This video was recorded by @CC_Rider on August 15, 2023. Please forgive the video quality and any disturbances- I did my best to capture this memory. ❤️ #elvis #elvispresley #graceland #elvisweek #lindathompson
Such a sweet hearted lady. You trust what she says without questioning it like so many other insiders that associated with Elvis. So nice to hear her recall the memories. And a big thank you to the individual who held the cell phone the entire time capturing the interview.
Priscilla hasn't been a Presley since the MID 70s!!! She has been a TERRIBLE Elvis advocate. She has caused more drama for the Presley family and for Elvis' legacy than anyone else dead or alive. She caused NOTHING BUT MISERY to Elvis and his family. It was ALL ABOUT THE MONEY FOR HESELF. And she LITERALLY sacrificed Benjamin, her grandson and Lisa Marie, her own daughter to get her HANDS ON IT. Millions of dollars at a clip. And there were lots of "clips".
Linda is a true southern belle. She always responds to me on instagram, and was so kind to me when I met her once in Las Vegas. So kind. It’s easy to see why Elvis was drawn to her.
I met her once just briefly in the parking garage of a Beverly Hills high rise office building. She was waiting for the valet to bring her car, and I was waiting for AAA to come and jump start mine (Lol). Anyway, she was very sweet and friendly and beautiful in person. I never saw a photo of her that actually did her justice.
Sunbunny - Just stop it. EP was with Prissy when she was 22, but he didn't want her. As a matter of fact, he didn't want to have sex with her before or after they married with the exception of the wedding night. He simply wasn't attracted to her. Also, having been "forced" to marry her, surely didn't help matters.
@@vicki6070 exactly! Elvis had no option but to marry her. He did so under duress! Priscilla hung around from 17 until almost 22, refused to leave Graceland, knowing full well that Elvis was in love with Ann Margret. She told Barbara Walters in 1985 "why should she give up her dreams and move out and allow another woman to take her place!" Her dreams was all that mattered!
@@Wildlife_SA. That is exactly right. I remember her saying that. She's so vain! When you love someone you want what is best for them. But, she didn't care that "the love of her life" (NOT!) was "in-love" with AM. All she was concerned about is that she not lose her "place." (Thank you for that quote. I did not want to listen to that interview again to find it.) It was all about her!
SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY GRACIOUS IN HER SOUTHERN BELLE STYLE , KIND, CLASSY , LOVING , APPROACHABLE , RESPECTFUL WHEN IT CAME TO HOW SHE SHARED HER TIME WITH ELVIS !!!!
Yep, and Prissy and Parker got almost all of the money (millions) from the horrible sale of his recording royalties when he was in ill health and worked to death. 30K was a drop in the bucket, and Elvis obviously didn't mind. Elvis and P had only a brief marriage early in their lives, and she did nothing to contribute to his musical success. She's lived off Elvis and his estate her entire life, and is now contesting Lisa's will and trying to take her own granddaughters' money left to them by their mother Lisa. She's an EX, not a "widow." It's hard to understand any criticism of Linda. According to everyone who was close to Elvis at the time, she took very good care of Elvis. @@antoniohosino145
@@antoniohosino145 She was probably upset because he had flown another woman up to his concert venue in the PNW and sent her back to Memphis "to rest." She had spent years with him that were prime years to have gotten into modeling and acting. (Most A-list agencies don't like to sign new models over age 22.) She spent almost 5 years with him, until age 27. and saved his life on more than one occasion. She was often exhausted because of not sleeping well and checking on him all the time. She deserved a final shopping spree before moving out of Graceland. It was likely a wardrobe she was going to need in her career. Further, he did not mind. They spoke on the phone after she left and he even offered her another $100,000 to help her get established on her own, but she turned it down. She said she was making enough money from Hee Haw and her other jobs.
I love hearing Linda’s stories of Elvis, she always comes off as so kind and she truly loved him, and it’s easy to see why he loved her, some of her stories of Elvis are my absolute favorite
Linda tried her best to straighten out Elvis. She even tied bells to his toes to wake her up when Elvis would awake to watch hIM Sweet sincere Linda was unluvky in her love life. Elvis and then Brucr Jenner. Loved her since the days of He Haw. GOD BLESS LINDA.
