Another "fool" song, this is a really good one imo. Elvis storytelling capabilities are top notch, he draws you into the songs like no other. Many times it's like watching a movie when hearing him sing. He had so many talents it's insane.

This song is about as country as country gets & Elvis is great at singing country, albeit, he's great at all genres which is what makes him one of a kind. Some of my favorite Elvis songs are country. Thanks so much for continuing your journey of Elvis. It's a real pleasure to hear your reactions even if I don't agree with all of them. :)

Good rank on this one. It is one I enjoy playing over more than once and singing along. You are so correct in saying that Elvis easily projected his emotions and feeling in his voice. He is a master at radiating the nuances of the lyrics. Yes, Seph, he makes us melt like sweet ice cream. I love that analogy. 😊❤❤❤

This was written by Billy Joe Shaver and Waylon Jennings and originally recorded by Waylon. I'm a total Waylon fan (the man's a legend), really like this song by both him and Elvis. It's not a sad song, but a love song. I don't think he's saying that he *is* walking away, just that he *would* if asked. Lyrics: Long ago and far away In my old common labor shoes I turned the world all which-a-way Just because you asked me to Like unto no other feel Simple love is simple true There's no end to what I'd do Just because you asked me to Let the world call me a fool But if things are right with me and you That's all that matters and I'll do Anything you ask me to Knowin' how much I love you And after all that I've been through I'd turn and walk away from you Just because you asked me to (Lord, I hope you never do) Let the world call me a fool But if things are right with me and you That's all that matters and I'll do Anything you ask me to

ELVIS: "There's no end to what I do." (0:43) SEPH: "There's no HENNNDD, HHHEYEH, HHHEYEH, HENNNDD. I can't do American, man!" >>I just keep watching this part over and over. I'm transfixed. It's the biggest trip to hear you doing a southern American accent. Do you think you've listened to enough Elvis songs and interviews, that you could now do an extended impression of him? Like some of his candid, jokey moments from his performances or rehearsals? Just line em up and shoot em off in your best Elvis accent? This can't only be appealing to me. I think that would be a total riot. Your dancing during James' guitar solo is intoxicating. (1:47) (4:12) ELVIS: "Knowin' how much I love you" (2:05) SEPH: "I love you too." **melts** ELVIS: "After all I've been through, I'd turn and walk away from you, just because you asked me to. SEPH: "That is a hard thing to do! Do you know how hard that is?! You know. Fair play if you can be that kind of person that can just walk away... like because he was asked to! That is hard. That is hard!" >>That is love. "You can hear it in his voice as well...the way he's singing it. Damn it! How does he do that? It's like the Elvis... he puts stuff into these songs... and it makes you feel like he's singing about himself. And every time I feel sorry for him. What the heck! How does he do that?! That's an ability. Not many other singers...make me feel like it happened to him. There's not many that can do that for me." (2:58) >>Do you think Elvis channeled his own life experiences or was he largely just a gifted emotive actor, of sorts? OMG, I think that was the first beard scratch since the new mic. (4:54) I got some serious ASMR there. Your beard and hair are perfect here. This is a crazy handsome look for you, Seph. "You asked me to go, and I don't really wanna go. But if that's something you want, then you're going to get it. Ya know?! It's so sad. It's so sad!" (5:03) >>Reminds me of the heartbreaking lyric "am I bringing you down, when I'm bringing you candy" in "Chocolates" by The Aluminum Group. "The vocal gymnastics of the Elvis! Oh! It melts you, man! I feel like an ice cream! And I'm just melting in the sun. It's the radiation coming off the Elvis! Coming off him! And it comes and melts me and I'm melting into the floor." (5:20) God, I know the feeling. This pain wasn't born of a fling. Only the loss of a long term relationship could produce this kinda pain.

Just like a few contributors to the comments here I don't think country music is really for you Seph, but it is a major musical part of him. A superb country song for me, which is strong in itself, while Elvis and his 'group' complimented each other perfectly and receives a 'B' ranking from me.

A lot of people have been influenced by the way Elvis sings. But here, Elvis is under the heavy influence of Waylon Jennings.
@sallycook
@sallycook Месяц назад
I just listened to Waylon’s version, and although Elvis followed Waylon’s version closely, Elvis’ delivery is far superior. Elvis wrings way more emotion from the song than Waylon achieves. IMHO, Elvis plumbs the depth of a song that even the song’s writers didn’t know existed.

The facial expression at the end when you said, "Half- banger." ... Made me snort- laugh. Oh jeez, you looked like you were watching a hot dog eating contest and was just like, "Ohhh... That's going to be an unpleasant experience for your body the next day. Elllgggghhh, maaannn..." I am NOT saying Seph felt that way about this song. I'm just saying his facial expression at the end was amusing to me. Anyhoodles, moving on, I actually quite like this song. I really, really like the message. It's about a man that is respecting his lover's boundaries. Or ex- lover's boundaries- and not caring what others think about you because you've decided to be thoughtful of another's needs and/ or wants. I love that, honestly. I'm not a pushy person nor do I like pushy people. (I've had solicitors come to my door from time to time and you can say "No thank you" in like five different ways ten times over and I swear they're still sales pitching. I get it, it's their job, but at the same time, "No thank you" is no thank you. Just leave it at that and walk away. Take the loss dude. You wouldn't walk away all butt hurt if you had just respected my answer the first time. I'm polite, always. But I also have a point of no return and then I start to give them the blank stare and the short, tight-lipped tone. Aaannnddd that's when they act like I've wronged them somehow. Ugh. Not all sales people are like that. But some are yes.) So getting back on track here: I think this does reflect Elvis. This song fits him. It is country but it has an upbeat slightly funky element to it that I also quite like. And as I have said before I really like the message of this song. FABULOUS REACTION SEPH GOLD HEARTS ETC & SO FORTH: 🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶💛👑🎸👑💛🎶 TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌& blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕
