I feel that I am going to end up doing some form of specialized peds. I really like the idea of EM and its procedures, shift work, but I like to build long term relationships w/ my patients. I do like procedures though... Choosing is difficult!

When I got diagnosed with HSV 2 it was hell for me, had the worst days, Mental breakdown, crying not eating or sleeping either. I was restless looking for alternatives to get rid of this virus in my system. not until I stumbled upon a video on RU-vid about Dr. Aloha’s Herbal Medication and how effective they are, I reached out to him through his email: Alohaherbalhome@gmail.com and followed the instructions given on how to use the Herbal Medication, To my greatest surprise, it worked perfectly and today makes it a month and two weeks of testing Negative to HSV 2 after making use of his Organic Herbal Medication, It’s so amazing regaining my health back to normal and ridding my body of Herpes. Thank you so much 🙏 You can as well Contact Dr. Aloha through his email: Alohaherbalhome@gmail.com or WhatsApp +1(202)871-3222,

At your hospital, do PAs work in all types of emergent cases? At a hospital I shadowed, the PA/NP only worked in the fast track acute care setting, while attendings and residents covered the acute care, emergency room, and trauma center area.
@MHSMagicLuver
@MHSMagicLuver 5 лет назад
Lily Nong it depends on the hospital! I shadowed PAs in an ER and they did anything. I’m a 2nd year PA student now :)

I just wanted to mention (not because of anything Jamie said) but NPs can prescribe meds without a doctor signing off, while a PA must have an MD/DO sign off. Just wanted to throw that out there, both are great and respectable professions, but that’s the biggest difference between the two (in practice)!😊
@XxChuyoxX
@XxChuyoxX 5 лет назад
PA's can also prescribe medications the same a way a NP can. They represent the attending physician, which is why the physicians name is typically on the prescription they are filling out. The limitations with NP's and PA's when is comes to medications they can prescribe is usually mandated by the state they practice in. For example, some states do not allow nurse practitioners to prescribe schedule 2 narcotics.
@ariellesmith5286

PAs have prescriptive rights in all 50 states and don’t need a sign off for most prescriptions. PA roles are best described by the American Academy of PAs: “PAs are state-licensed, nationally certified medical professionals. As medical providers, PAs diagnose illness, develop and manage treatment plans, prescribe medications, and often serve as a patient’s principal healthcare provider. With thousands of hours of medical training, PAs are versatile and collaborative. PAs practice in every state and in every medical setting and specialty, improving healthcare access and quality. PAs are licensed to practice in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, all US territories, and the uniformed services. PAs are authorized to prescribe medications in all jurisdictions where they are licensed, except Puerto Rico. Where PAs have prescriptive authority, that authority includes controlled medications, except in Kentucky, where they can prescribe non-controlled medications.”

NPs can prescribe without a physician write off in certain states that give them full practice authority. In lots of states, like California, PAs and NPs are basically the same
@hailylister9695
@hailylister9695 5 лет назад
Samuel Kunowski gotcha, in Arizona NPs practice more like doctors, especially in primary care

I appreciate your view about PAs in the short time it was. I’m a second year PA student and I definitely didn’t become a PA because I wanted a doctor roll. I love the teamwork aspect and I did not want to be the top person. I’m fine with having a SP above me (although of course they just have to be able to be contacted by phone, not physically there all the time). I start clinicals end of August and I’m nervous but excited.

Ok, let me just put this out there for anyone who wants to further entertain the notion that PA/NP/nurses are basically like MD and can do basically the same thing. It takes 2 years of school to get a nursing title. It takes an extra year to get the NP, for a total of 3 years. PA's also only get 2 years of schooling/training before they're certified. MDs on the other hand, goes through 4 years of med school training, plus at least 3 years of residency training (more if you're not doing IM or family med), for a miminum of 7 years of training. There's a reason everyone else need MD sign off. Sure they can take care of your everyday running nose or a cold or otitis externa, but when shit hits the fence and let's say your kid has a malignant otitis externa you're just lying to yourself if you say you would like a lesser experienced and lesser qualified medical professional to deal with your kid's medical needs.
@toria1209
@toria1209 5 лет назад
Although they have shorter training, their education is still rigorous. PA's and NP's may have limited training, but they don't have limited training. Yes, they don't have the 12 years of training as an MD, but nonetheless, they are still quality/ experienced healthcare providers. You can have a crappy PA/NP, just like you can have a crappy MD.
@agent007x14
@agent007x14 5 лет назад
eatcheesekobe actually you’re wrong. You need a BSN, a 4 year degree, to be a candidate for a NP program, which in itself is a minimum of 2 years at any reputable school. Does that mean NP have the same scope as MDs? Absolutely not. But make sure you are posting correct information if you’re trying to make a point
@MHSMagicLuver
@MHSMagicLuver 5 лет назад
Not saying PAs have as much education as a MD at all. Especially in the depth but.. we learn so much. In 13 months I had 91 credit hours. We have at least 2 exams every week and very little breaks. I am a second year student and start clinicals the end of August. It’s very difficult. And that’s after a 4 year bachelors degree. We also have to have a lot of direct patient care to be competitive. The acceptance rate of PA schools are between 1 and 5% per school. I had over 10k hours of direct pt care (CNA and MA) and 3.6 GPA. I did not want to be a PA because I couldn’t get into med school either. I decided on PA freshman year of college because of the lateral mobility. Also I’m completely fine with not being the top person and not knowing every single thing. I’m interested in surgery and I know most of what I will do is hold open as well as closing. We just got signed off on suturing and knot tying today and I absolutely love it. But i want to start in family medicine to get more general knowledge. We also have to recertify with a 4-5 hour exam every 10 years as well as get 100 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
