In 1956 I was 16 years old Elvis changed music made rock and roll come alive I am 81 years old today I am still a Elvis fan. God gave us Elvis to make us feel good.
Without Elvis, there wouldnt have been the Beatles, and without the beatles there wouldnt have been anything. We would still be listening to 12bar blues.
I think it’s important to remember that the limitations of the existent equipment of 1956 simply wouldn’t capture the depth of the lived audible experience at the time. Elvis truly rocked the world. Those of us who weren’t there can’t really grasp it. Once upon a time in the mid to late 1990s, when I was not much older than Elvis was in this video, I worked with an older lady with whom I, for some reason, embarked upon a conversation about Elvis. She told me that when she was a young teenager she’d gone to a fair to the see the musical acts, as one did at the time in the South. She couldn’t remember who she’d actually intended to see that day because a handsome young man with a funny name had been the opening act. That was of course was a young, barely famous, Elvis Presley. She herself had never heard of him but from the moment he took the stage she was a fan. After Elvis, she said, it didn’t matter who else performed. It’s been a long time since that conversation and I forget some of the exact details, but she used one phrase that is burned on my memory. Seeing a young Elvis Presley perform live, she said, “It was like somebody spilled lightening on that stage”.
My grandmother told me a story when I was little about the time Elvis came to Texarkana. She lived there at the time, still lives there too! Texarkana sits right on hwy 67, colloquially known as Rock ‘n’ Roll Highway. He was still doing “small” shows in local theaters. She didn’t really know much about him but her friend was really excited about it and invited her to go. She said the show was really exciting and that her friend even got to go back stage and “kiss” Elvis. Now that I’m a little older, I know what she meant lol 😂
The more I see this the more I realize how many singers the world over tried to imitate him and copied his songs. No one will ever replace the King, the legend.❤
I am a new fan too,I was born 1983,at that time I don’t even know him when I grow up.I used to ask my parents but they are not a fan.Thank you for whoever that make a movie about him,so younger generation can easily understand his life, his song and his legendary.
I love when he laughs at the screams from his dancing.. he was probably thinking this is rediculous that they’re going so wild over these movements. He certainly knew how to work a crowd!
@@kerrijacobi Elvis always seemed shy and sometimes not sure of what he was doing exactly in the music field . But I personally think that every move he made was calculated and he knew exactly what he was doing because he was a musical genius and a true stylist. He knew he was inventing rock and roll. The man was a genius. And the best singer I ever heard.
My Mom loved this guy but I didn’t get it. I sure do now! You can try and compare Elvis Presley to anyone today and he beats them all in pure raw talent, charisma and personality. Damn!
I too had parents that loved Elvis and for a time when I was young I would sing Elvis songs with my father but along the way I got into modern music which at the time I thought was great, it wasn't until I got older that I realized the gift that Elvis gave to us all, I now treasure the times my father and I would play Elvis records and sing them together R.I.P. Elvis and R.I.P. to My father Gary W Moulthrop. SR. I love you forever dad
He had it all man! No one could even come close to what Elvis did. God gave him to us then took him back too soon. Sad but grateful to have known who he was and experience what he gave us. Long live the King of Rock and Roll!
@@gtamediaproductions1 the only thing he had was skin color. Lol all his songs are ripoffs of black artist who were better. Elvis is simply a product of his era. A product of racism. Sure the girls liked him and the guys thought he was cool, but he was a gimmick. He was a tool to bring black music to white America. Just the facts.
I’m 70 yr old guy and so Elvis was a big part of my music . Not to mention his movies. It always amazed me though how the girls just screamed so much that you couldn’t hardly hear him on stage. In all his career his voice never failed him and was so smooth. We miss you Elvis. They all try to act like they are as big a star as you were ,but no one comes close !
Every time I see him at this age, I think how very young he was to have that insane fame so instantly. He was gorgeous, famous and wealthy over night, and a level of fame no one had ever known. Yet, he was still so kind and respectful and genuine. He was one of a kind in so many ways.
His popularity wasn't really "instant." In 1956, he spent the entire year crisscrossing the country in every state but HI and AK doing nearly 200 concerts.
@@LoanShoppingExpert It is insane how many concerts he did in 1954 already. Indeed, this was a hard-working boy and his success didn't come overnight but only with hard work.
