From New Zealand...Elvis was a Genius, everyone should listen to this song, and American Trilogy...God Bless ALL Americans - the "warmer sun" is coming...dare to dream!..."If I can dream of a better land, where ALL my brothers walk hand in hand..." Pure GENIUS in 1968!
Stop the hate. That's what this man was saying in 68. What the world needs today. Don't it make you just wanna hug each other. The world needs Elvis today.
JE SUIS SUPER HEUREUSE, D'AVOIR FRANCHIT LE RUBICON.. ET VOUS AVOIR FAIT DÉCOUVRIR LA VRAIE PERSONNALITÉ D'ELVIS PRESLEY . MERCI A TOUS ET À TOUTES GROSSES BISES POUR LA NOUVELLE ANNÉE
This was the last time he performed this song live. They say right afterwards they found him in a fetal position crying. The red scarf represented for all those that died in Vietnam. Then he sang this in memory of MLK and Bobbie Kennedy. He song from the heart.
you have many good male singers .... but elvis is rightly the king. has fantastic voice, enormous charisma, style, really sings from his heart, i grew up with it thanks to my pa .elvis music was on almost daily .... i spoke in the now ... because for me elvis Presley still lives on ... he is the king and he always will ...
I was a child when Elvis died. I grew up listening to his music. songs like this one made me cry before I even understood why. His singing has so much emotion. Love him
"If I Can Dream" , written by Walter Earl Brown most notable for its direct quotations of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech. The song was published by Elvis Presley's music publishing company Gladys Music, Inc. It was recorded by Presley in June 1968, just two months after King's assassination. The recording was first released to the public as the finale of Presley's '68 Comeback Special. Brown was asked to write a song to replace "I'll Be Home for Christmas" as the grand finale on NBC's "Elvis", 1968 . Knowing about Presley’s fondness for Martin Luther King Jr., and about his devastation related to his then-recent assassination, he wrote "If I Can Dream" with Presley in mind.
The people who were involved with this performance said that he curled up in the fetal position as soon as the song was over. He was absolutely amazing. There will never be another Elvis.
His backup singers cried after this performance, too. When asked why, one of them said "I've never seen him sing like that before. He means every word." He did mean it, too. You can hear it in his voice.
God bless you, Sister. When Elvis felt like he was singing for the Lord, it was no holds barred. He let it out. We all feel the spirit a little when he sang like this. I enjoyed this and your reactions. Thank you
sure bring tear lady he was the greatest man he sang with all heart and passion and feeling not many singer do that he was one of kind man kind respectful ill glad you like it not many young are not listen to this they given a try thank you for playing it
He is very handsome. The older I get the better he looks lol. If you haven't listen to his gospel music. That will get you emotional. Also the song "you gave me a mountain this time" if you haven't heard it yet. Happy Mother's Day
This wasn't just a song to him. He meant every word. And we all need to heed those words. Thanks for the video. I am fortunate enough to have seen him 2x in concert.
The brilliance of the voice, performance and the song notwithstanding, ya gotta admit......the white double breasted suit with the wide collar, red tie, and matching shoes...………….smoking!!
I love this man, he has done so much for humanity, that is why they call him the King. There were two kings that came from Memphis, both were sent by Jesus.
I remember when this was aired on NBC, I was glued to the tv watching him, it was December of 1968 I was 8 years old. I have loved Elvis since I was 6, wish you could have experienced him in concert, you could feel the love and believe me once you saw him in concert you were never the same. Love you Elvis and miss you deeply.
I'm 52 yrs old. I have been an Elvis fan for as long as I can remember. I was 9 when Elvis passed. It was my first "where were you when..." or "what were you doing when..." moment in my life. I've watched almost every Elvis reaction videos and have choked up on some just from remembering when I've first heard the song. This is from the '68 Comeback Special. I was born in 1968. Watching your reaction was the first time I actually had tears flowing. Elvis never had an original song. But he could take a song and make it his own. Even Simon Garfunkel watched Elvis do Bridge Over Troubled Water and walked out saying "How do you compete with that." You have got to check out Impossible Dream from Luve from Madison Square Garden and there's so many more that Elvis pushes to the sound range.
