Elvis skated the best technical program of the evening only to be dropped farther in the standings on a crazy night of judging.

He should have at least won the long program with this. In my opinion. And it wasn't even his best performance But it was easily the best long program of the night. His technical merit mark was a joke. Giving that performance anything under 5.8 is outrageous, especially for 1992. The only thing missing of course was a quadruple but that was exceedingly rare and not expected and of course he didn't do a triple triple. But he did do two triple axles and 8 overall triples, plus skated with great speed

Figure skating judging at its horrendous worst! I read somewhere that some judges ran out of ordinals for him so he had to be either too high (1/2) or too low (8/9) ... In any case, given how disastrous everyone was, I'd have given him the long program. Sure he wasn't artistic but I dont think Petrenko looked that artistic running out of gas 45 sec into the program then panting his way to the bitter end

I definitely believe that about running out of ordinals. With so many flawed performances that were all around the same area in terms of content it made it really hard to rank them and find the right marks for everybody especially with leaving so much room for the last group and then having them underperform. Having him third or so here would have made a lot of sense because of how everything was laid out it was not practical to place him there. I think all of these complex issues with the 6.0 system are pretty good reasons not to bring it back. With the current system this performance might have given him a medal even with low component scores because of how much better he did technically than everybody else that night...

I will tell you though, I really enjoyed the music to this program, as much as I enjoyed the Bruce Lee flavour he employed later in his career, this program with the doubles being triples and the quad where it was supposed to be with hightened choreography would have won him a gold medal at either 1994 or 1998.

He really did come alive with choreography just one year after this.... As it says in the description, it was a great technical program but the rest is just arm movements, crossovers, two foot skating, and end-to-end skating. Petr Barna deserved his bronze.

The judging was worse than SLC - this is scandalous - okay Peterenko overall did win first but Stoijko was the only clean performance. The marks were absoluely way to low for Stojko.

Elvis was not judged fairly/ but he was aware of the uphil climb when a person is trying to nudge the officials to loosen up the Conservative rules. But he always took it well. No temper tantrums to angry exibitions. God bless him.

5.6 for technical merit? He did the most triples in the LP (8). I have him 3rd in the long program

These marks are precisely why I stopped following figure skating 25 years ago. Training your heart out every day and skating to perfection only to have a panel of fools pretend they didn't see a thing you did is ridiculous. What a shameful result.

The judges not only break gods commandment when he says do not judge, in my opinion they are just as corrupt as the democratic party. He, Paul wyle, Victor petrenko, and Todd will Eldredge will always be my favorite guys in the world.