There never was and never will be another like Elvis Presley anywhere in this world! Is face, his smile, his body, his sound. He was like a gift from another universe!!
How incredibly lucky we are to have this footage. Seeing him chuckle and so completely enjoy himself is balm for the soul in this era of social media fakeness and curated presentations. He truly was one of a kind.
One of the coolest things about these TV performances...is how much fun Elvis is having. He really enjoys the performing and the raucous audiences and the little bit of chaos. It's really lovely to watch.
IF THERE ARE BETTER SINGERS THAN ELVIS, HOW COME AS A SOLO PERFORMER HE ALONE HAS SOLD MORE THAN ONE BILLION RECORDS WORLD WIDE, HOW COME HE REVOLUTIONIZED SO MUCH NOT ONLY THE AMERICAN CULTURE, BUT BECAME A WORLD WIDE PHENOMENON , HOW COME HE IS THE SOLO ARTIST WITH THE MOST NUMBER ONES, TOP TENS AND TOP FORTIES. IN CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA EVEN THE NATIVE INDIANS STILL KNOW WHO ELVIS PRESLEY WAS. HEARING THE TESTIMONIES OF SO MANY GREAT ARTISTS LIKE THE BEATLES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, ETC.., THEY BECAME WHAT THEY ARE BECAUSE OF ELVIS. BACK THEN IN THE MID FIFTIES YOU HAD TO REALLY SWEAT TO BECOME SOMEBODY. TV WAS NOT AS MODERN AS THEY ARE NOW, HE HAD TO ROCK AND ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S. AND MADE HIS MUSIC MORE THAN A FAD, IT BECAME NOT ONLY AND AMERICAN TRADITION BUT A WORLDWIDE TRADITION. STILL THE MAGAZINE ROLLING STONES CONSIDER ELVIS ONE OF THE TOP FIVE BEST VOICES. HE IS THE ONLY ARTIST IN THE ROCK AND ROLL, COUNTRY, GOSPEL, R&B HALL OF FAME. HE BECAME THE POINT OF REFERENCE FOR ANY ARTIST. HOW COME AFTER SO MANY YEARS THEY STILL CALL HIM THE KING OF ROCK AND ROLL OR THE KING OF LAS VEGAS? WITH ALL DUE RESPECT PEOPLE THAT TALK ABOUT ELVIS THAT WAY SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH.
What’s remarkable isn’t just the performance and his talent and getting hit records so young , it’s that he improved with age, right up until his health declined. They’ll never be anyone like him again. He’s the King
I'm 37, watched the Elvis movie and was blown away sobbing like a baby, I'm starting to sob now just remembering how just great someone can actually be and touch so many hearts including mine and 30 something years later I'm watching every RU-vid clip I can about the man... His last performance, like all, he sang with all his heart... As he always did....r.i.p. king 👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑 😭❤️
Same with me became a fan after the film. Have ready 15 books on him and watched all his movies, docs and interviews of and with him, his performances and concerts, listen to his music. So obsessed now
Same here. I'm 34 and always associated Elvis with Vegas. Didn't really know much more about him besides that. The movie made me fan of him. He was much more than just a Vegas entertainer. I feel bad for him and how his life ended. Smh. 😢
I grew up watching some of his movies but had no idea that he made 31. I'm spending the month watching a movie a day. So far I've watched 20. My favorites so far: King Creole Loving You The Trouble with Girls It Happened at the World's Fair Kurt Russell is the kid that kicks Elvis.
@@SilverGram I've watched all of his films 2-3x now. Aside from your pics my favorites are Jailhouse Rock, Flaming Star, Wild in the Country, Kid Galahad, Roustabout, Fun in Acapulco, Charro, Live A Little Love A Little, and Girls Girls Girls
Am a fan for 65 yrs - watching Elvis movies always makes me feel that I am also there in his scenes. And when it ends I am sad - it could go on forever. What a handsome charming man!
@@octavius8562 reproducing can be just as important as creating!!! Many of these people who wrote these great songs would not be known if Elvis hadn’t made them hits!!
He did it without any special effects, lighting, pre-recorded sound or dancing girls. Just Elvis, a microphone and a couple of backup singers. That takes huge talent.
Moore is incredible and one of the best. However, the first lead guitarist for this genre would be Danny Cedrone. 1951 - Rocket 88. 1954 - Rock Around The Clock. Give credit where credit is due.
