Elvis was absolutely the greatest singer/entertainer of all time! I was once a disc jockey, had a close friend a Grand Ole Opry fiddler who met and toured with Elvis when Elvis was part of a Grand Ole Opry package tour. Kitty Wells, Johnny and Jack, Roy Acuff, Hank Snow. Once Slim Whitman. My friend, The day he met Elvis, phoned his wife and said he had met a guy, “His name’s ELVIS. That boy will never make it!” Later my friend said, “Boy, was I wrong!” Well, that boy made it! What a blessing Elvis and his talent have been to this world!
Those jumpsuits were awesome! Only Elvis -- with his amazing looks, charm, and talent -- could have worn such flashy threads. Elvis was a one-in-a-trillion experience.
Karl Hungus @ He was everything! All men wanted to be like him. All women wanted him. Elvis was a great singer/ entertainer. Also a really nice human being. As for the jumpsuits, he did look cool in those. I remember the Osmond Brothers were wearing a sort of white jumpsuits too. The flares were hot in the seventees, I wore pants with them myself. Go figure, my age now, ha,ha,ha! I would have loved to see Elvis live on stage. Thank God for You Tube. We can see so much footage and interviews about the King. I love it!
Listening to him talking is just as enjoyable as hearing him sing. His voice poured out of him like a smooth, rare and rich honey . There was something so supernatural about this man that left even the most jaded journalists speechless and sucking their thumbs.
LegendOfBillyJean @ Totally agreed. Elvis was amazing. I love his early work, but I loved the progression in his voice over time even more. People like to put him down, but he never ever lost his voice. The last concerts were very good too. People had a problem with the man aging, but we all do. Getting older makes a look a little different......ha,ha! Thanks to You Tube we can enjoy all there is about Elvis! He may be long gone, but he will never be forgotten.
Can you imagine how much Unbelievable live magic he performed that will never be known to anyone who wasn't there....if you compare the number of his shows to what was professionally recorded....its a very small percentage...Everyone is blown away by him (Including myself) but we've only seen 5 or 10 percent of his work.
@John Rayne Rubbish it's not about record sales. It's about RESPECT. Sinatra was the VOICE. Before old blue eyes there was nothing. He had girls ready to have his babies when Elvis was learning his ABCs.
I had no idea that Elvis was such a consummate entertainer- such a drive to put on a good show for his audience. Of course I should have. A short video, but not to short to leave me with the impression Elvis was one of a kind.
Elvis was very generous with his money and gave it away almost as fast as he made it and because of his spending habits the poor guy was working himself to death
THEEE Inventor Of Cool Calm Collective ELVIS WAS THE ORIGINAL PIMPSTER!!!!! I'm only 17 and i've seen enough to know why we all call him the King. THEND.
Yes! Elvis was beyond compare no matter how you slice it.Check out the interview with the lovely and gentle actor Martin Sheen . He explains why Elvis was (and still is) the epitome of a legend in a way that is so respectful towards his memory. It makes me sad when I hear people express their interest in Elvis by making sure the listener understands that they preferred slim Elvis over 'fat Elvis' as if it was an embarrassment to still enjoy his talent when he was in a heartbroken and unhealthy state.Elvis did not deserve the heaps of criticism that were piled on him by vain and vicious fans and jezebel journalists.I hope these people know how much they suck .They could never hold a candle to Elvis' eternal flame. Not then. Not now.Not ever,
You are so right!!! HE ALWAYS GAVE HIS ALL ..Thin, heavier, whatever- the gift of that voice was God sent (his generosity, and when he sang those beautiful spirituals, he was definitely led by the Holy Spirit)!!
Look at it this way negative attention is still attention. Even their hateful comments keep this man alive 42 years after his death. That's power. No one will surpass this man and people know it. Fools make him more powerful with their hate instead of ignoring him. I'm a female and no longer get upset at the hate. I find it funny that people spend their time pushing it. As long as people talk about him positive or negative they are still talking. He heard it when he was young boy and he conquered the world in spite of it. Even in death he gains power. Sweet, humble, generous, gorgeous talented man. Loved throughout the world. No hate filled comment can change that.