Elvis Presley as a teenager use to sing in the choir in a black Baptist church in Tennessee this is why he sang like he did his beautiful heart to the black people is unbelievable all his black backup singer's he bought them houses his cook at graceland was a black women called mary he bought her s house he was great friends at the start of his career with black singers like Al Green and Little Richard so you can see he loved every one
This is Elvis's most emotional and deepest performance ever! Look at how he is shaking and his facial expressions are priceless. Love this song by him! Great reaction to this!
And the amazing thing is that elvis's voice was a chameleon voice, always changing. And his career was very brief. He was soul depth and diversity personified. An icon, the likes of which may never be seen again.
I just found you and every time I’ve watched your soul touched by Elvis, it makes my heart happy. You are a precious person Bre. And YES, Elvis was and still is beautiful. 🤟🏼🤍
Elvis could, and can touch the soul and open the heart and mind of the nastiest, ugliest souls out there. He was a wonderful man.I am actually begging you to listen to his song Walk a mile in my shoes. You won't be through us,we keep this wonderful man alive for future generations.
God Bless you for sharing your love for the King with us. Elvis Presley grew up very poor and knew first hand about hardship. He loved all souls and was especially heartbroken when his friend Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated. This amazing song is his tribute to MLK as well as a call to all people to stand together in peace and love. 💙🙏
God bless you for showing this and RIP Elvis. He was always concerned that after he died, if people would remember him. Hope he can see all these new generations enjoying his music. He was truly a unique soul.
Yeah if they could enjoy him now but they can all they got to do is just click a couple buttons and they can see the king at his best the king I always regarded him as one of the best singers and the last of the troubadours with his style of singing so so so exciting all of these things balled up in the one spectacular performance every time he performs
My favorite Elvis song. I cry every time I watch this. If you pause the video in the middle of the song you can see his pain and looks like he wants to cry. I heard* that he did cry backstage after this song. It was the last song performed in his '68 come back performance. His manager wanted him to sing another song but he declined and sang this. This song is just as relevant today as it was then. Blessings
Elvis considered african americans as his brothers and sisters, and he helped alot of poor black children during the years and even went to black churches ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bZONclwpXR4.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eBVGMjbLZb4.html . he even lived with one during the segregation in america. bless elvis
His '68 Comeback Special. I was 11 watching this, he had that suit made special for the show.....If this makes you cry..............In the Ghetto will have you balling your eyes out.
We have different opinions obviously, but many and I mean many people young and old believe Elvis voice was the greatest, because he could sing at many different octaves.
Elvis doing this song gives me the chills everytime. Amazing voice , amazing performer and amazing song. Glad to see the younger generation discovering Elvis and seeing why is was adored by millions of people.
What a movie and emotional reaction. There is something about this performance that I can never get tired of. It's Always fresh to me and it always gives me goosebumps and makes my allergies act up and you doubled down on it somehow. Yeah, that was a great reaction.
One of Elvis best friends, Jerry Schilling was with Elvis at Graceland when MLK was shot just a few miles away at the Lorraine Motel.. Elvis wept like a baby when he saw the news.. This song was recorded just a couple months later... I know Elvis was thinking of MLK while singing this song.. Getting chills right now just thinking about it..Thanks for sharing!
Love your reaction. This comes straight from his soul. Unbelievable. It's a song that still resonates in the world today. Also her in the Netherlands. The strength of the lyrics, his voice, his sincerity and his engagement still hits me and must hit us all. No matter what colour or what religion. It's about us. I think this is his best song. Stay strong!
"OH HE IS FINE!" lololol I have a framed artsy photo of Elvis on my wall...I claim it's art, and it is, but it's also just me--born years after he died--fangirling over his hotness haha
