I am sure the Comeback special 68 overtook its time kinda for 25-30 years. The songs were as if like old, but performance was done like in 90-ies.

I think Elvis was always trying to do different live, as said himself in the 50's, that's why he danced, he gooffed around and did different versions of the songs. And when we have a good quality live recording is always better to listen then the studio version.

Always loved this concert. Not only was Elvis at the top of his game, but this format really suited him. You can see how much fun he is having sitting in-the-round with his friends, just like playing to each other in their livingroom. The casual atmosphere really lets Elvis bring out the best in himself.

I saw Elvis in concert in here in Alabama the 70’s. Oh my goodness!!!! One of the best concerts I have ever seen. My boyfriend sat between me and his sister and we nearly beat him half to death waving our arms! LOL! My Mama was there with binoculars just to see that gorgeous face! It never crossed my mind that he was Mama’s age…. That man was one the most handsome men ever born and soooooo talented! So fortunate to have seen him perform live.

Elvis has been redone so many times and made in so much pop culture themes sometimes you wonder where it all came from.. then you re watch this special and you know exactly why.. he was just that good.. I love all kinds of music but he will always be at the top of that list.. it's amazing truly.. I'm very thankful it was preserved truly..

Similar to that point, when you see people slicking their hair back, or wearing tight leather, or bell-bottoms and jump-suits, or huge, flashy jewellery, and walking Elvis-like across the stage, or simply Elvis impersonators, and you think: 'ok, cool costume; cool look; that's a neat get-up and persona'. but then you realize: 'wow. someone ACTUALLY looked and acted that way, sang that way, and was real.' THEN you realize: 'wow, this may (or may not) be pretty good, but NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE is ever Elvis'. you watch something like this, and you realize how un-believable Elvis is, and if it weren't for audio and video equipment, and the inter-net today, no one would ever believe he existed if told of him today, having never heard of him. ahead of his time, a pioneer to say the least, a rocker, a performer, a front-man, a choir-boy, a great person, and simply one-of-a-kind.

Just recently saw the 50th anniversary of this program and it brought back so many wonderful memories of this concert. The concept of doing this NBC Special was nothing short of genius. This was Elvis at his best with no orchestra or big production. So pure. So good. So memorable.