Linda was truly in Love with him and cared for him for Many Many years in so many different ways! She is lovely and has been very protective of Elvis Legacy !! Very Special, Kind and lovely all the way around !!!! She has alway been true in her stories of Elvis Never changing the narrative like others!!!
She's a very sweet, kind person. Glad she was finally invited to appear. I wish they would invite Billy and Jo Smith who were a very important part of Elvis's life.
I’m so impressed with Linda. Linda is-one amazing and lovely lady. Your love for Elvis was so genuine. You put others needs before your own. You have one kind spirit. You have been blessed to have had beautiful memories from you and Elvis. He loved you and you loved him. You both complimented one another. I wish Linda the very best. May GOD keep a hedge of protection around your life
Indeed! She is so classy. She also kept Bruce Jenner's secret about wanting to transition for all those years and didn't speak about it until he did so himself. She could have made a fortune by spilling that secret, but she didn't. She also waived a lot of monetary support from him at the time of their divorce, support she could have gotten. The judge even asked if she was sure she didn't want more.
@@sunbunny83 Exactly right. Lisa Marie never invited her and I've never seen an adult Lisa with Linda other than when they ran into each other at a movie theater years ago and they only exchanged a few words.
Yes, it is about time. As for Linda and Lisa, Lisa certainly loved her a lot when she was a chld. It was Linda she phoned right after her daddy died. That speaks volumes.
@@elizabethnievesglez5980 Elvis broke up with Linda because he replaced her with Ginger. Elvis had almost five years to propose to Linda and never did. If Linda was perfect for him, don't you think he would have known it?
@@debra2700 Linda was fully aware that after their first year together Elvis was seeing other women and if Elvis had wanted any one of those women to have taken Linda's place they would have. However, Linda left Elvis because she wanted a family, but she did not want a family being brought up into the lifestyle Elvis lived where they would hardly see the sun, and finding out Elvis was bringing in Ginger Alden and giving her some fluff about how much he loved her and so on and so on while doing that, I think Linda realised that she had to leave - besides, according to Billy Smith, Elvis had a policy that if he hadn't married the woman by the end of the fourth year together and it seemed like they never would he would dump them and replace them with another, since after five years they (Elvis and say Linda Thompson) would have become common law husband and wife.
@@Della624 Billy Smith made that five year thing up because he believed that after five years Common Law Marriage kicked in and that's false. Neither state in which Elvis lived and owned property (TN and CA) ever had Common Law Marriage. Billy Smith makes things up. Yes, Linda realized she had to leave because Elvis flew Ginger in and told Linda she could take the plane back to Memphis. Linda likes to pretend that she walked away and again, Elvis had five years to propose and never did. Linda constantly emasculated him by treating him like a baby and Ginger didn't. The MM took it as Ginger not caring about him but why should a 20 year old woman have to babysit a 42 year old man night and day? That's not a relationship. Did you also know that Linda and her brother Sam sued the Estate after Elvis died because the Estate refused to continue paying rent on the property that their parents lived in free of charge even after Linda and Elvis broke up? He was that kind to her parents and she thanked him by suing Vernon, Lisa Marie and Minnie Mae aka the Estate.