Elvis never played overseas. Colonel Parker told Elvis they would rip him off for money. The real truth is Colonel Parker was an illegal immigrant. He could not get a passport. The Colonel was also wanted in the Netherlands I believe for suspicion of murder. He screwed Elvis over and over. When Elvis died Parker had a bunch of Elvis Clothes at his own home. When Priscillia had to open Graceland to remain solvent she asked Parker to return Elvis's clothes. The only way he would release them was to get paid for them. Elvis paid for them not Parker. What a greedy old man.
Musicgirl yes I kno Elvis wanted to tour Australia and Japan but that parker guy would not let him,my understanding Elvis was very pissed off about not getting the chance to tour here, Elvis would have loved Australia.
@@carolepworth2857 That's true. I remember as a boy back in Melbourne in early 1964 there were strong rumours that Elvis was going to tour Australia. A well know promoter was about to put down a million dollars cash to start negotiations, to which the ever greedy " Colonel " Porky replied: That's great for me, now how much you gonna pay for ' my boy? ' Needless to say, things quickly went south from there.
Speaking of managers : Chow prolly had Bruce Lee killed cuz Lee leaving Hong Kong for Hwood , not only that but Shaw Bros tried to lure him away from Chow not to mention Ponti , for sure Chow felt threatened by the competition
It's amazing Elvis still suffered from stage fright nerves before shows, he must have done this soooo many times that you'd think the nerves would be gone and it would be second nature, plus being how big he was a star and his astonishing charisma.. however if you watch many of his live performances, you can see him behind the curtains mentally preparing himself and sometimes appearing to say a silent prayer even and psyching himself up. I've seen the same of many great performers same though, they all never seem to have get rid of the initial stage fright of going onto that stage before an audience.. Frank Sinatra said he suffered terrible stage nerves right to the end, as did Freddie Mercury, and Robbie Williams. But once they're up there, the nerves quickly go away and their confidence sky-rockets.
@@patc7360 if there is a Heaven then Elvis will be there, with his mom and dad. And if there is a Hell then you might be going there don't forget to say hello to the Devil.
*Elvis é o exemplo de como a gente se preocupa muito com coisas que no fim não vale nada, se ele tivesse se preocupado da mesma forma com a saúde, estaria ainda vivo!*
He looks great in the blue and red suit. I just know him with the white and black one One of his friends said that he wear glasses because his eyes have pain due to the cameras flashes so his eyes become sensitive I don’t know why people compared him with the Beatles. I felt it was like competition between them but they are totally different we can’t compare them Personally I prefer Elvis 🕺
It's the same show with the same band with the same songs in the same order. Pretty hard to screw that up. And even if there was a little screw up, the audience wouldn't notice or care. Elvis traveled in a luxury jet, stayed at a luxury hotel with people waiting on his every need and all he had to do was sing for 45 minutes to cheering fans. That ain't even close to work. That's a day at the beach. Anyone who say's Elvis was over worked is out of their mind. B.B. King was doing 320 one nighters a year at age 85 and traveled by bus.
George Vreeland Hill @ Hi George, Lilian here from the Netherlands. We share the love for Elvis, he was fantastic! Best entertainer ever. He still brings so much joy to this world. Your name Vreeland is making me respond to your post. Vreeland is a little village in the province of Utrecht. Not so far from where I am located. My grandfather was born in Vreeland. Small world, huh? Your ancestors probably came from Vreeland too. I just wanted you to know Vreeland still exists as a village. You can Google it.
if you understand what Elvis did in his early years then you understand what and why his later shows were so epic, I know everyone knows this but I just had to say it.
Like so many I wish he was still with us but he was no more than a commodity to many and as such it’s no surprise that his life may have been a constant turmoil of emotions. He and Pricilla could have had so much joy had he been allowed to just live his life his way and not carry and promote so many others massive egos. He was and will always be part of musical history.
