Undescribably awesome performance by Elvis ! Goosebumps ! Cool to see how Elvis still can touch the hearts of the younger people . Elvis' music is timeless. Wonderful reaction !
great video and important conversations the mom the kids, Elvis ,geeze everyones perfect, almost have me crying hahaha,ALMOST everyones so cute good luck always, cant wait to see more.
The songwriter, Earl Brown, spent hours talking to Elvis on how he felt about the state of the world. Then he wrote this song for him, summing up what Elvis had said. Steve Binder, the show producer, tells the story in a video. This is one of the greatest performances ever captured on film.
The King's voice, his performance, his presence is just electrifies through the TV screen. It is impossible to remain indifferent. It instills in you a different atmosphere from any other singer that exists in modern history
Theater MOM: That's brilliant how you put the generations together to show their responses. The youth are the future of the world and if they understand and comprehend then there is hope fall of us.
It is so encouraging to see and hear that the younger generations capture what Elvis is saying. There is hope for all of us now and in the future. A wonderful surprise to know that they understand.
He is better than a dentist girl. I have listened to Elvis since 1956 n saw him at the Aloha 1973 concert n he gave so much emotion. There will never be another Elvis girls
This is what a great performer is all about. You see and hear the imotion in his voice and you react with that same imotion. You will see this again and again when you watch his live performances.
The great takeaways from this video for me: 1. 44 years after his death, Elvis' music still surely can appeal to each new generation. 2. The kids are beautiful, insightful human beings :) Thankyou, thankyouverymuch much for doing this ! :D How about showing them stuff from 1968 Comeback Special next? ;-)
A great performance from Elvis he put so much passion and emotion into gives me the chills everytime I hear beautiful if I had a dentist what looked like Elvis I find any excuse to visit him lol great reaction ladies thank you all stay safe 😷✌👍
Elvis really was "feeling the grief" with this song; which is a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy, who were both assassinated that year.
Awesome reaction, ladies. This song was not originally planed. The powers that be wanted a Christmas song at the end, but with the assassinations of RFK and Martin Luther King Jr., Elvis thought it appropriate and lobbied to get it in. It was a rough time in history and it is heart lifting to see some good come from it. Thanks again for the reaction, ladies. Well done. Cheers!
Good reaction, honestly. they were in three different age range and interestingly they had almost the same reaction to this song and performance! it shows that Elvis managed to send his message correctly, even after all these years, very beautiful.👍😍
I love you 3...you felt his message..and is a message that is important right now. Thanks so much for this. I became an Elvis fan when I was 6...now I am 66. He gave me a lifetime of happiness. Please explore his music. Somehow I know he is still here watching us enjoy him.
Great reaction ladies.I enjoyed it. ☺️🎶 Yeah, Elvis never spoke about social/political issues in public, but when Robert F. Kennedy & Martin Luther King Jr. were shot that year, Elvis couldn’t help but end his 1968 Special with this beautiful song. Thanks for the reaction.
"If I Can Dream" was written by Walter Earl Brown and notable for its direct quotations of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech. It was recorded by Presley in June 1968, just two months after King's assassination. The recording was first released to the public as the finale of Presley's '68 Comeback Special. Brown was asked to write a song to replace "I'll Be Home for Christmas" as the grand finale on NBC's "Elvis", from June 20-23, 1968 (now also known as ‘68 Comeback Special). Knowing about Presley’s fondness for Martin Luther King Jr., and about his devastation related to his then-recent assassination, he wrote "If I Can Dream" with Presley in mind. After Presley heard the demo, he proclaimed "I'm never going to sing another song I don't believe in. I'm never going to make another movie I don't believe in." And he, in his nine years remaining, kept his promise.
This was dedicated to MLK. He's so good ALL generations love him. My 4 year old granddaughter loves him!! He's amazing and fully understood and has a place in his heart for the plight of black Americans in the US
The songwriter put his heart into the lyrics, Elvis put his heart into it when singing it, and the result is that decades ago as a teenager when I first listened to it, got goosebumps and get goosebumps now and every single time I listen to this. Only Elvis could have pulled it off this way.
Young ladies and Mom, thank you all. It was wonderful that the context of when certain things happen was brought up. Many just take those things for granted. Yes, race relations are not what they should be, though much better now than when I was your age. Many today do not even know what it took to get us this far, or those that paved the way. Since you are in a music/theater class research Sammy Davis Jr. In my mind the best all around entertainer ever. He started like when he was 2-3 if mem serves. I do not blame the human race, only certain individuals like the mouth pieces and most politicians. Remember, one is not born a raciest - it's a learned behavior and Elvis was trying to change that through his music and behavior. It would be good to see your reaction to In the Ghetto; if you three had not yet done so. Live long and prosper. BTW if you do a reaction of Sammy, make it Mr. Bojangles - one of his live performances.
I feel his grief that was a good one I truly enjoy watching the young kids discovery who Elvis is this song change his way of singing songs Through the seventies yes it was a very important song to him keep up the good work I really enjoy this
Hi mom again, you are doing a great job, was really impressed with the girls this time because they saw the message of the song, which you requested they pay attention to. But more important is they noted the effort and emotion that he put into this song, and that is important not only in this song but how he puts feeling into all of his songs. I don't know if you noticed at the end when he said thank you and goodnight he was out of breath, he was exhausted he sang his heart didn't have any more to give left it all on the stage. Please thank the girls for their reaction and for them to keep up the good work
Nice reaction ladies. This song was written for. Elvis to convey his sadness for the assassinations of. Martin. Luther. King and. Robert. Kennedy. The fight for civil rights and the. Vietnam war happening.. He performed the song on 1968 television special. He never sang this song again. He put his heart and soul into that song. You should listen to. In. The. Ghetto anoter great message sond.
You ladies are great. Someone is doing right by you. There is so much history behind this song. Done just 2 months after MLK was killed and a few days after RFK. Song written in less than an hour. Never sang in concert before a live audience. Only a studio audience for his TV special. This one performance was done in front of only the production crew who all were totally spent after is was finished. There is so much more to this man. Keep on truckin’ ladies love watching you. (Don’t know your names, but the young lady on the right, I bet you would go to the dentist regularly and happily if Elvis was your Dentist). 😀😀😀😀😀
My niece, she's so cute. I would be going to the dentist everyday. I was very surprised at how emotional they became. I did tell them to listen to the words. The way he communicates through his performance, is so powerful.
Elvis' manager told him not to perform this song because it's too controversial. Elvis told him the only way he won't perform it is over his dead body. LONG LIVE THE KING.
Plus this was during the Vietnam war and after the assassination of MLK and RFK and few years after the killing of JFK..the 60s were a crazy time..they say after this song he went backstage and started sobbing
"He looks like a dentist" - 12 BILLION people have walked the planet since Elvis became famous and you are the FIRST person ever to describe him that way! ;-)