@@debra2700 Thank you for the information about Common Law Marriage very helpful indeed. Billy Smith could have been told this by Elvis, so I'd say it might not be somethng he made up or lied about but something he had been told and passed onto Elvis' fans. Having said that, yes, Billy Smith does talk about a lot of things as if he had knowledge but could not and was not there to have known. There was a clique in the Memphis Mafia that consisted of Billy, Lamar, Sonny, Red and Marty Lacker. Each one of them appeared to have an axe to grind about one thing or another, even other members of their group, where their noses got pushed out of joint and so forth - thing is Billy seems to be prone to have believed whatever tehy had said to him and re-iterates a lot of the sh*t they've said and done as if he had been in the know. As for Linda Thompson and Sam Thompson suing EPE because the Estate refused to continue paying rent on the property that their parents home that had been gifted to them by Elvis, I'm sorry but you are wrong. It was Ginger Alden who sued EPE. Elvis bought Linda a House for HER after they split and paid her rent and that was it. Elvis bought Ginger Alden's parents a Home and promised to pay the rent for them and when he passed away it was Ginger Alden who sued EPE. Using the word "emasculate" to describe the person (Elvis) receiving love and care from someone else (Linda Thompson) who was showing a love and care in a manner the recipient (Elvis) had wanted tells me you're not much of a fan of Linda Thompson and that's fine - there's a lot of people I don't particularly like that were around Elvis when he was alive and what they have done and had done since his passing. However, every single person close to Elvis Presley have stated that it was ELVIS who would often use baby talk when speaking to loved ones, so to use sucha word and put that on Linda Thompson or anyone else, truly does a disservice to your dislike of them. If you're going to dislike someone at least dislike them honestly.
So awesome hearing her stories. She seems so down to earth, I can see why Elvis loved her. Great to see Graceland and EPE include her, what a great addition to Elvis week. Thank you for posting this!
What an elegant and fine woman she is!! And the way she speaks about him, with such respect and much love and tenderness. Oh I am so sorry she could not stayed with him all the way!! 😢😢😢
It’s so gratifying to know that Elvis had someone in his life like Linda who really cared for him and loved him. He needed that so much. Thank you for this wonderful interview. 💫❤️💫❤️💫❤️
Thank you for sharing this nice video. I always liked Linda Thompson. She seems down-to-earth, with no phoniness whatsoever. I can see what Elvis saw in her.
I always luv ♥️🤍♥️🤍♥️ listening to Linda Thompson she is a wonderful gracious truthful person her stories her experiences thnxs for sharing 😢😢😢 yes Lisa Marie too was a sweet sweet child very sad the ending 🙏🌺🌹👏
I just am so appreciative of Linda and incredibly grateful to her for how she expresses love for Elvis with such genuineness and authenticity. I've never once felt she is exploiting Elvis and their relationships (as I have others) rather than Linda telling the crazy story of her life that includes Elvis.
Agreed ❤ such a sweet lady. I'm sure she regrets leaving him. When I think that if she'd stayed she and Elvis would have had children possibly. Lisa Marie wouldn't have had to been an only child. I wish I could have known Elvis and his and Linda. ❣💖🎶💝😇🙏 Miss and love him forever 🙌✝️ for such a beautiful ❣ I don't know where this was at, but I hope she comes back next year and I get to come. I'd love to met her in person.
@@aunt_b3365 Elvis did want more children. I wish he had remarried. If it was Linda, Ginger, or someone else. Simply to prevent Priscilla from acting like his widow because she was the mother of his only child and the only woman he married; it would eliminate her importance in his life if he had had more children or been married to more than one woman.
