get a feel for elvis vernon said your about the same size as elvis then gave him a jumpsuit to try and thats it in the movie
Kurt did a good job as Elvis. Thanks. I just recorded this song yesterday. I do Elvis like no one else. I sing and play bass guitar and do solos to his songs. Plus I look like him. Once I know more songs and have everything better, I think I'm good enough to be an Elvis Impersonator playing shows. My last 4 videos are doing his songs with about 40 more to come. I'm not as good as Elvis, and I just started playing after 14 years off, but I can still do this. Do you think so?
To heck with Kurt Russell. Trent Carlini is the imitator that looks most like Elvis. As far as voice, this is Ronnie McDowell, the voice doesn't get any better, that's why they used his voice for the movie. If it didn't sound exactly like Elvis, they would have used Elvis" record, it's pretty much common sense.
hes good but I feel hes too energetic and twitchy Elvis didn't twitch his shoulders so much on stage. the moves hes making are more reminiscent of Elvis when he was younger and he wasn't on the drugs so he had the energy to move like that.
