Why Linda Thompson and Elvis Presley broke up - "I can't spend my life trying to keep him alive" 

When it came to women, Elvis was like a kid in a candy store. He just loved and adored women. It’s really sad that he could not be loyal to Linda Thompson. I’ve always thought with Elvis having that strong bond with his mom which everything he did it was for Gladys he had lived his whole life with a overprotective mother I don’t think Elvis thought he’d become as famous as he was it’s like everything was moving quickly when his mom died a huge part of Elvis went with her. I believe Elvis relied on his mothers love and guidance so with her death he was going through the emotions of living but didn’t really feel alive the prescription pills numbed the pain. Priscilla was the worst decision Elvis made in his lifetime he needed a strong southern Christian woman to give him strength, purpose and love. Priscilla was just too young I’d imagine with the age difference they didn’t have nothing in common so I can understand why Elvis and Ann Margaret had so much love for one another they had the same religious beliefs Elvis could open up to Ann and she would listen Priscilla said the only woman she ever worried about was Ann i believe that priscilla and her step dad threatened Elvis to go to the papers which would ruin his career it’s sad because it would explain why Elvis was caught crying by Gladys friend and longtime housekeeper Elvis confided he didn’t want to marry priscilla but he made that promise. People say Elvis groomed priscilla when in reality her stepdad did I’m sure many time while Elvis had other woman Priscilla would confide in her parents about wanting to leave but it would have all been for nothing priscilla knew she needed to have that last name for the money. Priscilla dated a couple guys while they were married she’s the one who asked Elvis for a divorce by than Elvis was deep into prescription pills so when Linda got with Elvis he was a mentally broken down man perhaps if she’d have got with Elvis years earlier he’d had lived Linda did say that Elvis got help with rehab but the addictions had gone on too long I believe they did love one another and she saved Elvis’s life many times Linda said out of all Elvis hospital stays priscilla never called Linda stayed by Elvis bedside at every hospital stay the only time priscilla called was for money or to have Elvis arrange a private plane for her parents all kinds of give me reasons or to talk about Lisa one time priscilla called mad because while Lisa was at Elvis’s she lost a tooth and the next morning instead of the tooth fairy giving Lisa money under the pillow Elvis done something extra special Elvis told Linda all priscilla ever wants is extra money or to nag she never asked how he was doing like it’s portrayed in all these movies and books she’s made over the years Priscilla has only ever cared about was fame and money they were divorced nearly 5 years but she talks as if they were still madly in love. I believe Linda was good for Elvis and even after his death Lisa went and called Linda not her mom but Linda that says a lot! The strange part was a year before Elvis died priscilla was dating kardashion they were in love he asked priscilla to marry him but she said I’m not marrying anyone why Elvis is still alive of course kardashion left her after this the kardashions wrote a book about it. Elvis gave and gave and a lot of people turned on him because once you give they want you to give all the time. There’s so much good to Elvis he stayed true to his beliefs he’s one of the most beautiful loving and caring famous people ever to live. I don’t believe he said that. I’m not a fan of Linda even though many people are. And she had no idea that Elvis had inherited disorders. He didn’t know either, and his many disorders baffled all the doctors and specialists who treated him. He grew tired of her, that’s it. And she kept hounding him about getting married, he didn’t like that. Forget Linda. Forget Priscilla. They are old news.

Priscilla was the worst mistake Elvis ever made in his entire life. Even the Colonel was at least good for something especially in the early years. Priscilla ruined Elvis‘s life and image and today he is being called bad names just because of her. Priscilla wanted nothing but fame and money, if she would have truly loved Elvis, she would have stayed and helped him but she didn’t. She just wanted to be free from him but at the same time have his money and privileges. She is nothing but s gold digger. I think Linda was truly the best for Elvis and she saved him multiple times. I also believe that the best choice of woman for Elvis would have been a southern belle, with strong Christian beliefs and who had the same upbringing as Elvis did. Ann Margret was Elvis‘s twin flame, but Ann was to career oriented for Elvis he didn’t want that or liked that. I don’t think he ever found his „soulmate“ or the love of his life. But then again, Elvis was not an easy man. He was very childish at times and irresponsible. He also depended on other people and pills to much. I don’t think how marriage to Elvis could work for any woman in this world.