I'm sorry but my feelings about LT are not quite the same. Generally speaking, I think LT is nice person, and she did take good care of EP, but I do take her with a grain of salt. I think her relationship with EP was over after the first year, at least, in his mind and, I think, she overstayed her welcome at Graceland. I think EP loved her but was not "in-love" with her. With that being said, I'm certainly glad she was a Graceland in lieu of Prissy. She told the audience that it took her so long to write her book because she didn't want to "exploit" their relationship. Really!! Whether it was written 20 years, 30 years, or 40 years later, what difference does that make? I think the majority of the chapters were about EP. Her book sold because of the Presley name. She got paid. Maybe her book wasn't as disparaging as others, but the truth is that EP did NOT want ANYONE to write about him and she knew that. She also said in this video that she went to 4 years college. The implication is that she graduated, however, on Larry King (Part 2: 2002), she said that she "lacked 12 credits and she wasn't going to go back to get her degree..." Possibly, she and her girlfriend were going to New York to model. "..and then Elvis came along and swept me off my feet." This just caught my attention. Additionally, I question whether Lisa really picked up the phone to call LT or was it really Sam T., her brother, calling to notify her and then Lisa got on the phone. According to "Baby, Let's Play House..." Sam T. handed the receiver to Lisa to talk to LT. I know it sells well and EP fans want to believe that but, for me, I just want to deal in the "truth." I'm certainly no fan of Prissy's. I wonder if it was this conversation that EP was having in his dressing room: In Nash's book, "Baby, Let's Play House," in March 3/74 "Elvis and Linda had a terrific row over Sheila on the phone during Sheila's first stay..." "I heard a tone coming out of him that was so guttural that I thought, "He must be fighting with Priscilla." "I was in the bathroom and I stayed there, because I didn't even want to believe that there was someone in his life who could make him this angry. She was just letting him have it, and he was explaining to her when he would be home and when she could come see him again, and it was very, very, disturbing. He was saying, "You've always gotta do it, don't you? You've always gotta twist the knife so that my gut can't even breathe." He just got so vehement" I think it was after this argument is when she ran his credit card up $30,000. Lastly, in the book "The Death of Elvis" a Grand Jury Subpoena was issued to Linda Thompson to be interviewed the the criminal indictment of Dr. Nick. During the questioning on 3/28/80, Linda made the following statement about EP to Detective Hutchinson. "Linda said she had planned on marrying Elvis but let him 'primarily' because of his drug problem but in a larger sense because she OBJECTED to 'his ENTIRE LIFE-STYLE, and his ENTIRE PERSON." Wow! I have to say that I was shocked to read this. She objected not just to his life-style, but to his "entire person!" I'm not feeling the love! LT has been talking about EP for many years now and she's quite good at it. She certainly knows how to turn on that southern charm.
@@vicki6070 Well, those are your feelings and indeed we must take everything said about Elvis with a grain of salt or always remember that it's only their perspective. Unfortunately, Elvis became the type of famous that someone who had one short interaction with him will shout it to the world. The other sad thing about it is that Elvis never got to tell his side of any of these stories so LT or Priscilla can spin things however they want... but I'll say this, if I had to choose between those two it would LT everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.
@@ElvisRose_ I agree with those sentiments. I also wish that EP would have had the chance to pen his memoir "Through My Eyes" but, unfortunately he did not. Consequently, true EP fans are his only voice now. I also agree that there is NO comparison between LT and Prissy. Although, I do not agree with everything that LT has done, she certainly has overall honored the name and spirit of Elvis Presley. On the other hand, Prissy has consistently disparaged his name and has been "preying" off of him for the last 46 years.
Father was stationed in Germany when Elvis came through my father had that same feeling his whole life he was dirt-poor I mean real poor like Elvis he he was a family of six children he was the baby and he had never lost that feeling of worrying about being poor so I totally get it God bless all of us and God bless my dad and God bless my dad too and Elvis
Deeply thank you for posting this.. for us.. the fans that couldn't attend Elvis week this year. ❤ Linda is amazing and I'm glad she has finally been invited to the Graceland events.
She was the ONLY 1 not to write a book about Elvis after his death to cash in. While every single friend, girlfriend, Zilla, all cashed in. It took Linda 40 yrs to write an autobiography. And it’s not just about her life w/Elvis. Pure class. That lady was Elvis’ savior. He just didn’t know it.
Amazing that it's the first time Linda has been included as an official guest. I met her in Memphis is 2017 at a separate event and thought then it was strange she was being excluded. This is a good move by the new management.
Thank you so much for sharing your precious memories of Elvis. There was only one Elvis. He is still missed. I enjoy everything about him. He makes me smile. What a great gift from God. Awesome talent. His voice was the best ever. Beautiful voice God gifted him with and we can still enjoy it.
