If you like, listen to Iain Matthews' version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LqaBneLE8wY.html a yr. before Elvis -- quite bland, lacking the emotion that Elvis gave to his songs.
Even as a child I was very aware that Elvis was a master at intonation and emoting - singing so softly and then wailing and everything inbetween. Some artists with great voices seem to favor belting it out for the entire song.
So true about belting it out for the entire song; to me that almost makes it seem like those singers are forcing themselves, whereas Elvis displayed the soft, quiet side then in a matter of a second gave his power punch only to go soft again. What a difference!
Just awesome l much prefer to watch him live he was just perfection his voice was beautiful thank you l haven't known this song long but l can't any one else singing it Elvis made every song his thank you 😊
Info found -- Written by Alan Blaikley and Ken Howard (under the pen name 'Steve Barlby') for Iain Matthews, originally recorded in 1969 & released on Matthews' first solo album after leaving Fairport Convention: Matthews' Southern Comfort -- Iain Matthews version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LqaBneLE8wY.html so very different than Elvis -- it's quite a bland version, not the emotion & power Elvis always sang with.
Oohh LIVE is so much better, love to watch that man perform. He has such a beautiful vibrato ❤ I'd would definitely be one of those screaming women in the audience 😅 Awesome reaction Rory love your reactions! Thank You for the person in the comments for this beautiful request!! 😊💓🌹🤘✌️
“I’ve Lost You,” was written by Ken Howard and Alan Blakely, a journeyman British pop team, brought in by long-time song plugger Freddy Bienstock, who by now had a host of English publishing interests of his own. The song served to extend Elvis’ new adult image (husband, lover, father, with a range of concerns that accompanied each of those roles).
This was great to have both the studio and live version. He sang a few more lines in the studio. I love his live stuff better, too. Amazing how he sings just as well or better when he is moving around and cutting up. Thank you so much. I love your Elvis reactions.🎉❤
Sorry i have to disagree; he had an amazing '68, a great '69 (Vegas unfortunately not professionally filmed), a fantastic '70, especially w-his glass shattering finish to "Tomorrow Never Comes" -- '72 was also terrific - Greensboro, NC, Hampton Roads, San Antonio
@@clboelcke IMO his best album. I hope he see’s this. If I knew of a way to knock my head just right to forget all of EPS catalogue so I can experience that again I think I would. 🤣👑✌️
I grew up only hearing his movie songs, and radio, and record recordings. Nothing beats watching him perform any song live! Never heard the other versions you mentioned. I’m sure they were done with much more advanced technology. You also have to consider what different influences have guided later artists. Compare an Elvis performance from the middle to late 1950’s, to any songs from 30-40 years earlier..laughable! Guess who they will still be talking about in another 40 years?
I know this song so well, but it still gives me goosebumps. How is this possible!? Love it! Thank you so much for playing so much Elvis! You are giving us always great reactions!💚🌞
Not positive about this but i remember emailing a suggestion to you in January mentioning to use this particular link because there is another version where the little sound of the electric equipment going off was deleted & so his surprised expression wouldn't make sense. Thanks so much.
SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!! Beautiful track, Elvis's music and videos are going to be here forever just like Queen and the Beatles!! Have you reacted to Neil Diamond? Another powerhouse singer. Awesome reaction Rory, i love your reactions!! And thank you for the person in the comments that requested this. 😊💓🌹🤘✌️
Hi Rory, I know why you are familiar with this beautiful song by Elvis. You react to the live version 6 month ago😃It´s an Elvis song, no cover. Thank you again for your awesome reaction, man👌

Elvis gave it the full passion & emotion that only Elvis could do better than anyone.
Great reaction to another song by Elvis. The song was originally written by Alan Blaikley and Ken Howard and released by Iain Matthews in 1969. Elvis's version was released in July, 1970 and was certified gold. Personally, I way prefer Elvis's version. Iain's version is here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O0LUD6yQW8M.html
One of the few Elvis songs the studio version was actually better - this, patch it up, Just Pretend and Funny How Times Slips Away are the only 4 I can think off.
