Jackie Evanchos April 13 performance at the Smith Center in Las Vegas was interrupted by none other than Elvis Presley! The entire audience was asked to join him in singing Happy Birthday to Jackie!
I've had the rare privilege of seeing both Elvis and Jackie.on stage. I must say, no one has affected an audience simply by stepping on to the stage like Elvis......until Jackie.
What a special surprise, and it couldn't happen to a nicer young lady. I bet the "King" would have loved to sing with Jackie. Many of the songs that Elvis sang were based on classical works and I am sure a duet of him and Jackie would have been spectacular. Thank you for posting the lovely moment.
Lovely moment captured. I saw Jackie a few months prior to this in concert during the Holidays. The joy and innocence radiating from this child between songs only serves to accentuate the absolutely staggering gift she displays when she sings.
This was a spectacular moment and it was obvious that Jackie was really caught by surprise. Look at her expression as she turns to the audience at ;33 into the clip. This is one I'll never forget. That's papasmurfdad!
If there is a sweeter, more gracious, more genuine, and charming personality in the entertainment business today then I would certainly like to know just who it is. This wonderful young lady is the epitome of flawless character.
Sorry to hear you missed out on the concert, straightarrow372. I'm sure get an opportunity to see again. I've been fortunate enough to see her 4 times in concert. Her voice, live, is even more spectacular than on any you tube video.
I am always entertained by Jackie herself, giggling,and her cute antics what a brave and fearless little young lady, if anyone deserves, a surprise such as her birthday song sang to her or him :It surely is "Jackie" This is a big deserving birthday song sung to her By ElvisS ......WOW, WOW! also thanks for this post (great)
I got to see her twice in concert. I agree that it's better in person than on RU-vid or on the CDs. The DVDs have better sound quality. More like live.
Absolutely Douglas! I saw the real Elvis perform in 36 concerts, mostly in Vegas. I would love to hear Jackie duet with him on some of the songs they have both recorded: Danny Boy, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Impossible Dream, to name a few!
I never saw Elvis live onstage, but that must have been a special experience. I have seen Jackie live, and that's a special experience. She just glows onstage and entrances her audience.
Doc, that would be a great one! Elvis did several religious songs. Great suggestion. Suggest you post that on the JEFC forum under "Songs Jackie Should Sing." She's growing up and I hope we can continue to hear the giggles awhile longer. Hope she keeps that signature double-hand wave throughout her career :)
Before Jackie made her stage entrance, I tried to convince the folks in my box seating area to exclaim, "Happy Birthday!" out loud, but they were just too shy. So when Elvis showed up at the end of the show and got everyone to sing to her, I just loved it!
I'll bet he would, too. And I'd love to hear a duet with Jackie and Elvis. Dfoz did his "recording studio magic" with Barbra Streisand and Susan Boyle, plus there was Natalie Cole who did a duet with her deceased father. That was "Unforgetable," which won 3 Grammies, as well as song and record of the year. So it's entirely possible that Jackie and Elvis could sing together. And I'll bet it would be a giant hit.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WONDERFUL JACKIE! Alert to Jackie! the real Elvis Presley unfortunately passed away a number of years ago. You probably were not even born yet. So I'm glad you got a happy birthday song. You certainly deserve it! May God bless you great little princess singer.
I like that idea, too. And you know, for some reason I can see that happening. I think even most of her older fans would love it, and it sure would appeal to the younger generation. I can hear it my head now.
I think "How Great Thou Art" might be a good one to duet .. of course, "It's Now or Never" is basically "O Solo Mio" from opera .. though I don't think that lends as well given the lyric and ages involved. Jackie is just so endearing when she giggles!!
Jackie's birthday is 2000-Apr-09. This performance at the The Smith Center in Las Vegas is dated 2013-Apr-13. Simple math shows she is 13 years (and 4 days) old at that time.
correction- JE has completed a FULL 13 yrs of living,on the planet. She is nearly 2 months into her 14th yr. "WE" actually ROUND DOWN,if you will For ex,in Korean Society they "round up" When you are born you are 1 yr old. In other words you are working on completing your 1st year,so that when you actually do so, you are ready to be declared 2 yrs old. Again in our culture,only when we have completed a particular yr's living do we consider ourselves the appropriate corresponding age in number
Elvis and Jackie, two of a kind... Id LOVE to see a duet with the real Jackie and a virtual Elvis just like Celine Dion did some time back. Can you imagine... Impossible Dream and Bridge over troubled water sang by them in duet??
You are , ACTUALLY, "rounding" DOWN. This singer HAS completed 12 FULL years "living on earth" and is well on her way(a couple of months as of this writing) to fulfilling 14 . Good God Almighty; simple math, folks
It was an Elvis impersonator (like jEss Harnell aka Wakko) How bout a Wakko impersonator encouragign the audience to sing the happy bday song AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE?
If you think a fake "Elvis" 'scared Jackie' just imagine the effect the "Real McCoy" would have had on the poor kid The real Elvis would have been singin' an entirely different tune which, disturbingly, would have served as a precursor to an eventual proposal of marriage less we forget, "The King" had his sights set on Priscilla when she was right around the same age ditto-goes for that gross, bald, old, loser that ensnared Celine Dion and has kept her indentured and imprisoned for decades