I think Elvis did love Linda, and why is apparent, it is because she was a lot like him. They both were raised in the South, and shared the same values, as well as, had caring hearts. The reason that Elvis couldn't commit to any one woman was clear. He enjoyed being single. It was said he was pressured to marry Priscilla, and I think, after that disastrous marriage ended. Elvis didn't want to ever be married again. You can't really blame him, as his first marriage didn't last very long, and it left him heartbroken. Elvis cheated on Priscilla and Priscilla cheated on him. Elvis and Priscilla never did have a fairytale romance. Their relationship was one that was always troubled, and twisted, from the get-go of their sham marriage. However, if Elvis couldn't commit to one woman, he may've married Linda. It's not that he didn't love her, because he did love her, it's just that he didn't want to be married. I can very much understand Linda's position on breaking it off with Elvis. You can't blame her. She didn't want to see someone she loved, self-destruct, and Elvis had put himself on that path ever since he started his drug habit. Linda loved him too much to sit by, and see him harm himself, and she couldn't spend her entire life trying to keep him alive. I can see her point here, as when you love someone, you don't want to see them suffer day by day until they die. She loved him too much, to have him threaten his own existence, and this is what the prescription drugs were doing to him. They were taking his life away, bit by bit, and that reality was too difficult to deal with. I do believe this, if Linda had stayed with him, maybe he wouldn't have died on August 16, 1977. Maybe, just maybe, she might have been able to save his life. But, when it's your time, and God wants you. He takes you with him.

Linda is lovely i could see Ginger Alden was much younger then Linda and to see her today she is also a serene mature beautiful women and speaks with class and elegance Ginger was Elvis last women and Ginger was from Memphis and was engaged to him so Ginger Alden would of been his wife today if Elvis had lived so to the people that didn't like Ginger at that particular time because mainly they were used to Linda Thompson and we got that Elvis had moved on to another younger women which was Ginger and nothing could change Elvis mind he definitely was in love with Ginger that's why he urgently got his jeweller to make this special diamond ring just for her so my view both ladies Linda Thompson and Ginger Alden are just gorgeous ladies today.

I think Gladys was the big problem . She was too possessive and being her onky only child and wow what a hunk. He always felt quilty because she had been there when times were tough. Often mothers tend too not want to let go of their sons. They want to stay number one. Ask me I was married to a man whose mother always competed with me and I was too young to realise it. I did divorce him after not even 2 years.

I don't think many women could have stayed with Elvis because of his lifestyle. Elvis wanted you to live his life. And that's really not being fair. Elvis wanted to sleep all day be up all night and everything and he didn't want his woman to be out having her own life. His lifestyle got old after a while yes he was the greatest entertainer but his lifestyle pretty much to me kind of sucked. I look at Linda's lifestyle after she left Elvis and she prospered she found a man and they had kids and you can see the big smile on her face. Whereas when you look at Linda's facial expressions the few years after being with Elvis the smiles went away. No disrespect but her life was going nowhere. And like she said she didn't want to live a life like a vampire. Elvis's prescription drug problem alongside sleeping pills and and other things got completely out of control. And before you knew it look how Elvis looked at about May or June 1977. He did himself in and unfortunately died.

COULD IT BE BECAUSE OF WHAT BILLY SMITH SAID, ELVIS GOT SICK OF THE WOMAN HE WAS WITH AND MOVED ON WITH ANOTHER ,BILLY SAID, HE GENERALLY ONLY STAYED WITH SOMEONE 5YEARS OR MAYBE CLOSE TO 5 YEARS.LINDA WAS A GOOD WOMAN, THE BEST FOR ELVIS BUT ELVIS WANTED OUT.LINDA WAS STILL DATING ELVIS EVN THOUGH HE WAS DATING OTHER WOMEN.IF LINDA HAD BEEN THERE AUGUST 16,1977, MAYBE ELVIS WOULD HAVE HAD MORE OF A CH ANCE, THE LAST GIRLFRIEND COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT ELVIS,LIKE ELVIS SAID, SHE WAS LIKE AN ALBATROSS ON HIS BACK.

They broke up because Elvis wanted to move on. So he gently dumped Linda by telling her to take the plane to see her parents lol. That was his way to break up. Gently but surely. Linda keeps saying she broke up with Elvis because she couldn't take his bad habits and pill popping. In reality it was more like he was bored with her and replaced her with Ginger.

I think elvis only loved ginger.
