Pretty sure this was the largest audience globally in a Live performance every watched live in history at this point. Elvis Presley “Over 1 billion people watched Elvis' “Aloha From Hawaii” via Satellite on January 14, 1973.
I'm 54,I can remember in 1973 watching Elvis in Hawaii live on TV at my Great Grandmother's house! My great grandmother, great grandfather, my mom, dad, all sitting in the family room listening to Elvis Live!!! I was only 4 but I remember it like yesterday. I'm the only one in my family that's alive today. Thank you for the memories AB!!!!
I'm 51 and remember the day he died. I was around 5 and can recall with clarity my mom crying her eyes out for days! 😢 Elvis was one of a kind... a beautiful, special, and talented soul taken from us far too soon. 😢
What made Elvis so famous was a combination of a uniqe style of singing, awesome voice, his looks, his, his cool clothes, his diversety in singing (Gospel, rock, pop, country, rockabilly, semi opera), and personality.
I watched this broadcast laying on my sister’s front room floor. As amazing as his performance was, it wouldn’t have been the peak of his career. His career had several different phases. His original explosion in the 50’s changed a musical generation. He influenced so many artists, from the Beatles, Stones, and Led Zeppelin. After his time in the Army, he became a movie star. All of his movies made money throughout the 60’s. He got sick of the repetitive formula scripts they gave him, so he finally got out of his commitments. In 1968, he did a television special which became legendary. This performance was, a raw and more mature Elvis. He sent the nation a message with his passionate performance of “If I Can Dream”. In the years that followed, he became the most successful performer in Las Vegas history. He also started touring across the country. The 1973, “Aloha from Hawaii “ broadcast was seen worldwide. This was probably his last great international high point. I saw him in concert at Bloomington, IN in 1974. Still looking good, and gave a great performance. Thank you for sharing!
When Elvis sings, his powerful voice and emotional delivery create a sense of intimacy that makes it feel like he is singing directly to you. His ability to connect with the listener on a personal level is a testament to his talent and the genuine passion he brought to his performances.
I 'm 59 I can remember in 1973 watching Elvis in Hawaii live on TV sitting in the living room listening to Elvis Live!!! But I remember it like yesterday the magic of Elvis Presley will forever be in my heart. I fell in love that night when I was 10 years old And 59 years later he's still the love of my life TCB ⚡
Great reaction, Elvis was writting history again, because this was the first suterlite show of tv, that watched from over 40 countries and 1.5 billion viewers! Thats why, i asume he was not moving or dancing so much trying to be recepectfull to so many different cultures. One of his back up singers was Witney Houston mom, one Witney Huston best song lyrics I have nothing" was written from Elvis ex girlfriend Linda Tomson about Elvis and its a great song to react too. Also a great popular song from 90s :Black Velvet: by Alannah Myleswas written for Elvis , after the writer, was traveling on a bus full of Elvis fans that where going to Graceland for Elvis 10th death memorial.
I was 4 years old when this aired on tv and by then I was already an Elvis nut . I wasn't a cryer but I remember crying until my parents let me watch all of this on tv. It's strange what we remember, this was 50 years ago and I remember so so much of that night. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
If you really want to see him in his prime, anything from the 68 COME BACK SPECIAL and LIVE 70 VEGAS, both an adonis and his voice at its best. I love watching you, you're an absolute gem, a breath of fresh air. From England ❤
I remember watching this concert live in 73 the magic of Elvis Presley will forever be in my heart. I fell in love that night I was 7 years old. And 50 years later he’s still the love of my life. TCB ⚡️
My mom is an Elvis fanatic, she was a teen in the 50's. I heard Elvis in the house all the time, but I love the 70's era, heard Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii on the 8 track daily growing up.
Elvis was the man, still is! 👌 you are so right, and he's still loved worldwide. I love his voice and his music. 👍🥇⚡🎧🌍🇿🇦 Please react to Elvis singing How Great Thou Art live in 1972. He loved gospel music.
I remember watching this at my Aunt and Uncle’s cabin in Blairsville, Georgia. I was a little girl and my dad was a HUG Elvis fan. I still remember the major excitement of the entire evening!