I could listen to Linda all day, her stories are fun to listen too , they made a great couple could you imagine if he walked in to surprise Linda ... 31:17 31:17 that would be epic Thankyou for sharing 😂❤😂
I loved Elvis my whole life, my daughter love him and my grandchildren love him ,my 16 year old granddaughter said she wants to go to Graceland for her fall break trip ,Elvis was the most GORGEOUS TALENTED SEXY MAN EVER CREATED, Many have tried to copy his voice ,clothing style ,his over all look ,they never even come close ,ELVIS THE ONE AND ONLY
I saw Linda Thompson for the 1st time in June 1973. It was Elvis' first Atlanta Concert. We were fortunate to have front row stage level sears. She arrived with Joe Esposito and Red West just before Elvis. just behind the stage where we were seated. Linda was amazingly beautiful wearing a stunning jumpsuit! It is so good to know she is as kind and loving as she is beautiful! Such a treasure she is!
Such a gorgeous lady Linda Thompson. Elvis should have really asked her to marry him. I think he would been I think so so happy. God Bless Her. She’s such a sweetheart.💙🙏🏽⭐️⚡️🧸🌺
Yes thats true. Linda truly loved Elvis and cared for him. She was like a nurse to Elvis and he called her "Mommy". However, I read somewhere that she had an affair with Elvis' pianist but she said that she carried that affair after she had broken up with Elvis. It was said that Elvis unplugged the electric piano out of jealousy and fired him.
Yes. That was right at the end. Most of the time she was with Elvis she took very good care of him according to everyone who was close to him then. None of them, to my knowledge, ever said a bad word about Linda.@@conietan
I'm so glad you got this! So interesting to hear Linda. She's so well-spoken. And yes, that TLC necklace sparkled throughout your entire video. So cool she wore that. Such a fun conversation, but I got teary-eyed when she talked about Lisa wanting her to brush Linda's hair when she was a kid. Thanks so much for posting this!
It was good to see Linda. I’m glad she was there. She spoke so lovely of their relationship. I wish they could’ve stayed together but that could’ve only happened in some other world.
My father LOVED a peanut butter and banana spread sandwich! I never knew (I'm 71 and my father has been gone for 20 years) that this was one of Elvis' favorite treats! Makes me want to cry over the memory of my father. We are quickly arriving at a time when there will be no one with direct memories of Elvis. An era will have truly passed. If "we" survive into the future, generations later will wonder at what the fuss about Elvis, the Beatles, the Cuban Missile Crisis et cetera, was all about.
We have new generations coming up that are just now discovering Elvis! They love him like so many of us do! I love that his charisma, talent & so many other attributes continue to enthrall so many!!! I often wonder how he would feel about all of this! The vigils...the new fans...etc
Linda took care of Elvis more than any other non relative. She like Ann Margaret both would never betray his memory as others did. She and her family all loved Elvis so much. Elvis was not a saint he was a special man, who influenced my life since 1956, and his memory will live on for ever. Thanks
Linda is Great & a Real Person ,Respect her the most !! Rock on Remember the King, Passed away on August 16th 1977 - 46th Anniversary - NOW !!! The Greatest Performer in History !!! 2:50 P.M. M S T at my home .Take Care All !! 🤩😲😲💯💓😭😭👨🎤🕵♂
Thanks for posting this x I love Linda, down to earth and great sense of humor, she loved Elvis so much and the only reason it broke up because it was hard for her to see Elvis I think she said self - destruct and it happens to people all the time for different reasons and his health wasn't good bless him, I love you Elvis and "I can't stop loving you" Great song and fabulous voice, oh my he was gorgeous and still phenomenally handsome on all my books and posters etc I have them since I was young lass and when I started working in a newsagents my boyfriend whom I met when I started ❤ We got married after a longish engagement because we needed to save up for when we got our 1st home together. Sorry I digress, he did all the ordering of papers magazines and when Elvis mags came out he would order an extra one for me and yes I paid for them. I loved collecting them some got a bit damaged with damp but they ok. Thanks again for posting this 🙏xx
I have always loved Linda Thompson and her 2 boys. Linda is so beautiful and a real down to earth true southern girl. Elvis was lucky to have her in his life. ❤
Elvis and Linda really loved each other. Linda is a really sweet lady. I am so happy that EPE invited Linda Thompson back to Graceland. I know that the visit has been special to Linda. Tom said it best. It was about time. Linda was a treasure in Elvis's life.
