One run through this clip explains why Presley remains not only the most successful solo recording artist of all time, but continues to hold fast as the single biggest SUPERSTAR the world has ever known. The reason is that no other entertainer ever had a combination with so many exquisite qualities. The looks, the voice, the charisma,..the incomparable charm. Simply The King.
There was nobody cooler and nobody smoother. Elvis could rock out with the best of them and sing ballads as well as Sinatra and Bing Crosby. Guys like Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Michael Jackson are great. All extremely talented and highly influential. But in terms of vocal ability, stage presence, versatility and charisma, I’ll take Elvis over every single one of them.
Elvis told Dean Martins daughter that her daddy was mr cool as far as he was concerned. He loved Dean Martin. He went to see Dean one day on the golf course. He rode around watching Dean play golf for a while watching Dean. Before he left Dean tokd Elvis do me a favor will you? Elvis said ok, Dean told him please don’t sing my songs. Ok? Elvis said you got it. And he never did. Dean, Sammy snd Frank were very upset when they found out Elvis had died. He had made friends with them out in Vegas. Elvis bought Sammy a black sapphire ring and gave it to him. Sammy wore it. Frank used to loan his planes to Elvis.
We won't see another Elvis... he had the look, the voice, the charisma... he had everything... he was the most beautiful creature who ever walked on earth.
If I was trapped on a deserted Island and only could pick one singer to have ,I would want Elvis to hear for the rest of my LIFE. I NEVER get tired of hearing his lovely voice.
I honestly don't think Elvis could have looked better than what he does here. Perfection in voice, performance and presentation. I think, the most handsome man that walked Gods green earth. ♡ ♡ ❤️
Elvis was at his physical peak at this stage of life, his voice, lithe, lilting, seamless, simply an exquisite sound, and as always, his impeccable ear and incredible soul for lyric interpretation setting him apart from all others. It was all so effortless for Elvis, talent exuded from every pore of him. He was the king of all musical genres. A giant in an age and industry of very gifted entertainers.
Just imagine - in 1960, the year Elvis recorded this song, and sang it on TV - if you went across the radio dial you might hear the Pop stars like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Doris Day and Dean Martin, or Country stars like Eddy Arnold, Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves and Johnny Horton, or rock/R&B stars like Ray Charles, Roy Orbison, Connie Francis, Jackie Wilson and the Everly Brothers. If you have half a dozen decades under your belt - like me - or are a young person well versed on the music of this era, you can easily come up with as many names as I've listed. That was a golden era for singers.
I positively adore and love everything you've stated about Elvis. I've loved him all of my life. I just wanted to ask, would you mind that I post this on my song choice today "Fame and Fortune" to caption the post? Many words have been attributed to him but yours really stand out for me. It's the way I feel about him, also. His whole essence; just complete awesomeness.
I went to his concert in Chicago in the early 70s, I was around 22, everyone was screaming, at first I thought they were crazy, but then we were screaming too, you couldn't help it, the vibes in that auditorium, just crazy, we were so high up we couldn't see him, we didn't care, what an experience!
I was at that concert and it was unbelievable, So many flashes like strobe lights. All he had to do was walk around on stage and do nothing, Would have liked him to sing more of his 50's hits but he had to move on.
Love this song!! Now I know what it feels like to be addicted!! Because that's how I feel when I listen to Elvis Presley. I wasn't even born when he passed but for some reason I can't stop listening to him. His voice is so soothing and dreamy. All those people that got to see him live, so lucky.
OMG!!!! girls .can you imagine, ELVIS walking into ANY room, with that suit on. Singing & grooving, what would we be ABLE TO DO!!!!!....drool..melt..float..& just ADORE his presence....
there will never be another one like him ! never ! he had it all.. the talent, the looks, the charm, the charisma, .. and he will always be the sexiest man that ever walked the earth ! ❤
2022 and Elvis still has it. When he smiles you smile. When he sings you feel like he's singing to you, from his heart to your heart. Reaching out through time and space to spread joy. He transcends time and space. He'll be touching people's hearts and souls eternally. We'll always love you Elvis ❣️
sweden1992 Are you sure? Because if you were then you would be living the last quarter of your life, as I am. I was actually born in 1950 and grew up in the Rock n' Roll era and all of the great artists like Elvis, Roy Orbison, Tom Jones, Buddy Holly who was a big influence on the BEATLES that I actually got to see as well as the Sones and many, many others. And of course the great group from your country, the wonderful ABBA. But of course if ever you wish to swap ages with me, let me know. lol
Sweden, I have to agree with Jakartaman. You're better off being young today - with the communications technology we have today. Just about every song which was any kind of a hit is on the Internet - and RU-vid in particular. You can listen to any singer or song you want, and still - hopefully - enjoy many more decades with your young friend.
...First time I ever saw Elvis in movies I knew I was no longer the best looking man that ever lived. .. ...OK..just kidding!!!!!...Vanity doesnt run in my veins...but a sense of humor does!...How can one man have such raw talent, incredible good looks, and charm and still be human?!?!.. Im straight but Elvis is simply the sexiest man I have ever seen, anywhere...and I've been around...and even today his voice, his music and his sheer stage PRESENCE have never been equaled nor can I even imagine that it will. Amazingly incredible human being.
I never ever tire of watching him in this clip. Nor do I tire of listening to this song, his vocals, the music and the back up singers make it exquisite beyond compare. ❤
I have no doubt baby you will always be the greatest ❤ intertainer of history and the best ♥ looking guy I've ever seen! Of course I'm still in love with you!
wow! for this being a live performance it's still palpable 50+ years on a computer screen. this is just awesome! thanks for posting this rarity of a elvis treasure!
"Fame And Fortune" Fame and fortune how empty they can be But when I hold you in my arms That's heaven to me Who cares for fame and fortune They're only passing things But the touch of your lips on mine Makes me feel like a king Your kind of love is a treasure I hold It's so much greater than silver or gold I know that I have nothing If you should go away But to know that you love me Brings fame and fortune my way
Elvis at his absolute best! I want one of those Timex watches with all of those functions. About the only thing it doesn't do is make you a cup of coffee. Lol.
I agree with you, gautden. Elvis is easily the most versatile artist of our time. He had hits with rock, ballads, country, blues and even light classical such as "It's Now Or Never" and "Surrender". To my knowledge, no other artist has achieved that.
Looks talent stage presence were and still are the best, ever. The Kings voice was and still is THEE voice of which all others are judged. Period. When they were younger Whitney Houston and Frank Sinatra were up there. But, that's like comparing a Toyota Supra to a Ferrari.
@Blue Bird it was Both, he was doing his usual querks 🥰 BUT when his eyes pan up really fast is what he was talking about. Thats cause elvis worked the Mic in those early years. He places his head close and pulls out during ballads. He wasn't able to do that here. So he would make sure where the mic was and lift and lower his head. If you watch him or listen to his early ballads he would pull the mic close and then pull away to fade out the sound. He was brilliant!
This was Elvis at his vocal peak, in my opinion. He could do absolutely anything with his voice. This was his only live appearance in the early 1960s that's been recorded for posterity. From 1960 to 1968 all we got were the movies.