I remember watching this. It was fire ! Any song from the Aloha From Hawaii Special are so good, was going to suggest one but I cannot just pick one- 😀 I know- looks like you have not reacted to this one and omg it is a must- (Elvis Presley - An American Trilogy (Aloha From Hawaii, Live in Honolulu, 1973)
EP. When the LEGEND of LEGENDS gets up in the morning to put his big boy pants on.... he does more than the rest of us do. /BOW This man's charisma was sick. He would be welcomed to play at any venue in the world were he alive today.
BACKGROUND on the RAMP from the STAGE: Producer/director Marty Pasetta told Parker he wanted to build a ramp for Elvis to walk out onto & Parker said no. Pasetta explained that it would be 8 ft. wide & Elvis could stay in the middle or go to the left or to the right if he wanted to (Pasetta knew how important the audience was to Elvis). Parker said no. Fortunately, Pasetta was able to meet w-Elvis & he explained exactly what he told Parker. Fortunately again, Elvis overrode Parker & told Pasetta to build the ramp. Paseta told Elvis he wanted him to lose 25 lbs., which Elvis did. Elvis then hugged Pasetta & said you are one of the few people who has been totally honest w-me. Imagine how different that concert would have been if Elvis didn't have the option to get in close contact w-his audience. HE would have been just as spectacular, but without the ramp the concert would have had a very different feel. Thx.
SO SO SPOT ON EVERY WORD YOU SAID IS ON. ELVIS ADMIRED THIS GUY AND THE SUGGESTION FOR HIM TO LOOSE 25. POUNDS IS VERY ACCURATE AND ELVIS THANKED HIM AND DID LOOSE IT. TOOOO BAD HE SHOULD HAD THAT MAN FOR MANAGER. MAYBE HIS FRIENDS SHOULD HAD THE BRAINS TO GO HOME AND LET PRISCILLA AND ELVIS PLAY HOUSE. PEOPLE JUST TOOK AND TOOK. THANK YOU FOR TRUE INFO.😊
Wynonna did this really good in Lilo and Stitch as well and its one of the reasons i love that movie cause lilo loves elvis too. plus stitch is cute and fluffy
My favorite song is *So Close Yet So Far* from his movie *Harum Scarum.* Elvis was being a bit restrained here since it was the first concert to ever be aired worldwide by satellite. This was also for a charity.
Lol i love your reactions to Elvis! You're so entertaining! Yes Elvis did Blue Hawaii! Good movie! Hawaiian Wedding Song is a big hit from that movie! Please more Elvis, i really enjoy you watching Elvis! 😅
Elvis did 3 movies in Hawaii, Blue Hawaii, Girls, Girls. Girls, and Paradise, Hawaiian Style. The last one wasn't that great. I know you reacted to "Trouble" from King Creole, but you should try "Crawfish", the title song, "King Creole", "New Orleans", "Dixieland Rock", and "Young Dreams". " Lawdy, Miss Clawdy" from the 68 Special, or anything from the black leather performances on that special. So glad you are doing Elvis again. Thanks for this one. You are adorable. ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Elvis didn't do a lot of his normal dance routines in this concert because it was being beamed by satellite around the world, and there were different standards for what could be shown on television in different countries - different standards of "decent." The concert was fire, though, and Elvis gave his best.
Elvis Presley, Ann Margaret, From The Movie 🎬 Viva Las Vegas "THE LADY LOVES ME" (4:13 min) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_fTiGRljqDk.html "C'mon Everybody" (4:01 min) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wQnZiXfzx6w.html
The movie Viva Las Vegas with Elvis and Ann-Margaret is good and fun. Blue Hawaii is the movie you're thinking about and it's good, too. It has Angela Lansbury playing his mother with a Southern accent. Blessings, AB!