Big fan of Scotty Moore - BUT MUST NOT dismiss Carl Perkins, Roland Janes (Jerry Lee), Eddie Cochran, Paul Burlison (Johnny Burnette's Rock'nRoll Trio, Cliff Gallup (Gene Vincent's Blue Caps - All '54-57, classic guitarists
The fact Elvis was just 'having a laugh' through this performance, makes the whole experience feel that much greater. You can see in the crowd, not the fans but the 'grown ups / authorities etc, they seem to all get it too (from their smiles etc). That 'don't take it to seriously' vibe, that Elvis eludes during his early performance :)
The 'authorities' were there to bust Elvis if he shook his pelvis too provocatively.... lewd in the 50's. Bit of a long way we've come to get to WAP.... key-ripes. cheers
@@wreckcelsior Ironically, given the strong exualisation of the young today (and society generally) and the slip in IQ/education. They might have had something with that whiole Lewd thing (leading to a decent). The jury is still out though ...which type of society is better :)
It's so strange how out of probably hundreds of thousands of guitar players singing on stage Elvis still looks like the best, as if he was born to be doing that on stage!!
This is the only film with a synchronized recorded sound of Elvis in the fifties singing outside to an overwhelmed audience. It must be one of the best moments in music history.
The thing that got me about his early, more rockabilly sound, days when live, was how hilarious he and the guys found it. And the way he found it so funny when the waves of screams ran through the girls when he'd do a wiggle. Absolutely solid little band.
Elvis youthful energy here in 1950s was certainly remarkable, but he still had it in the subsequent decades. The TV live show in 1968 was his next breakthrough career moment when he explored his music more artistically, plus the Vegas & Hawaii concerts in the 1970s made him the King. He always got it.
Look at how much joy he brings! It’s incredible how charismatic Elvis is at such a young age and I love how amused he is - enjoying this so much and laughing while he sings. Every single thing about Elvis is pure magic
Why exactly why he considered obscene? Excuse my ignorance, but being a child of the 70s, I couldn't understand why Elvis' gyrations were controversial.
I have been told so by many people in all my life who enjoyed watching him perform on stage, he was pure electric by look and his voice was like honey dipping from honeycomb naturally
He so calmly said hi to that girl that hopped on stage. Oh ye Gods, he was EVERYTHING! And the memory that girl had of jumping on stage right up next to Elvis *swoon* and the telling of that moment, man!
Elvis’s voice from the 1954 to 1977 was so clean pure power. Elvis always worked hard to be the best, Here we see him getting into finding his style with a strong use of vibrato. His dance moves are like poetry in motion...
@igorputin2499that is such a bad take, he has one of the greatest voices to ever grace the planet. His performances shook the world due to his stage presence and talent
@igorputin2499Elvis started it all, the worlds first Superstar. Where do you think MJ and everybody else got their moves? Watch "Elvis and the black community- that ecco will never die"
I was blessed as well to see him perform live in 1976 &77. Wow. This little girl fell in love!! Amazing voice, charisma ,presence like no other! The first one was outstanding second he was very sick. I remember the first -he became My first love ❤️
Yes indeed!! I saw him in 76 and 77. The first time was wonderful! I fell in love even as a little girl of 12! He was amazing. I hope to see him in Heaven!
@@ShelovesJesusandElvis I get that! I fell in love with ELVIS before the Elvis Movie ended! And went back 9 more times to see ELVIS! SENSATIONAL! 🥰fr Australia
🔥 Get ready to be blown away, everyone! Just experienced the legendary Elvis in 1956, and let me tell you, it was like a seismic eruption of pure rock and roll energy! The way he dominated that stage and ignited the crowd was nothing short of mesmerizing. Elvis fearlessly broke the rules, fusing different styles into a musical revolution that still reverberates today. His impact on the world of music is immeasurable. Let's keep the spirit of the King alive and rocking for generations to come! 🕺🎸💥
I really feel bad that the kids today have no idea what true adulation was...Elvis absolutely oozed it. He sounded just as good up there as he did in the studio. He needed no artificial equipment.
you are absolutely right he did it all and needed none of the voice enhancers they have today, all natural. Thats why HE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE KING OF ROCK N ROLL
@@alecgurney9305 I’m 13 and I love music from people like Elvis and Freddie Mercury because they’re more authentic and I like the older music styles. The only downside of being a fan of these types of groups is that I can’t possibly see them in concert so I’ll never truly know what they were like live.
