Elvis is such a class act, always polite and humble and he has a wonderful sense of humor.

That's a good point you two made about his response to not "criticize another performer". Another legend, Little Richard, gave a little-known interview with Rolling Stone reporter once where he talked a lot of respect for Elvis as a musical-peer, but one of the things I remember him specifically saying was he respected Elvis for never talking bad about other performers to the Press - "Elvis never put anybody down". Throughout the years Elvis repeatedly told members of the press he thought "...There is plenty of room for everybody here".... Meaning he was happy to see other artists out there getting their praise and piece of the pie also. Always thought that attitude said so much about EP.

He was once asked by a reporter "how do you feel when your fans destroy your stuff cause they adore you?". He replies "well they bought it for me, without them I'd have nothing". I remember thinking what a beautiful, humble attitude. 🥃😂

In the 50s Elvis got his harshest criticism from the north, especially from Jack Gould, NYC journalist and critic who wrote commentary about television. So Elvis was real hesitant to play the Garden. NYC was infamous for being hard on incomer performers and Elvis knew that the rock scene had changed since he started out and he was afraid that they would look down on him for the kind of music/show that he did. As it turned out, however, NYC embraced Elvis as its own. He became the 1st performer to sell out the Garden in 4 back to back shows. Yes, he was an outsider, but in that one three-day run he EARNED a seat forever in NY’s pantheon of heroes.

Elvis never went out of the United States and he's still the highest grossing solo artist of all time. Let that sink in. Iconic.

Elvis loved the business but he loved the fans more. He remembered where he came from. And he remembered who it was that made him who he was.

This was my favorite Elvis reaction so far. The comment about his fashion was on point more than you know because a few years ago (in the last five) the biggest inspiration for the biggest names in that industry for their shows in Paris was Elvis which show he really would have had success with his own line. What I found the most admirable, especially given the era was that his opinion on the controversy was that he didn't have one or was keeping it to himself which is more intelligent than anyone of that day or this who offers their opinion on any subject whether or not they think it & saying that it's not his place to speak on subjects like war or women's lib. Also, can you imagine a big name like Elvis saying he's not going to criticize a fellow artist? I wish it were true he was still alive so he could start a trend of not criticizing each other!

Thanks so much, Monika! We get so many messages about how we help those who are suffering with depression, loneliness, etc., so that keeps us going. Postpartum is actually going great for me! I was just running off of little sleep this day😅. We pushed the Elvis marathon back to this Monday because we're dealing with technical difficulties at the moment. Your comment really made my day for some reason! Sending love right back to you.❤

@The Demouchets- Elvis manager was Colonel Tom Parker and he was a complete control freak. Thats why Elvis never did tour outside the U.S. He really did though want to tour outside the states.

His manager Tom Parker was an illegal alien from Holland. Nobody knew that at the time that’s the reason he didn’t allow Elvis to leave United States. Parker didn’t have a US passport so if he left the country he wasn’t sure he’d be able to get back in to America. Really sad thinking Elvis never toured the world.

Unfortunately, it's a bit chopped up, It's not all together. There's a lot missing. The early 70s really not the best time for the media not compared to today. Considering he never left America for people to think of him as the greatest of all time, he must've put in something!