I wasn't alive back then either, don't matter! Been an 'Elvis Guy' since day 1. All his concerts sold out, didn't matter where. Most people don't realize in the '70's he was touring way more than in Vegas. You mentioned his style, clothes etc. He once said 'people paid their hard earned money to see me, to see the show'. He felt very strongly about giving the absolute best concert he could in every way possible. It was one of his ways of giving back and always reminded his people that every concert must be looked at as the very first for everyone. Btw, all his stage suits were hand made, original designs and REAL. For example between everything he commissioned just to wear (stage suits and jewelry) for this concert and the rehearsal concert added up to about $100k. Back then, a brand new top tier Cadillac was $11k. Just scratching the surface 🤯. PEACE!
thanks man, I appreciate this reaction. This song was a good one, movie scenes are so much fun, especially the funny ones, like "Mean Woman Blues", from movie "Loving You", another is "Who are you, Who am I", from "Spinout", and the trailer from movie, "Fun in Acapulco" from the movie of the same name. Looking forward to it.
This concert was seen by 1.5 Billion people worldwide! Unheard of at that time! He was expected to raise $25,000 for the Kui Lea Cancer drive and he raised $75,000!
i have a request the song is called we're sure to drown (husk tale) try and find the full version youll get a better understanding of the story he is trying to tell
This is towards the end of his life. First peek was 1954 to1957 ( a revolution), and then 1968 then 1969 1970 1971 1972. This Hawaii show is after they broke his heart and he began to be more mature and slower ., LIVE via satellite to the whole world!
Actually 1968 thru 70 was peak Elvis. 1973 was in my opinion his last harah not that he didn't give other great performances but not like this or what came before. At age at 38 years old Elvis had only for 4 years left to live he died in 1977. He did a couple of movies in Hawaii, Blue Hawaii, Girls,Girls,Girls and Paradise Hawaiian Style. Elvis loved Hawaii ❤ Thanks for your humorous but Heartfelt reactions.
There is one thing in common with Elvis and other performers, like John Mellencamp. They have Black ladies, with Gospel backgrounds, singing background vocals, whose voices can belt it out like cannons!
My daughter was born on Jan 8, 1999. She was 2 weeks overdue & I had been in labor a little over 30 hours when a male nurse came in to check on me. He said wasn’t I glad I hadn’t given birth on the 7th. I looked at him like he was crazy and he said “because now your baby will be born on Elvis’s birthday”. When I said nothing, just continued looking at him, he kinda ducked his head and left the room 😂 I like Elvis well enough but nobody’s birthday was worth 34 hours of labor. I’ve really enjoyed your Elvis videos, however ♥️
Check out the song King Creole, from one of Elvis's earliest movies by the same name. I believe he did more than one movie in Hawaii. After this concert he stayed behind and recorded five extra songs for the album. One of that I like is "Early Morning Rain".
If you were a woman you'd see something else, the most handsome man who's ever lived and will ever live. A beautiful shy human being. The king is dead, long live the King ❤
This is after his peak, imo. People don’t realize the amount of drugs that were being pumped into this man. I see the beginning of the end when I see this and it makes me sad. Peak Elvis for me was his 68 comeback special. Before the addiction really grabbed him. When he had that sparkle in his eye, that true joy on his face. When he was not yet a slave to it. I say this all with love. He was damn special.
My Auntie Edna was known as the Elvis Lady of Watlham, MA. Her apt was filled with everything Elvis. Even her toilet paper stand a had swinging Elvis as well as her clock, swinging Elvis legs. When she was very sick in the hospital with pneumonia the anti biotics made her hallucinate. She dreamt she was with Elvis on their honey moon in Hawaii. When she recovered, she was so bummed out.
My mom told me that he would have to wear bandaids under his rings because fans would try to pull them off his fingers when he would reach out in the crowd.
Love your channel, your reactions and you. You're always fun to watch. Something you might enjoy now that you have heard different versions of Elvis.......back in the day there was a comedian named Andy Kaufman. ( he also acted on th tv series, TAXI) He did a funny impersonation of Elvis. There is video of him doing his Elvis routine on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. You should check it out.
This was actually towards the end of his life, he only had about 4 more years to live at this point. Prime Elvis would be everything he did before he went in the Army, imo, of course.
"Pelvis" was a term of insult by the so-called enlightened white media and political opinionators of the time. Not a word EP fans will freely use nor appreciate. He was and still is the Boss G.O.A.T 💯⚡