I have to hand it to the person who edited this video. Excellent job. The best treatment yet. All the tracks in perfect sync. The original vocals to the original video. Only Hollywood can do better. Excellent. It's as close as you can get to being there.
Great footage of the King of rock and roll. The Presley's were treated like royalty when Elvis returned to his hometown. They honored Elvis with a parade and rolled out the red carpet for Elvis, his Mother and Father. The Presley's were never looked down on again. EP is still the best entertainer of all time.
No man living nor dead could be as handsome and totally lovable as he- there were grandmothers in the crowd standing and clapping- his enigma transcended generations as natural as water flows. .he was truly kissed by the sun. .🌞
All good mama............... You should be movin' n groovin to the king of Rock N' Roll!!! He's the best and there's NOBODY that will replace or better than Him!
These must've been difficult performances for Elvis and the band, these were times before in-ear monitors, meaning the band couldn't hear each other over the loud screams of women. You can see Elvis closing one ear to make sure he's on key and on tempo with the band. Still knocked it out of the park. Elvis has been and will forever be in my top 5 artists of all time!
It’s so sweet how he gets shy when the girl invades the stage! It’s possible to see that when he looks more to his band then to the audience. But it’s also amazing the way those choir guys look at him, he just magnetized everyone
Such gigantic natural talent and so effortless! Vocals and everything, right there. No voice enhancement electronics needed or available in 1956. Amazing! כל הכבוד,אלביס
For the times it must have been extrodinary as he was the first mega star in the history of man kind, never before had the world seen anything like the great Elvis Aron Presley
How amazing that this footage was not only found pretty much fully intact but it was generously released for the benefit of the whole world to witness and experience the young Elvis performing in 1956 - PRICELESS!!!
Elvis was the greatest entertainer that ever lived. It is great to see him in fine form. His mother actually made the nice shirt that he is wearing. RIP my brother and we will see you down the road. TCB
You don't know what you just did. I had a BIG SMILE on my face the entire time I watched that black & white film. Thank you, thank you very much! Born too late: Loved Elvis. Always will.
Thank you to the Elvis fan who uploaded this wonderfully entertaining video. I wasn't around in the fifties, but I enjoyed all the great music he created in the 60s and 70s. Elvis had a beautiful soul and a heart of gold and was taken away from us far too soon. Rest in peace, Mr. Presley.
THAT WAS HISTORY IN THE MAKING/ IT WAS GREAT EVEN WITH THE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE THEN. NOTICE THE "SPEAKERS" HIS STAGE PRESCENCE PLUS THE VOICE WAS ALL THAT REALLY WAS NEEDED. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS TREASURE!
You could tell he enjoyed doing what he did pleasing his fans. ELVIS PRESLEY was very rare talented a unique a strange a had a way to pull you in to his world of music and intertainment he was very differenta real shinning star.
These people were watching Elvis make history. He was so extraordinary, there’s never been anything like it. The first entertainer to experience this reaction from an audience. How wild. What A MAN he was. As a woman, you can’t help but think of all the things you’d do to him privately❤️
Women screamed, went wild, and feinted at performances by the violinist Niccolo Paganini in the early 1800s and at performances by the pianist Franz Liszt a few decades after Paganini. Liszt's fame was enormous. He packed concert halls across Europe and people, especially women, went wild. Many people wrote about it at the time criticizing both Liszt and his female admirers for behaving inappropriately. They even coined the term "Lisztmania" to describe the phenomenon. The same phrase would be used a century later to describe the same phenomenon with Beatlemania. People don't really change. I bet you could go back 20,000 years and find some caveman whose singing made the cave ladies swoon.
Timeless performer, he had everything the voice, the looks, the charisma like nobody else before or after. I wish I could get a time machine and witness this.
Thanks to the Young 17 year old DJ Kid who recorded This Audio on his Radio Stations Reel to Reel ......... Even though Col. Parker told him he couldnt.
He was also watching that security person after that.. Yes he didn't wanna get swamped, but he also didn't like when security was to harsh with the fans...
He knew he had it, he ran with it , he was something, I love his youthful joy , can’t help adoring this rare perfection of a human , a gift to the world ❤❤❤❤
